Re: Partner Brag

  • @novella1186 Thanks! It's a good thing he's cute - makes it easier to still love on him, even after he pees in secret places that we don't find until days later. Sigh.

@sarawifenow I can't handle his cuteness sometimes. We're thinking he's Yorkie and mini Schnauzer. He's definitely got the personality of a schnauzer.

@birdybride2014 He is the definition of adorable. H is just head over heels about our pup. They are seriously the best of friends. Fred gets sad when dad leaves the house and just mopes around.

HIS NAME IS FRED?! did you say that before or did I miss it? omgsh his cute factor just went up 1000%
It is! H is a huge Buffalo Bills fan so I agreed to let him name the pup after a Bills player. So his full name is Fred Jackson.

  • Even though FI is super ill (I had to rush him to emerg on Sunday. He turned blue and fell over and I couldn't wake him up. That's another story) he still managed to tidy the house, do the dishes and find time to make the bed.  I asked why and he said because he loves me and deserve it.  I love him.
  • @loveislouder--I hope your FI is ok! That's super scary.

@sarawifenow 1) I love your name now. It's amazing. 2) We waited for 8 HOURS at the hospital. I was ready to kill someone.  But he's doing a bit better, thanks :)

ETA: Should actually respond to what was said. Not 100% here right now.
  • @loveislouder--Thank you! 8 hours?! That is insanity. Hopefully it was well worth it.

  • I'm terrible at motivating myself to work out. We got our Engagement photos back the other day and while they are absolutely wonderful I was a little sad about some double chinness that I had going on. I jokingly told FI that I needed him to help motivate me and 'make me' work out even when I don't want to.

I got home from work the other day and he had laid out my workout gear on the bed, had my mat and weights and water bottle set up with the tv on with my workout video paused and ready to go. And then while I was working out he made a healthy supper so as soon as I got showered and changed I sat at the table and supper was served.

I almost cried. It was such a wonderful way of motivating me without being all 'you need to work out' or 'stop being so lazy' etc.
Can I hire him?? That's exactly what I need!

My FI is really awesome at being supportive of my grad school work.  He is quick to tell me to spend as much time on school as I need to.  "School first, FI second!" is what he always tells me.  And he's good at calming me down when I get all flustered and anxiety ridden over class (or anything else).

  • I bought a 2 flat with my sister 7 years ago (worst mistake possible, never buy with family). I haven't lived there in 5 years for a variety of reasons. Sunday night I discover that the furnace is completely dead and the hot water heater is about to die. I have renters in my unit and my sister/BIL/niece in the other unit. I'm financially responsible for my unit.

Our finances are not merged yet (though we talk about doing it) but DH offered to sell his beloved spare care to help cover the cost. He also canceled some plans he has with friends on Saturday to install a new hot water heater. He's in school full time and working full time so I know what a sacrifice this is for him.

Fortunately, I can pay for it without selling his car but I'm so touched that he offered. And incredibly relieved that he can change the hot water heater himself.

I hate owning the building and am perpetually scared about more crap going wrong on it. Having DH in my life makes it less scary because I know that we can handle any of it together.

  • @wandajune6 Can you sell your share?
  • FI sent me cookies at work!!!! The card said "I was going to send you flowers, but then...COOKIES! Love, FI". No reason at all...he's sweet like that.

And yeah, I like cookies better then flowers.
  • @wandajune6 Can you sell your share?
@loveislouder - I can't- it needs to be the entire building at once. It's a major source of contention as I've been losing money on it for years. She promises that we'll get rid of it this year but I've heard that the last 2 years. She understands that this week's issues are the last straw.

If this was a situation of buying with a friend or stranger, I would have taken legal action. It's a bit different when it's your twin sister and - apart from this - best friend.

  • I've been feeling extra depressed lately and have let it take over a bit instead of getting my meds changed. After I told him I've come to terms with this and ready to get new meds, he told me that no matter what he's going to marry me and cannot wait for me to be his wife. He made me smile for the first time in almost 2 weeks. I love him and his constant support.

  • DH beat me home from work today, which rarely happens.  He put the laundry away, started dinner and also put the last of the groceries away (dry stuff I left on the counter at lunch).  He is the best.

He also got his promotion at work last week, so I'm super proud of him for that too.

  • @loveislouder--Thank you! 8 hours?! That is insanity. Hopefully it was well worth it.
Yeah, 8 hours is unreasonable! Is that how long it took for him to be seen or is that how long y'all were just there?

We waited 6.5 hours to be seen, and after 8 hours they sent us home and said keep taking Advil. You'll be fine. I was not okay with that.

  • DH cooks delectable meals for me so I can focus on cookin' the Bean (read: I'm not a good cook and we would all starve if left to my culinary graces so he plays chef with a smile, even when it's my "week"). AND, he still doesn't judge me for my ongoing craving of all things toaster strudels.

Yeah...no. I would be livid. We had to take FI to the ER for a yellow jacket sting (he's highly allergic) and they asked him to have a seat and wait to be called. I looked at the lady checking us in and said, "Did you not hear me say that he is going into anaphylactic shock and isn't breathing well. We will be seen...NOW!" ER's make me so ragey.

I really hope your FI is doing okay and that is wasn't anything too serious!

Follow up with his doctor.  ERs just solve the emergent problem. If the problem does not reproduce itself and he seems okay, they will just street him.  Your doctor is much more inclined to get down to the root of the problem.  Whether it be testing for allergies, x-ray, etc., his doctor will more than likely want to find the source to make sure he is okay.
  • DH, then FI, used to clean up the apartment spotless while I was at work. I'd come home and there would be flowers on our spotless countertop. It was amazing.

Now he works all the time. So I try to cook for him when he's home for 30 minutes.

Even though he was tired, he sucked it up and we had AMAZING sex last night because I texted him at work that I was sad and lonely and needed some passion and his arms around me. He more than delivered. ;)

  • I had a long day at work on Monday, and when I got home, FI was already starting dinner and the table was set (usually this is my job). We cooked and ate together, and then FI cleared my plate and said he'd clean up the rest. He told me to go hop in a hot shower and put my pajamas on and that he'd have tea ready and our show que'd up on the DVR when I was all done. :-) Keeper!

  • FI is taking me to stay in a treehouse this weekend in Eureka Springs, ARK - treehouse doesn't sound so great on its own, but they are amazing!  I can't wait.  And yes - that jetted tub is big enough for 2!  :)

    THAT LOOKS AMAZING!

  • I've been busy but now I have time to brag! Monday was my 21st birthday but V and I decided to celebrate on Saturday since it would be more convenient. So we made reservations at this fancy place that look amazing and I was very excited. I thought we were going to be late though since there was an accident. Also V wanted to stop to get some toms for his stomach, so I was a little annoyed.

But when we got there the place was really nice so I completely forgot my annoyance. They say our table is ready and they take us to the back. Imagine my surprise when I saw my mom and my aunt Wanda! I wasn't expecting them at all since Wanda lives in Wyoming and my mom lives in DC. They had to sneak in the back so I wouldn't see them! V did this all by himself. When he went to get "toms" he actually was calling the restaurant to make sure everything was in place! We had an amazing dinner and it was the best birthday ever.
