New Years Eve Plans

What are y'all doing for NYE? Any fun plans?

FI spent Christmas with me so I'm flying out Wednesday to spend NYE with him. That's about the extent of our plans. We're torn between staying in or going out and pretending we can still drink like we used to be able to do.

Re: New Years Eve Plans

  • H has to work NYE, so I am planning on having wine and watching Netflix on my couch. My midnight kiss will be from my dog and cat.

  • I am going to a party that I have absolutely zero desire to go to.

We are going to H's Friend's house, and I kind of just don't like these friends. They are nice people and all, but we have nothing in common. They live out in the country, and spend their days fixing beat up old cards, 4 wheeling, and shooting shit. That just is not my (or H's, by the way) scene. The worst part is that the female half of the couple is trying desperately to be my friend, and I feel bad because I am not really interested.

But mostly, I'm upset that it's not the kind of party that I can wear a super-blingy dress to. Poo!
  • We're having a party at our house. It started off small, but now we're expecting about 35 people. I have a lot of running around to do!

I feel you. That's pretty much what I told FI. I don't want to put on real clothes if I can't put on a blingy dress and be fancy.

  •   We are going to a murder mystery party one of our theater friends is putting on. I'm looking forward to it!
  • We have my soon to be step kids so we are staying in this year.  Another couple is coming over and we will watch the Phish live stream and drink wine and eat cheese and cupcakes!

  • We're throwing a NYE party at our place and I'm super excitied cause I bought a new dress to wear.
  • we are thinking of cooking steak and having a few glasses of wine and watch movies.

  • I'll be working a full day, most likely, since I have to do month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financials. Then I'll be prepping a shitload of food for the million and one people who are coming over on New Year's Day. If DH is lucky, he might be able to wrestle me out of the kitchen at midnight for a kiss. Maybe.

  • FI is probably going to get called in because one plant got decommissioned today and all of the other plants are scrambling to fill up the space left behind by that one's closing.

I'm going to be drinking raspberry wine/asti mixes by myself and singing to the animals. I think I did that last year too.

  • Working.

I'm told they shot off the fireworks at 10pm.  Same time as the Times Sq ball drop.   After the fireworks everyone leaves.  I'm hoping to be home by mid-night.

  • I think H wants to have a party at our place.  So I will probably be up in our bedroom with a shit ton of Chinese food, my pup staring and drooling as I eat, and crappy tv on.  I really don't like NYE and just do not get the point of it.  Woo a new year, wow like that doesn't happen every freaking January 1st.

H absolutely hates New Year's Eve, so we've been staying in the past few years. I love New Year's Eve, so he told me to go out and enjoy myself this year. He feels bad that he sort of brings me down and keeps me in with him.

So, I'm heading to Michigan to visit some friends, play board games, watch a bunch of '80s movies, and hang out. H said I can give him a kiss when I get back to Chicago. :)

I feel sort of weird about it, but he keeps assuring me that he really, really hates this holiday and does not mind one little bit if I'm not home for it. I need to stop projecting the way I'd feel onto the way he feels. The more I think about it, the more I realize he's probably excited about having a couple days to himself. ;)
  • DH and I will be going to a nice restaurant for a prix fix dinner on the earlier side with his mom.  The menu looks unreal!  After that, we will swing home and I will put on something obnoxiously sparkly to go to his friend's restaurant.  They do an amazing party every year, and DH DJ's for him, so I get to be a groupie and drink champagne in sparkles all night!!!!

    Don't feel bad.  Have fun.

  • H and I (and our dog) are going to the Poconos tomorrow. We do this every year. We will drop off the kids and check in. We will probably shop and go to dinner. On NYE, we will go to NYE Mass, get dressed up, go out to dinner and go to a casino that has a dance club in it. After midnight we'll gamble a little, then go back to the hotel My bday is New Year's Day, so we will head home that morning and celebrate my bday with family.

  • The past couple years, H and I have gone out on our own, usually to a club so I have an excuse to wear a sparkly dress.  This year, we got the flu for Christmas, so the only thing we'll be having shots of is NyQuil (and I sincerely doubt either of us will be awake to see 2015 roll in).

  • Originally I wanted us to host a party, but since I ended up working around the holidays, I did not want to bother.

My BFF and her BF got a hotel suite in Manhattan. So we are going to do dinner with them at 6 in Astoria Queens, and hang out in the suite for a bit after. We'll probably get a few bottles. After that, FI and I will probably ring in the new year at home with the kitties :)

  • I think DH and I are just staying in.   We didn't arrange for a sitter and we can't do much "adulty" when we have a 4 mo who needs the boobs.   (note - I'm fine with adult events but given that I'm still nursing, if I go too long without him, I'll need to hook myself up to a pump which just adds a layer of awkwardness).

I may have to work Wed morning anyway so I think we may just plan a nice dinner and then a chill time on the couch.   I may nod off and hopefully DH wakes me so we can smooch in the New Year.

The better time is hopefully the next morning when we go to brunch at a friend's place.

This was going to be our plan but just yesterday, some friends invited us to go with them to a prix fixe dinner/party thing in Princeton.  I would love to go and have fun but I really, really don't want to drive home or even be on the road in a cab.  We are debating whether to bother going out or just make some fancy food and stay in.

This is a dumb question, because I don't know Jersey very well. Is there a train that runs to Princeton?

the last time we went out i hated it. i hate going to parties i never went to many when i was younger and was never a party goer. i always get made fun of for this but thats who i am. the party i did go to i felt out of place compared to the other girls and no really conversed with me. im more of tom boy than a girly girl so i didnt get along with any of the other dudes girlfriends. im kind of hoping his friend does not have people over because i cant stand parties.

We are going to SIL & BILs house for a Murder Mystery party! This group always gets into their characters at Halloween so it should be fun! Still working on finalizing my costume in hopes of not having to purchase anything!

  • FI has to work both NYE and New Year's Day.  He's usually off and we usually get to do something, but this year we aren't.  I'm kind of glad about it, I need to recover from our hectic Christmas!

  • We might go on a mini ski trip with some friends because I get New Years Day and the day after off (and he can easily get it off)! If that doesn't pan out then we might just go out to a fancy restaurant that we just received a gift card to and chill. Either plan I'm fine with as long as there's alcohol!

It would be doable but would require taking the PATH to Newark to get on a train to Princeton - about 1-1.5 hours of travel-time. Not a huge deal - except the last train out of Princeton is at like 10PM and service won't resume until 5 in the morning.
