Monday things

I'm jumping out of my skin waiting on news about my job, so let's talk about Monday.

Things that are happening here:

--I find out at some point today whether I've been "randomly" chosen to start working in Sep or Oct, instead of Nov.  This is not only huge financially, but I also just really love working and hate sitting on my ass.  I love my firm and I'm dying to get started.  Plus the extra two months of income means we can probably afford a nice honeymoon we weren't planning on, so there's that.  Yeah, financially we are prepared for me to be out of work, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

--My estranged high school BFF has been texting a mutual friend asking about our wedding.  Girl, if you want to get invited, how about you act like a friend and pick up the phone, and explain why you haven't responded to my texts or voicemails for the past 11 months.

--Fi just texted me that he wore two different shoes to work today.  Mostly he sits at a desk, but I think I will bring him a matching shoe sometime before his lunch break so he isn't the laughing stock of his department.  We had a good giggle over that.

But mostly I WANT MY PHONE TO RING WITH GOOD NEWS.  That is all.

How's everybody's Monday going?

Re: Monday things

  • Eeehh. I'm so tired today. And I was in bed at 10pm. I need a cup of coffee, but I don't feel like walking to the Keurig. That's how lazy I am today!
And instead of working, I'm researching things to see in Florence while we're on our HM.
And I'm getting my teeth whitened later. Woo hoo!

FI said he'd wake me up at 7:15. He did not. Said "I heard your alarm going off and figured you had it handled." Well I had turned off my alarm thinking "he said he'd wake me up." Nope, got up at 7:49. Super duper.

Running around scrambling to get ready for work on time, and left my phone at home. Was still late.

    Happy fucking Monday.

ETA there's also a story in the news about what a colossal failure one of my work projects is. The failure isn't my fault, but I know my clients are going to be a nightmare this week trying to save face.

  • I'm tired and cranky today. I'm on TK hoping that something will put me in a better mood. I really just need a nap though.

  • Bleck...  Mondays...

I'm just tired and don't want to be at work or DO work today. We are taking a 3-night cruise in a few weeks and I'm ready for our mini-vacation, so that doesn't help me get motivated to be productive.

  • I also over-slept this morning @lol883. I usually get up by 6 (honestly, more like 5:30) but turned my alarm off and woke up at 7:20 when I have to leave by 7:30. I was late for work for the first time ever...

Today definitely feels like a Monday.

We're going to FI's parents' house tonight for a goodbye dinner for some very close family friends. They are moving this week from NC to OH and I'm so sad. They have two daughters that I really care about and babysit a lot. Needless to say, I'm going to be a blubbering mess even though I have promised myself not to cry in front of the girls.

  • I'm physically exhausted, but pretty happy--I did the New York City Triathlon yesterday! I was really worried about it because I wasn't as prepared as I would have liked due to a heel spur flare-up/vacation/laziness, but it went really well! Now I am sore as hell but very pleased with myself!

Here's hoping for good news for you soon, JC.
That post doesn't have nearly enough exclamation points, @KatieInBkln! Kick ass!!!

  • I hope you hear soon about the job.

Today H is working from home we having granite countertops being installed today.  I'm  so excited for this.  I can't wait to see it when I get home.   I woke up extremely tired and I have a feeling this work day is just going to drag.

Yes exactly, I just keep trying to tell myself that.  We are prepared for me to wait until November, so if I get good news, it's just extra goodness dropped in my lap.  Bad news, we're in the same position we thought we'd be in anyway.

Senna. It' OTC, but I have a prescription for it right now because of the narcotic pain killers I'm on. I take it at night and works like a charm the next morning :)

  • KatieinBkln - congrats!!!!!! That is such an amazing accomplishment! I swam 7 laps yesterday for the first time in years - I don't swim much. I was pretty exhausted lol.

My abs are sore from swimming and spinning - I went to the NY Health and Racquet club with my BFF who had a guest pass for me. I slept like a baby last night. Until FI's job called at 3AM due to some issue. I'm pretty tired and lazy, but it's my birthday on Wednesday!!!!! The dirty 30 o_O. So I'm just looking forward to a fun week.

Yeah granite!!!  We are starting demo on our kitchen next weekend in prep for our remodel.  Next Monday is the earliest our cabinets will arrive and possibly as late as the 18th.  We are taking down the upper cabinets and the floors this weekend and leaving the base cabinets and counters in place as long as possible so we have something resembling a working kitchen.

  • Oh mondays. This weekend was rough for FI and I but we'll get through it. I also did zero wedding things, aside from ordering the head piece I'm going to wear. I really need to get my butt in gear. I'm going to dedicate tonight to getting a ton checked off of my list.

