  • In the spirit of Christian joy?  WTF?

  • I had the same issue, I knew my parents (my mom) would want their names on the invite. They are hosting, but they are helping with some parts of the wedding as are my fiance's parents... everyone knows the wedding is being done by my fiance and myself with our parents help. that is why we still chose to add our parents names to the invitations. The Save The Dates went out with our names and the RSVP's will have our names as well. That's just what we did, whether it's right or wrong.

Sorry, but it's wrong per etiquette, regardless of how right it feels to you. We don't have to agree with your decision if it's not supported by etiquette.
  • My parents are hosting, however, my FI's parents insisted that they needed to have their name included on the invite as well (for relatives who wouldn't know who my FI was without my future in-laws names on the invite). It was extremely frustrating for me because they are not helping pay for the wedding in the slightest so why should they be recognized on the invite? I just didn't get it, but to save myself the headache later, I included them. This is how we worded our invites:

Mr. & Mrs. Bride's Parents Names
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter

    My name
    to
    FI's name
Son of Mr. & Mrs. FI's Parents Names

It's not traditional, but I'm okay with this.
