  • esstee33, I love your new sig pic!
Me too! I have a Puggle and so anything Pug related I LOVE.

  • @esstee33, @teddygirl9, my e-ring is from Etsy and I have been all over it since looking for a band, but my issue is that my ring looks weird with straight bands, I don't wear diamonds (or any other stone that can't guarantee an ethical origin...same with the metal, I prefer stuff not mined in developing countries), and I'd also like something not too solid because my e-ring has a lot of open spaces in it and is kind of old-fashioned in style.

I am hideously picky. I also contacted the seller who did my e-ring and they don't do 100% custom, only pieces from the moulds or whatever they already have with your choice of shape/size/stone, so that's not an option either.

Like I said...just so picky. I am a nightmare and I apparently also don't have any taste because I hate almost everything I see, lol.

I'm starting to think I just won't wear a wedding band at all because I'm not happy with any of them.

  • TBH I feel like the two different metals for the rings thing is a fad and will look dated in the future.  Just a thought.

I feel like I pimp this website constantly, but I'm probably getting my wedding ring from twobirch.com. They have a ton of different options with curved bands (including many in silver) & different stones, so you can get not-diamonds. I doubt the rubies and sapphires are ethically mined, but they also have CZ. And you can do the perfect fit thing, where you make a mold of your ring and send it back to them, so they make sure your wedding band fits alongside your e-ring. My e-ring is impossible to match exactly and straight bands have a HUGE gap, so I'm really seriously leaning toward this, since it's only an extra $10. I'd be cool with a small gap, but no gap would be better.

I just noticed they have an Etsy store, too -- I've only looked at their actual website, but it seems they have good reviews on Etsy!
  • My wedding band and e-ring are both rose gold. H commisioned the e-ring from one jeweler and I then had a local guy make a ring to fit it.

  • I remember checking that out and I appreciate the link, but this is exactly why I'm having so much trouble with it- I look at that website and there are literally hundreds of options and none of them are anything like my style (and I must be a huge snob too because I shudder at the idea of CZ too...too many memories of the stuff my grandmother used to order from the Avon catalog in my childhood?)

Part of the issue is obviously that I know nothing about jewelry and have no idea how to communicate what I like. And clearly the only thing I do like is the ring I already have, haha.

Below is my e-ring and a picture of the band I ordered and sent back if it explains further why I'm such an argumentative brat who's not happy with anything...

  • Both my rings are white gold. The e ring he designed and had a local jeweller make, and we went back there for my wedding band. They had a white gold plain band in stock that fit me and went well with the e ring, so that worked out great. I planned to have them make a band to match if they didn't have anything that would work.

@esstee33 @teddygirl9‌ I've looked online and found what I think I want, but FI wants the warranty that he got with my e-ring. It covers stone loss, resizing, and anything else that could possibly happen to it. I'm not so worried with the band as it'll be just a plain band, but it's something that's a big deal to him. And I'm really not picky, as long as it's not expensive.

We actually priced having a silver band made to match the silhouette of my e-ring but it was gonna be about $500. So that was a no.

Eta the other tag I had to go back and find

  • @amelisha Did you send it back because you ended up not liking it in person, or because you don't like how it looks with your e-ring specifically?
  • OP, if you do decide to go with the rose gold band(s), I recommend getting it/them soldered to your e-ring. Any rings next to each other will rub and wear at the metal, but platinum doesn't get worn off for the most part, just moved around, while gold wears away. If the rose bands have diamonds, the prongs that are on the side next to your e-ring will get damaged from the friction unless the rings are soldered.

Otherwise I love wearing multiple tones of metals together.

  • So I fought with the jeweler because my engagement ring is "white" gold but it looks yellow. He kept saying that all white gold looks that yellow, and if I've ever seen it more white then it was alloy dipped. And he doesn't do dipping because it requires maintenance.
Then we bought my band from him and it's also "white" gold but it looks SO much more white with practically no yellow. It pisses me the fuck off because I'm like you said you don't dip your white golds, so how the fuck is one more white than the other? They should match....
I've kind of just given up and gotten over it, but clearly it still pisses me off that my E ring isn't as "white".

