It's pretty clear my opinion is way different from everyone else's on here, and I totally wouldn't do this kind of picture... But I think this is stunning. I just wish it didn't look like she has testicles.
I would do this pictures for a boudoir shoot that only stays with FI. That's where I would do this picture.

  • Yeah, between the thigh gap giving her testi-junk and those stupid opera gloves, I can't get down with that picture.

Plus, the angle makes it look like the dress is eight times her size. It's one of those dresses that wears you instead of the other way around.

  • @larrygaga‌ I agree. I would consider it only as something that would stay private. Even then, I'm not sure I'd do it, but that's how I was looking at it. It's not a Facebook profile picture type of photo.

Found this on Facebook rather than Pinterest, but it horrified me:image

They are just jars full of oil and pinecones (AKA kindling). Might as well call them molotov cocktails.

If done correctly, the person making them should use a kind of oil that doesn't burst into flames. Not saying every random person will buy the correct supplies...
  • I'd bet good money it's from a wedding porn, just like a lot of those bridesmaid butt photos.
Lawd those butt photos bother the heck out of me.

.....I would shit bricks if I saw this at a friends house. And I'm not a prudish person in the least.

Wait, so they can have a "Sex pot" proudly displayed in their home, but they have to call it "Doing the Deed?"  Dude, you have a sex pot announcing the number of coins in it= the number of times you've fucked.  You're not classing it up by calling it "Doing the deed,"  just fucking say "Have sex."

  • @HaileyDancingBear I couldn't agree more. I typed it out in a sarcastic tone (but was in a rush and forgot to put the /sarcasm after it).

@hellokellybean same! I am very open when it comes to these kind of things with friends, but I would definitely side eye anyone who did this.

Hmm, I think this maybe stemmed from a joke. You have a jar and put in a penny every time you have sex the first year of marriage, and then after that, you take a penny out every time you have sex, and the joke is you'll never run out of pennies because sex tapers off.

But that jar is so odd.  It sounds like it would be displayed somewhere people could see it "the couple."  That's so weird.

I'm so glad someone started this thread!!! I love Pinterest, don't get me wrong, but the wedding stuff is just a little insane.

A lot of my "peeves" are probably more about my taste than anything but:

The words "rustic" and "vintage" used for EVERYTHING
    Mason jars (sorry!)
Lace and burlap (SN: my fMIL has this on HER wedding board... IDK for who's wedding but it ain't gonna be in mine!)
The "rules" for proposing (must ask parents, must have friends pick out the ring, must be photographed, etc)
Any of the "duties" lists or the "who pays for what" lists!
    GIGANTIC rocks
The "Someday my prince will come..." boards - i.e. the "I'm not actually in a committed relationship but I want to plan my PPD, too!" boards
    "Tiffany Blue"
    Gray and yellow
Christian stuff (I'm agnostic, no offense to anyone religious)
    Ombre

    And my #1:

Unnecessarily abbreviated words. i.e. "adorbs!" or "totes!" or THE WORST OFFENDER EVER: "hilar!"
I totally agree with you on ALL of those!!!!

I think the odd thing is the country themed/rustic themed stuff that has nothing to do with the couple.

I admit, I think if I talked about all my plans you'd think I'm a pinterest nutjob- but a few of the things you mentioned hating- we're doing as it was easy and fit our lifestyle.

We are guilty of a bit of country and burlap- but we're getting married at his family's ranch in the Texas hill country where he grew up, and just thirty minutes from where I spent my summers. We grew up riding horses, fishing and shooting things in the country (I know, it's cliche, but it's true.) We got married in a living room fort- as we love camping.

We have haybales for the wedding ceremony- because his parents have them for the cows- and it saves on seating at the wedding site- so we only need to rent chairs for the reception. I admit it- we found some white fabric we really liked to cover the hay- and it turned out to be burlap- it felt so canvas like, and for waaay less. :( And we are using mason jars as we had a ton- you can't SEE them, as they are hidden by flowers and the arrangments, but they're there... Ever watchful.

We're also doing signs- because it's a giant property with lots of turns- and it's out of old wood from the ranch- and fits in with the signs they already have on the ranch property.

We're not rodeo people, and don't even listen to country music- but some of it just fits for us.

I do NOT understand the burlap and lace thing. That is odd to me. People keep making it TOO country and over the top, with weird ugly little buttons sewn onto lace and burlap. It gets to be too much very quickly.

Keep the twine and burlap off your cake! Who wants micro fibers in their icing?
Keep it out of your bouquet!
Keep it off of your random stuff- like pitches and cake utensils. Why would you do that?
For godsake, don't put it on anyone!

And, I might kill someone if I see that stupid 'here comes the bride' sign one more time.
WE KNOW SHE'S COMING! WHY IS THERE A SIGN?! WHO STARTED THIS?
I don't think it's a big deal to use things that you honestly like. I don't honestly like burlap. So I didn't use it. I will be honest, as a guest, I wouldn't love your hay bale chair idea. A hay bale covered in burlap is not where I want to sit if I'm in a dress. It wouldn't bother me in jeans, but it would rub and be unpleasant in a dress.

One other thing- you said you're getting married soon, but also said you got married in a fort? Does that mean you had a pretend fort wedding when you were kids? Or are you really already married, because you had a real wedding in a fort? Just curious.

I completely agree with this. It sounds like it actually does fit your theme, and that you are trying to keep it relatively toned down. I just hate how everyone seems to want burlap everything, no matter their lifestyle or location.

I somehow envision the candy scoops being used in a ballroom instead of an actual rustic location. That's probably because one of the weddings I went to recently used mason jars, wildflowers, and burlap in a ballroom of a historic hotel, and it had nothing to do with the couple. The worst thing is that there are more barn venues than ballroom venues in the area, so I have no idea what they were thinking. And, it had nothing to do with the couple as I don't think either of them have ever even been on a real farm or ranch.

Also, I'm curious about what @Molly&Domenic asked you as well.

Is that a typo, or did you actually get married in a living room fort? I have nothing against living room forts, I'm just confused.
