We left Friday at 10:30 and spent the night near Cleveland. This left us with only a 2 hour drive to get to Pittsburgh the next day.
We went straight to the zoo. I was really not wanting to go to the zoo (I feel guilty doing a fun kid thing without the kids) but I'm so glad we did. It's a great zoo. I'm glad DH talked me into going.
Then we found our hotel. They let us check in 3.5 hours early so we went up and showered. The room was very nice, smaller than we expected, but it was nice and in a perfect location.
We headed out to explore the downtown. We just walked around for a few hours and took pictures.
We headed to the ball park around 5:00. DH caught a ball during batting practice. Our seats were amazing. We were in left field, second row. Both Cubs' home runs landed within 4 rows of us. The first home run hit a woman on her wrist as she was covering her face. Son found us on tv a couple times.
After the game (Cubs win!!!) we walked to the Duquesne Incline. DH is not cool with heights but he did it. He told me he was glad I encouraged (made) him. The view from the top overlooks the city, and at night it was really pretty.
We got back to our hotel past midnight, which is pretty wild and crazy for us. We were on the road by 8am and got home 10 hours later.
It was so much fun and we ate a lot of great food. It was so nice to get away for the weekend and celebrate our anniversary without the kids.
Side note - we spent $58.30 on tolls. Thanks, OH and IN.