I think the picture with the rose gold is pretty. My mom has a necklace that's a braid of white gold, yellow gold, and rose gold and I've always loved it.

@jenna8984 - Is it rhodium plated? Most white gold is, otherwise it does look yellow.

Even if they're not dipped, since white gold is an alloy it can be a whole range of colors depending on how much nickel, etc is in it. Sorry he gave you the run around though. That would make me mad.

Yes that's what I meant. He kept telling me that he refuses to rhodium plate the stuff he sells so it will look yellow. Fine. But then he sold me a band that is practically white to go with it, so I'm like how the fuck is this one so white if you don't plate stuff??

Yeahhhh, I'd just take them to another jeweler and have them both dipped.

Just with my ring, mostly. It just didn't fit right. Both next to my ring (might need something curved) and just the width of it, like I felt closing my fingers was uncomfortable. And it maybe had too much detail for a narrow band?

I'm looking at white gold for ease of finding it. My e-ring is silver, and silver would be my first choice for my band, but I've yet to find just a silver band in any store - apparently silver is "not a band metal." -.-

    We'll see.
Let me know if you have any luck. I am losing my mind trying to find a silver band too.
Have you ladies looked on etsy? There are a ton of custom rings there, and I know I've seen silver listed.
I'm getting my silver band from Etsy!

  • Get one of each! You can either stack or change depending on what you feel like.

I also want to get a mokume band as a wear alone band (w/o e-ring).

I thought about doing a stack but I think it might be a bit much with my ring which has a lot to it to begin with.  Unless I do a stack and wear it on my left hand and switch my e-ring,...

Definitely a concern of mine,  I've been wearing mixed metal jewelry for years but mostly costume jewelry

  • I love the pic of the rose gold bands with that white gold e-ring.  Rose gold is very pretty!

Both my rings are white gold - from different stores with different warranties - so no soldering for me.  Guess it's a good thing we got the lifetime plan so I can get them both re-dipped as often as I need - I've already had to have the e-ring re-dipped once only 6 months in because it had yellow patches showing through.

  • My band and my e-ring are both white gold.

I have seen some beautiful yellow gold bands paired with white gold E-Rings. We almost went that route.

  • @lacqueredlover‌ have you thought of a platinum band with champagne or other coloured diamonds to emulate the two tone look but not have to worry about the other issues with mixed metals? It's like having your cake and eating it too. Which is awesome because cake

    Mmmm I do love cake!

I'm not a fan of colored diamonds, if I wanted a color I would just get a different stone so I'd prefer to stick with the white diamonds

  • My engagement ring is a cushion with diamonds down the band.  I tried on a wedding band the same size as my engagement ring band but it just looked plain and kind of boring.  I decided that I needed something a bit beefier... plus the single band looked dumb on my hand alone, and I plan on wearing my band alone some days just for a change.

As long as the price is right (this will be 100% custom from my jeweler), I'm going to do two rows of small diamonds, brick set.  I'll attach a photo.  The one I'm wearing in the attached photo is three rows brick set, but I only want two.  Sorry that it's teeny and kinda blurry... best I got for now since I don't have the actual ring for real yet.  Both will be white gold... I'm a matchy matchy girl.

I think later, I will just buy a fun ring to stack on top... perhaps light pink stones in rose gold.  Thin like my engagement ring band.

Or you could just wear a spacer...

  • yeah I"m not doing soldering or anything like that.

  • Yeah I would never recommend that. But your ring does have alot going on. I'm not sure if you can try on different bands and take photos? Then look back a day later and see what you think?

I have time so I definitely can figure it out.  I will see if I can take photos for sure!

    I found more pretties.

The more I look at pictures of this, the more I love the idea.
  • I already want to see if the jeweler H got my set from will custom-make a second band with birthstones in place of the diamonds... and this thread is making me want like 6 different bands to swap out at my whimsy. Can that be a thing?