I really don't want to be at work today. Nevermind that it's Monday and they're never fun, my next door co-worker won't stop giggling and it's SO FAKE. She's one of those people that laughs at everything, even when it's not funny, and today it's grating on my nerves. At least it's already 10:30 am. Today is going by quickly.

@KatieinBkln that is awesome! What a huge achievement! How was the swimming portion? My roommate from college did her first tri last summer and the swimming was the hardest part for her (she wasn't previously a swimmer).

See, swimming is the only thing I'm really any good at. I was a swimmer/lifeguard for years so I enjoy it. I loved this particular swim--the Hudson had a nice current so I swam 1,500 meters in the same time that it has previously taken me to swim 500. Rivers FTW! Re: obnoxious co-workers, you could always just start laughing really loudly yourself, like: "HA! HA. HA. HA. I LOVE JOKES." That might cause more trouble than it's worth but wouldn't it be fun?

  • @KatieinBkln that would be hilarious. I've tried to hint to her on more than one occasion that what I'm talking to her about isn't a laughing matter (okay, maybe more than hint, I've made told her that what I'm saying isn't funny) but she still does it. Sigh.
  • @JCBride2015 sending you goooood thoughts about being selected to start earlier than anticipated at your job!

My boss is out of town this week. That means I can pretty much come in kinda late and leave kinda early every day, so that's always nice :) I'll have more responsibilities, but it won't be anything I can't handle outside of my normal routine.

I have my first wedding dress fitting this coming Saturday, that means I need to be on my best eating and working out behavior. No drinks this week for this lady. Wahh.

In other news people keep suggesting honeymoon funds to us, since we are going on a more low-key honeymoon to Colorado Springs. It is like because we aren't going somewhere tropical/expensive people are placing pity on us. Ugh. It's getting on my nerves. We'll still have a grand, romantic time in Colorado, within our budget, thank you very much.

  • Oh and a co-worker vent...

I sit near a woman whose voice ALWAYS sounds like she is annoyed/upset/angry, it is just the way she is.  She is very opinionated, easily frustrated and she works on a phone based job so I hear her voice ALL.DAMN.DAY.

I just can't deal with it this morning and I want to stab her in the voice box...

When she isn't on the phone she buts into everyone's conversations (that have nothing to do with her) and spouts off her thoughts...  So annoying.

Swimming a lot always causes me to sleep like a baby and eat like a horse. Works for me, since swimming+eating+sleeping are basically my favorite things.

Thanks! Where do you usually swim? I rarely swim, but after yesterday I definitely want to take up swimming. It's such an amazing workout! I just started googling places to swim in NYC. Preferably for free, but I doubt I'll get that lucky lol.

  • Still in stickybun-land. Grandma looks great, loves the cupcakes we brought her. Dh sent her some flowers and she's tickled to have flowers from "her young beau" as we tease her.

Trying to ward off a sinus infection. Got grandma some stuff at the mall, did some shopping for dh and myself, scored deals. Got grandma creamed chipped beef the other day, popping out shortly to get her pizza (she loves when we visit because we always get her her favorite restaurant meals that she cant get at the nursing home)

Missing dh though. This is the longest weve been apart since we married. Head back to Florida tomorrow, going to stop at the best local bakery, weavers, and get stickybuns to take back for my in laws as a surprise.

@pinkcow13 I have a Parks Department pass for the Recreation Centers (<<Click) all around town. It's like $125 for the whole year and access to all locations, so it's pretty rad. Pools are fine; can be crowded, and the facilities are definitely bare-bones. But the water's clean! And they're a full 25 yards, which I've found is rarely the case at private gyms, even fancy ones like Equinox.

I'm looking into actual programs for fall/winter. I want to join a swim team for grown-ups. They have master's swim teams all over the city, but they're not cheap so I have to wrap my brain around them and see if I can budget.

    *SITB

@KatieInBkln: Try tilting your bike seat down. I just started getting into cycling in the last few months, and as I started getting into 20-30 mile rides, I had the worst crotch pain that would linger for days after my rides. I read online that tilting your seat down can help, so I (my FI), adjusted my seat to a slight downward angle. I rode 50 miles last week with absolutely ZERO crotch pain. It was amazing.
  • Mondays are great for me because I don't work as I work the whole weekend until 3am. Will go get some groceries and will eat sushi tonight. Still have the stress of waiting on my visa...bitch won't come in soon enough. Missing FI as usual whom I haven't seen for 5 months. Other than that, pretty happy. Good luck to all of you out there who are starting your work week!
