Yep! Glad you feel better and are moving on!

I will comment one last time on this therapist, then I will drop it. You can't really gain a true understanding of her behavior if she's not actually bipolar, which you don't know because you didn't have a doctor look at her. There are lots of things that could cause her to act that way. I could also probably pick a bipolar out of a crowd, but I would never say for sure because I am not licensed to do so, and I would certainly never ever ever ever tell anyone else.

I'm not trying to pick at you, I just want you to have someone who knows what they are doing work with you! I am so, so glad that it ended up helping you.
BPD is short for Borderline Personality Disorder.  I believe the therapist and Novella suspect her sister has that, not bipolar disorder.

I agree that it's unprofessional and unethical for the therapist to suggest to Novella a diagnosis for a person the therapist has never personally met with and treated, and I think a while back in another thread I said as much.  However, there's no HIPAA violation because the sister is not a patient and no actual medical information of hers was being shared.

According to the latest version of the DSM, personality disorders are clustered together and they share many overlapping behavioral trait with other disorders in their cluster.  So it might be beneficial for Novella to read the book as it might help her learn ways to deal with her sister, whether or not she has had an official diagnosis.  Novella just has to go into it knowing that there isn't an official diagnosis- which she is already doing.

ugh I hated tracking down all the addresses! We didn't send out STDs to every single person on our guest list, so we're now in the process of finding the last few addresses because now it's time to send out invitations (almost). It has taken WEEKS! And then all the little details, like "hm does cousin Bob have a new girlfriend? How do you spell Beth's boyfriend's name? I heard that so-and-so broke up. I had Tom's address but he just moved to a new city, what's his phone number again?" And we have 3 or 4 people on our list that are moving RIGHT around when we're sending invitations, so... which address does it go to then? bleh!

    Congrats on tackling that!
