@hellosweetie1015‌ please don't wait with bated breathe. Lol. It could be a while. Dh isn't home and I can't get the pics by myself.
Still waiting. Turning a little purple. I'll be fine though, no hurry *passes out*. :D

@arrippa Is that a blue rose with fire? It was really dark on my screen. It looked really pretty, I just couldn't see it well... :/

@hellohkb I LOVE THE MILKSHAKE. And now I want a milkshake. How do you keep that on you 24/7 and not eat all the ice cream always???? :D
Thank you! FH took me on our first date to get milkshakes so it does have some sentimental value behind it. I'm not a huge dessert girl but I've been reaching for more sugar since it I got it haha!
    That. Is. Adorable.
Yeah, the lighting it terrible where I am. I lightened the picture.
Your brother drew that? It's beautiful.
He did. I told him what I wanted and he drew it up. I am hoping I can get his help with my next one as well. I have been thinking an outline of flowers (just outline no color) on my shoulders.

I have 6, and I'm willing/able to show pictures of 2 of them, haha. 2 are in a place that would be most highly inappropriate for a not-porn website, and 2 are super old and shitty and faded (and one of these is on my back, so I'm not even sure HOW to take a picture of that one). I got all but 1 of them when I was 18, and they desperately need a really overdue touch-up. Anyway, here you go:

Where are the 2 inappropriate ones? Not to be creepy. But how was the process of getting them done?

  • @Sugargirl1019 Around my nipples. I do not recommend, heh. I don't think I've ever experienced anything more painful.
  • This is my only one but I've been itching for more since (almost 2 years ago!) . Had it done in honour of my grandparents, specifically my grandma... They always had a connection to birds; jokes, riddles, collectables, and my music box. The day of my grandmother's funeral that music box started playing on its own.

Done by Steve Baker of Steve Baker tattoos in Guelph. That guy is awesome! Was quick, painless, and most importantly he totally got me and the old school but 'me' design I was hoping for.
  • Dumb question, @beethery ... How did you wash off the Vatican tattoo?

    Tattoo aftercare:

Wash your tattoo with dial soap (if you're not allergic) when you get home from your session. Pat dry. Take pictures before it gets scabby.

  • What do y'all use to keep them from getting too dry? I keep trying new things, but I actually like unscented oatmeal lotion. Everything else just feels too greasy.

@Gustafson28‌ that's beautiful. My mom is thinking about getting one in memory of her mom, so I think I'll leave that for her. My rose is in memory of a friend of mine, so I know how special those can be.

@esstee33‌ that is definitely something I know I could never consider, my pain tolerance is nowhere near high enough. Brave woman.

  • I mean, if you want. I really just love mine. I love seeing y'all's beautiful selves, and your tattoos are a part of that beautiful self. (If you don't wanna that's cool too. I guess I just really wanted to show mine off because I don't get nearly enough opportunities to.)
I suspect you might appreciate my newest one, OP. :)

  • @hellosweetie1015 I was pretty high when I got them, so I wouldn't call it bravery necessarily, haha.

    @porkchops926 My people!
  • I only have a picture of one. I have 4 altogether. This one I had touched up this summer. I originally got it when I was 19. But bonus, you can sort of also see the one on the back of my neck. That is one the scales for my zodiac sign, with a G at the top for my maiden name.

  • Love everyone's tattoos! I didn't see this thread until I got to work but I'll AW mine later tonight - four in total.

I love tattoo theads! I have 7 so far. I have a swirly heart behind my ear, a raven on my inner bicep, an anchor and wave on my collarbone, a compass on my deltoid, a rosary on my shoulder blade that I dont have a picture of, a skeleton key on my outside wrist, and half of a lyric from H and I's first dance song on my upper forearm...he has the other half.

  • I have a small flower on my ankle that I got at 18 and forget I have 95% of the time. Then I got this one:
    image

Which is on the inner left arm (for reference):
    image

Didn't think I'd ever get one so visible, but I decided I actually wanted to see it a lot because it reminds me that everything - the good & the bad - is temporary so dig in deep, feel it to it's fullest, then let it go and ready yourself the next of life's adventures.

I'd love to get another script of some sort on my back, but I haven't yet found the words I think I'll like for ever ;)

  • I have 2. A rosycroix on my back and the words "Stronger than you think I am" around my ankle. It's my reminder to myself than I am capable of getting through whatever life throws at me. I'm itching for a third but I haven't found one that means something to me yet. Hope these work!

My sister actually considered getting one like this.

I think my next one after my collarbone is going to be a colorful rorschach blot in the general (although not perfect) shape of a tree, with an Eiffel Tower hidden in the trunk. It's hard to describe without drawing it out, but I'm excited about it nonetheless.

  • These are all so pretty and cool!

I don't have any tats, but FI has one on his left shoulder that I love. It's the red Zanarkand Abes symbol from FFX. I've considered getting a matching one in blue on my left scapula, but I am 1) a wuss and 2) a cronic waffler about making big decisions. I got a flower henna tattoo once on my foot/ankle that was super pretty and would be cool as a permanent tat, but ouch!

  • I really admire you guys. I love tattoos but there is nothing I like enough to know I wouldn't wish I didn't do it or would like to change after a short time.

I don't have any tattoos yet, but I really want my cat's paw print, maybe on my ankle or foot area.

I also want a painting style tattoo of either a cardinal or a gladiola for my grandma.  She used to paint and she loves flowers and birds and her favourites are gladiolas and cardinals.  I think I'd get it on my shoulder or something like that, though.
tattoo done like a painting. Just cool looking
Also, question for @MagicInk does a tattoo artist have the right to refuse to do a certain tattoo for someone?  Example, if someone wanted a swastika or a creepy as fuck tattoo of a baby on their crotch or something.
    image
  • Yeah, and how do you deal with copyright infringement, @MagicInk ?

  • @doeydo I LOVE the cat paw prints. As you know, my cat died a couple weeks ago. Well, I just got her remains back from the crematory company. They put together this really beautiful package of her ashes in a box with her name on a tag hanging from the lock as well as a little bit of her fur in a little baggy and lastly a plaster imprint of one of her paws. I cried my eyes out about her paw imprint.

YES I want a hug. Thank you!

The only thing that bugs me about the plaster imprint is that her paw pads seem spread out more than what is "normal" or like what the tattoo you showed is. Kitty's regular paw look is something I would totally tattoo on myself and never regret or want to change. But that ship has passed now.

Tattoo parlours, like any business, can absolutely refuse service if they believe someone is behaving inappropriately (which would encompass requesting an overtly racist symbol). That's why most of those really offensive tattoos you see are obviously really poorly done, because no legitimate, good tattoo artist (read: not desperate and able to cherry-pick their work when necessary) will do them.

I edited to remove the pics in the original posts since they're gorgeous, but huge.

Also ETA: Oops, sorry, I'm not MagicInk! lol But I dated a tattoo artist who made sure he was very informed of his rights to refuse service since we live in the state where the KKK leader lives. :/

DO IT! I wish I had now.
