Loud mouth at restaurant. . . What would you do?

Re: Loud mouth at restaurant. . . What would you do?

  • It's NYE, so I would kind of expect rowdiness, even at a nice and usually quiet place.

Story about that: Our firm had its holiday party at a quiet, upscale Brazilian steakhouse (never-ending meat train, it was glorious.  But I digress).  We were in a back room reserved for large groups.  There were three long tables set up, and we were in the one to the far left.  To the far right, a group of ladies was also having their party.  They were loud, but nothing bad.  Then a group of guys also having a party was seated at the middle table.  Immediately these guys started taking shots, so the ladies' table started taking shots.  Then one guy decided to hit on one of the women.  She SLAPPED him, then took pictures with him while she was grinding on him.  He came over again, tried to grab her to kiss her, she slapped him again, and then they kissed.  They all took more shots, and he went over again, she slapped him again, and then they full-on made out.  She gave him her number.  Normally, I'd be irritated by that level of noise in a nice place, but this was lunch and a show.

With the neighbors calling about the noise, FI and I live in a complex that literally used to be a retirement home, and you can tell by most of the tenants.  I'm surprised there's not a defibrillator that comes standard with each condo.  Anyway, one Friday night we were sitting outside talking to a friend and her date, just talking, and as soon as 10pm rolled around, we got a knock at our door.  It was our security guy, and he apologized profusely and said that he got a noise complaint.  10pm on a Friday.  The thing that bugged me most was that the neighbor didn't just come over and say something.  Maybe they were ill, and needed sleep or something.  Just come tell us.  But we have some BSC neighbors.  That's for another thread though.

  • This happened when dh and I first moved in together. We lived somewhat near the stadium for our local baseball team. Well at about 11 on a Friday night they were shooting off fireworks, they do this every Friday they have a home game, and one of our neighbors comes to the door and asked us if we were annoyed by the noise and that they were thinking about calling the cops and complaining. We laughed at them. Like really you're going to call the cops about the noise from the baseball game we live two blocks away from?
  • I can understand being annoyed with an extremely loud group when you're putting out for a place that's nicer than you'd usually go.

But I agree with everyone else, it's NYE. It's a party night. Plus, think about the outcomes... If you told them to quiet down, they would laugh in your face and make jokes about being quiet until you left. If the management told them to quiet down, they'd probably be like "oh sorry ok... I'll have a dirty martini please. blue cheese olives, extra dirty. thanks" and then nothing would change.

    Hhahahahaahahaha. oh no.

As for the OP, I wouldn't care. Ten people make a lot of noise, and it was NYE.
