Do you guys ever get those foot cramps, where your foot curls up and you can't stretch it out and YOU FEEL LIKE YOU'RE GOING TO DIE (okay, maybe that's a little dramatic)?

It's happening! Make it STOP! People are always telling me that it's a potassium thing, and to eat more bananas, but EW. NO. Any other suggestions?

P.S. This has only ever happened to me when I'm pregnant. Re-assure me that i'm not pregnant. Here, I'll give you some material: "Hey idiot, you have an IUD"

P.P.S In case you can't tell, I am really bored. Entertain me!

  • I get those too in the middle of the night. I've also been told it's a potassium thing.

It reaaaaaaallly sucks but usually if you just walk on it, it goes away quickly.

    Also, orange juice.

  • I get the worst cramps in my calves. It usually happens when I'm laying in bed and point my toes forward (like a dancer). I drink a ton of water, and I get a lot of potassium, but sometimes, my legs just go, "NOPE. TIME FOR PAIN."

I'm really sorry. :-/ The only thing that helps me get rid of a foot cramp is to walk on it. Putting weight on it hurts at first, but then it's worth it a couple seconds later when the damn thing goes away.

Oh, this is much better! Orange juice is certainly not my favorite thing, but it is way less offensive than bananas.

I am so not excited to walk on it, but you are probably right. I'll try it out.
  • Try to make more of a habit of stretching. Loop a towell under your foot and pull towards you, let your heels hang off a step and raise/lower your weight on your toes.

Also play trivia crack with me.

Yes! That's exactly what just happened! RUDE ASS PAIN.

  • I get them in my calves too. Sometimes in my foot, and pinky toe or big toe will point outward. It usually happens in the middle of the night.

Mine are in my calves and they happen when I work out. I usually do a downward dog and they go away. The first time I ever got a cramp I honestly thought I broke my leg.

    Me too (but my foot)!

I remember being pregnant with my son and shooting up in the middle of the night and screaming "AHHHHHHHHH! MY FOOT! MY FUCKING FOO! IT'S BROKEN! I'M DYING!", which obviously my boyfriend awake. But by the time he figured out what was happening, it was already gone, hahahaha. Whoopsie doodle.

H jumped out of bed one in the middle of the night screaming that he broke his foot. I was like "how the fuck do you break your foot sleeping?!" Plantar fasciitis.

Hey, it's totally possible. I have dislocated my shoulder in my sleep, broken my foot while leisurely walking, and had a fracture in my back caused by sneezing. I am broken.
  • I get things every so often so I know your pain! I actually went to the doctor and they ran some tests. I don't lack potassium so they said that my blood flow doesn't get as much oxygen as it should. (I'm remembering this from a year ago, so I may be somewhat off) They told me to use heating pads and to stretch out your body. Hope that helps!

  • I got those darn cramps too. Standing on it makes it go away, but good god those 10 seconds from when it starts to when it stops. Rough.

Oh! Heating pads! that's a good idea. It's mostly gone now, but there is a definite lingering pain going on.

  • I will take menstrual cramps over leg cramps any day. I don't know what it is about leg cramps, but I don't think I have ever been in that much pain ever.

I always have to bite a pillow to keep from screaming as I rub/straighten my leg. Then I cry for about ten minutes. I have a super high pain tolerance, but those damn leg cramps level me.
  • Let cramps are the worst. I hate the middle of the night ones! I actually went to my doctor about it because it was happening so frequently and she said part of the reason was that I wore flats and flip flops all the time, so I had no arch support. Once I put orthotics in my shoes they went away.

I've pulled muscles while sneezing and rolled my ankles while just walking, so I am impressed by you.

    I'm with you on that!

I woke up 4 times last night with these things! It's not fairrrrr, WAHHH!

Huh, I guess that makes sense. I wear petty exclusively heels, but all winter I've been wearing a pair of flat boots with no real support.

I have a serious talent for injuring myself doing nothing. I'm fact, I'm a medical mystery! My doctor has no ide how I so easily injure myself, as I have no apparent bone/joint etc. issues.

OHHHHHH GOD! I know exactly what you mean. I have had those a few times and tried to keep going. NOOOPPPPEEE.
  • I get those foot cramps often. I drink a lot of water and I eat bananas so I have yet to figure out the reason. When I get one, I have to start walking on the foot and stretching it. It goes away of sooner if I do that. I use to get them a lot as a child when I was swimming. I definitely know yoru pain.
  • I get cramps like that in my calves, usually in the middle of the night while I'm sleeping. So, that's fun.
  • i get pains in my foot that feel like my bones or something cracked and are traveling around (strange i know) in my foot. it hurts usually goes away after an hour.

for your pain i second what PPs have said about stretching, it will help keep tendons and muscle relaxed and from cramping up.

  • I can't believe no one has identified them as "charley-horse" yet. Is that a northern name for it??

I get them often, even sometimes when I'm just walking around Walmart and I have to stop and take my shoe off and stretch! It goes away almost instantly if you flex your foot as hard as you can- pointing toe back towards yourself.

I have never thought it was a broken foot or anything, but the first time I ever had heartburn I thought I was dying. It was like 2am and I woke my ex and his mom and told them to bring me to the hospital. Luckily his mom asked me questions and gave me pills and it went right away hahah.

Also- DH & I downloaded trivia crack last night to see what the fuss was about and we both thought it was stupid as hell and deleted it LOL. I just didn't get it.
