Re: wednesday chat

  • I have 2 days left at work.  How am I ever going to survive?!  Why the heck didn't I allow for more vacation before the wedding?!  Ok rant over :o) .

Tonight I get to talk to my officiant's wife (who also is an officiant, just not mine - they tag team things and my officiant is super busy so she's going to go through our wedding with us since we do not get a true rehearsal).  FI had a moment last night about how nothing is going right - my parents aren't coming, there's a high chance for rain (at the moment) and now we can't even talk to our actual officiant before the wedding.  I'm actually Ok with not being able to talk to him, the other things irk me though.

Everything at this point is WR with me ;o); hope you ladies don't mind!

  • Morning!

It was HARD getting up today! H and I met some friends out for drinks last night. We sat outside, the temperature was perfect, right in the heart of Jersey City and it made me realize how much I'm going to miss this place. We've lived here for 7 years so it's feeling a little bittersweet right now. I'll still be here for work everyday but it's not the same. Sigh!

We asked the seller for a credit towards closing costs yesterday and hopefully we hear back from them this morning with good news!

  • @Dignity100 - Omg 6 days!!!! I know it seems like things are not going right but you're going to have a beautiful wedding regardless and at the end of the day you'll be a WIFE! I'm sure it's hard to see the bright side right now but try to think about all the good things!

  • @Dignity100 -WEATHER VIBES for your big day!

@swazzle -I felt that way when I moved away from my college town back to where I was originally from. Every time we go back, it's all nostalgia and memories of good times in college.

Today is going to be super busy. I need to vacuum a bit when I go home on my lunch break so H can steam clean the carpets once he gets home and replace the air filter. Maddux has a bit of a pollen allergy and his poor eyes are all swollen. So we have been giving him some eye disinfectant from the vet. Hopefully that works.

After work I'm going to CrossFit and then giving H's car a bath. It's COVERED in Maddux hair...like everywhere. Then I'll cook dinner and probably try to tackle cleaning the upstairs bathroom.
  • @Swazzle - I hope you get the credit for closing costs!!  I'm sure it's a bittersweet feeling, but how awesome that you're going to have your own place!
  • @southernpeach89 - poor Maddux!  Bella has allergies, too, poor thing.  she still wouldn't eat last night (ugh, IBS) so we talked to that vet.  we got her to eat a bite or two of plain yogurt and then er picked up some soft food he recommended.  she was feeling MUCH better today, whew!

Wednesdays are always busy, but I think it helps me get over the "hump".  did you end up getting to go to CrossFit last night, @southernpeach89?

@Dignity100 - I can't believe it's almost here!  I hope that you're excited, even though your parents are not being supportive like they should.
  • LOVE IT! That song just started my morning off right!

I'm feeling better today. I really had a bit of a freak out last night over these looming layoffs, but H and I discussed it and really there's nothing we can do other than prepare for the worst financially as much as we can in the mean time. I'm planning to just keep working my butt off at the offfice and keep a positive attitude. Plus, H is worried that if I let the stress get to me I'll affect the pregnancy...and neither of us want that.

Craft projects always put me in a happy mood, so I'm trying to think of one to do this weekend. Maybe a fall wreath for the door?

  • @Swazzle - I know in the end the little things do not matter, I just think it's funny how much of a disaster things COULD be.  It's still too far out to predict the weather.  The one site says it is supposed to rain no more than 2 1/2 hrs in the afternoon, so if that's the case, if it started at the exact time our wedding started, we'd still have time for pictures outdoors and we did opt for pictures at our dessert party.  The ballroom is a ballroom and to me, it's not a pretty one; but it is what it is.  I'm sure everything will work out and we'll have a great day even if nothing goes according to plan.

Moving is emotional.  It's a lot of change and there's a lot of memories that I know you feel like you'll be leaving behind, but you'll be making memories at the new place and you'll find other places that you love there too!!  Think of your cat sanctuary :o)

    Here's the ballroom:

  • @Dignity100 OMG it's almost here. Sending good weather vibes to you!

My life is so boring at the moment.  I'm half way through reading the book Atonement I've been dying to read it forever and it's not too exciting, but I'm determined to finish it.  I'm looking forward to AHS tonight too.

