I changed my mind...

Re: I changed my mind...

  • But this is why shows like the one with Honey BooBoo exist! The only part of THAT show I've seen is her and her overweight sisters racing to eat an entire can of spray cheese first. Then her sister vomited it up, on television.

And people keep watching them, so they keep making them! When we're convincing them to spend money filming idiots instead of heroes, we're exposing our youth to complete crap like this! I just really wish the majority of these shows would go away. It's almost as bad as back in the day, when people would go see deformed people at the circus. Freak shows are entertaining, apparently.

Eh, people on reality tv shows are pretty thrilled with themselves. I don't have much sympathy for them. If you want to go on tv and make a fool of yourself go right ahead.

I don't really see an issue with reality TV shows. Obviously they aren't high brow, intelligent shows, but they're all in good fun. Most of the scenes are scripted in those shows anyway. It's just a way for people to de-stress and escape reality for a bit. Just like pre-movies/TV, people went to the circus for entertainment, and just like during the Great Depression when the world was suffering but Hollywood was flourishing, reality TV today is a form of escapism for people. It's mindless entertainment, and if those people want to willingly put their "lives" on display and make fools of themselves on TV, well then by all means let them. Plus, if nothing else, it makes me appreciate what's going on in my life more. I may be stressed about X, Y, or Z, but when I watch those trainwreck shows, all I can think to myself is, "Well, at least my life isn't that screwed up..." lol
