He asked my mom for her blessing.

She probably said..."TAKE HER!" haha kidding. (maybe)

My fi called my parents and asked if he could go over one day when he was off from work... My Dad kind of had a feeling what it was about. When fi got to their house, he and my Mom were just BSing when my Dad decended down the stairs wearing a robe and carrying his gun (it was unloaded, he's in law enforcement, and this was his type of joke lol)!

Yep! I told him the two things I wanted when he proposed was him to have asked my dad and for him to surprise me! He suceeded on both accounts!

He asked my mom and my best friend who's stationed overseas. Funny story, the day of he went to the bathroom at breakfast but he was really going to call my mom. Well I looked at the calendar and realized it was my little sisters 8th grade graduation so I called my mom to talk to her. As FI walked up to the table he hears me say "Hi mom." He said he panicked because he was just sure she would blow it but I didn't even notice! Actually, there were a lot of things on that trip that would have normally tipped me off but didn't. Disneyland euphoria i guess.

Fi took my dad to lunch and asked him. Than he asked my mom. After both of there blessing eh called my brother and sister to ask them.

Mine asked for there blessings from my parents and grandparent (we are very close), FI's sister's now FI actually asked my FI for his blessing before he proposed. We are all very close FI's family and my family..

he took my parents out to dinner the night before we left for our trip where he proposed. i was working and didn't know anything about it. He also asked my brothers permission because they were friends before we started dating and my brother and I are very close.

no -- however he DID show my ering to my mom and gma before he purposed....

I told him that I'm the one that has to spend the rest of my life with him -- not my parents...so there's no point in asking...

He did. My dad definitely appreciated it, and I'm so glad that he asked. I love hearing about the conversation they had! My dad said he thought FI might ask him because he could tell FI was super nervous! He also called my sister to ask/tell her he wanted to propose. She was glad that he included her as well.

My FI did not ask. I'm not really close with my parents so I didn't care and he knows my relationship with them so he didn't bother.

These are sweet stories!

We just went to my parents' house for a visit. I knew he was going to ask them (we had talked about it). My dad had just bought a new car, so I said that I wanted to test drive it and took my youngest brothers out for a joyride so they could have time alone.