  • woo-hoo!!  I'm off today at 3:15 so I'm going to stop and get a mani/pedi after work.  my hands and feet are looking scraggly, ugh.
  • @CocoBellaF- Yes I went and it felt great to be back in there. We did a lot of cardio and abs so it's just what I needed. Tonight it's more weight lifting so I'll get my strength in today and probably go for a run afterwards.
  • Good Morning!!!

H's car is in the shop so I had to get up extra early to take him to work. I'm tired and not feeling well. The last several days I've woken up nauseous -_-     Hopefully H gets his car back today!

My day at work is going to be slow.  I only have 3 inmates to see...normally I have at least 10, so idk what to with myself now that I dont have a wedding to plan in my spare time.

  • @CocoBellaF I love that rendition! I love big band style covers of current music.

@Dignity100 6 days! That is so close! I hope the chance of rain clears up and I hope that everything starts turning around.

@Swazzle Good luck with the closing costs!

@southernpeach89 I've seen you mention going to CrossFit before, and I was just wondering how long you have been going and how you like it? I've been considering starting.

@allusive007 It's good that you are feeling better today, but it sucks that you still have the looming possibility of being laid off. I think that making a fall wreath sounds like a great project.

@severmilli12 I hope the car is ready today!

Things have been a little crazy on my end. Been sick, went to two weddings, and have big changes coming up. My stepdad was laid off (very unexpectedly), and my parents are looking at this as an opportunity to move to Maine to be closer to family. I'm not quite ready to move out of state, so I'll be moving in with BF if the job possibilities I have lined up pan out. If I get the permanent job, it's a two year commitment. It's not in my field at all, but it's a job helping people, which is something I would love to do. So everything seems to be up in the air at the moment.

  • Postmodern Jukebox is fantastic!

@dignity100 I wish I could hug you. Only 6 more days of stress and then you get to be married, though!

I accidentally slept in a bit today, so my experiment is going to go late. Hopefully, my undergrad will pull through for me tonight and take care of the 9pm step I have. She's been up earlier than I have been, but she also lives a 5 minute walk from the lab, so ...

Tonight is the first night in a while that J and are both home after work, so we can relax. The past two weeks, we've either been out or we've had a houseguest.

  • @bookishgiraffes -It's awesome, I'm totally obsessed with it. Mainly because it has been the only thing I've seen (besides when I did gymnastics) that has made a visual difference in my appearance. I started a year ago in September and H and I love going to it during the week. We sometimes go on Saturdays but the weekend is our time to let our bodies relax from the workouts. They are pretty intense but our coaches are very conscious about letting us go at our own pace and level so we aren't pressured to do more than what we can handle. You should give it a trial run and see what you think. Don't let the negative opinions about it scare you.
  • @LaPeanut1018- I think we are using the regular ones but I don't think that's what is causing his allergies. He was outside a lot this weekend at H's mom's house so I think that may have triggered it. We are changing out air filter tonight so I'm sure that will help clear it up.
  • @southernpeach89 - Yea it's a tough feeling. I'm excited but nervous!

@CocobellaF - I hope so too! I've been checking my email like a mad woman since yesterday morning. Enjoy your mani/pedi!

@allusive007 - I'm determined to become a crafty homeowner and I'm dying to make a fall wreath for our front door. I've been checking out Pinterest for ideas :)

@Dignity100 - I'm holding out hope that it'll be typical FL weather, a little brief sprinkle then beautiful sunshine!

@Peaseblossom55 - I'm so excited for AHS but there's no way I'll be able to stay up for it tonight. Hopefully I can squeeze it in before the Devils game tomorrow!

  • @dignity100, doing the sun dance for you!

@bookishgiraffes, good job vibes for you and your stepdad.

I'm jumping on the Postmodern Jukebox train - this is exactly what I needed to start my day.

It's homework day up here. I have to go learn what on earth a patched conic is because I guarantee we didn't cover that in class. My first exam in rocketry went really well, but I think we were graded more on our ability to apply the concepts than to actually do the problems.

It's church supper and worship tonight, but I have no idea what's on the menu. Surprise meal! Then we're going to watch Brave because FI and I actually haven't seen that yet. Keep knitting on the blankets ... I'm a little worried, the coordinator for the craft show I want to be in has been MIA, so I'm thinking if this falls apart I'm going to have baby blankets and no way to move them. Perhaps Etsy to the rescue.
  • @KeptInStitches - I know, isn't it a fun way to start the day?  I've been singing it in my head and bopping along all morning.  my co-workers probably think I'm crazy, but it put me in a good mood!
  • @bookishgiraffe - Job vibes headed your way! That sounds like a tough situation with everything so up in the air but I hope it all works out.

@LaPeanut1018 - AHH FINAL DRESS FITTING!!!! I can't even believe it! Can't wait for pics!!!

@KeptInStitches - Rocketry?! Holy shit! Remind me again what you're studying?

  • @Dignity100 - I'm sorry you're so stresses out right before your wedding, Still, I know you're going to be SO HAPPY on your wedding day, and you'll end the day married to the man you love!

@Swazzle - Keeping my fingers crossed for all your house things to finish up smoothly!

I was really stressed/upset on the drive home from work yesterday, and spent most of it crying to my little sister, then to my mom. For the first few years after college I felt like I was doing SO WELL compared to my peers. I was getting raises and promotions every year and steadily moving up at a great company. Then, I decided it was time for a change, and got a job that turned out to be TERRIBLE. It was so bad, I quit it without having another job lined up (something I had never imagined doing before). I was unemployed for 7 months, and eventually hired by the father of a girl I was babysitting, who is the president of a small industrial company. Although the job is super low-stress, has great hours, and my boss is happy with my performance, I really miss feeling challenged and valuable at work. Everyone else who works here has literally been here or in the industry for DECADES, so I feel like I still know absolutely nothing after 7 months. Aside from that, I'm also making less money than I have in years. However, I know that now is not the right time to look for another new job.

I feel like I'm straddling two different parts of my life - one side of me wants to jump around to different jobs and find something that could be a challenging/interesting long-term career. The other part of me knows that within the next two year, I may be VERY grateful for a stable, low stress job with great hours (we've talked about TTC right after the wedding).

Anyways, after talking with FI and my mom and sister, I decided that I really want to and need to re-focus on my Etsy business - both to bring in a little extra money and to feel fulfilled professionally.

Sorry for that wall of text.

Aside from that, I am counting down the minutes until I get to meet my mom in the city tomorrow and PUT ON MY WEDDING DRESS!!!!!!

  • @swazzle I'm really hoping it better than last season.  I'm hoping to stay awake for it too, I'm exhausted for some reason.

  • @swazzle, I'm less than a year from a PhD in chemical engineering. I need this class for the credits to keep my assistantship. This is for fun, which probably makes me weird, but there you have it. Rocketry this semester, explosives next semester ... it's the energetics series.

The greatest danger would be that I would run off and join the Mythbusters, but since they got rid of Kari, Tory, and Grant over the summer, I'm thinking there might not be a lot of stability in that future anymore.
  • TGIW! Here's to hoping the rest of the week will be better than the beginning.

We have soccer practice again tonight, followed by church. I think I'm coming down with a cold, I've had a low grade fever the past 2 days and I just feel drained. And then I woke up with allergies out of control this morning. I really hope things clear up, or I'll be skipping church tonight and sleeping.

@Dignity100 - What time is the wedding? Lately our rain pattern has been for later afternoon storms (around 4-6p). We had that front move through over the weekend, so we've dried out this week, but before that the storms were later afternoon. I'll be doing the sunshine dance for you in SIX DAYS!

  • @southernpeach89 - I think Loki has a bit of allergies that have developed in his old age - he has some hot spots on his back and belly.  The stuff the vet gave us didn't even touch the hot spots!  I'm swapping out his food (just in case) and I'm going to give him immune boosters when I get back from my wedding.  I am thinking he might be allergic to ragweed or something outside as it just started in the fall (he had it last year too but it was really mild).  We're taking him to an allergy vet but the soonest I could get in was Jan 5!!  The food I am switching to is Wellness Simple Turkey as it was in my budget and rated pretty well for allergy sufferers.

  • @Hummingbird125 - Ugh that's really tough. I wish I had some advice but I'm super terrible when it comes to job/work stuff. I just send problem-solving vibes and hugs and wine :) I demand real-time photos tomorrow night!

@Peaseblossom55 - I liked last season better than the 2nd but nothing compares to the 1st! I actually really want to rewatch the first season since it was so epic.

@KeptInStitches - THAT IS BAD ASS!

@Ollie08 - H is really sick right now too, I had to make him a doctor's appointment for later today. I really hope you feel better!
