Re: Thank you for person who owes me $$$

  • I didn't even know what a pizza stone was and just looked it up….

How rude of your roommate to buy you a wedding gift that she was not obligated to do! How rude that she might not have been able to afford a pricier one on your registry and instead tried to get you a similar one that may have been more affordable for her! The nerve!

  • Who knew one can have too many pizza stones?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Ditto.  I only have one. I usually make more than one pizza at once. Also, I use mine for cookies as well, and you need as many as you can have for batches of cookies!
  • This totally reminds of a recent Brooklynn 9-9-9 episode where a coworker gives a X-mas gift to another coworker and, without even opening the present, she says, "Oh, I'm so sorry I can't accept this.  I am way to busy right now to do returns."

With that said, I do get the annoyance about the $100 being owed.  I had that happen to me in college after my roommate moved out...$80 for a phone bill that came after her move out...and she never bothered to pay it.  I stopped trying after a few gentle reminders, but it is stinging to know someone you considered a friend will so blatantly screw you out of money...especially a small amount.

To the bolded- Yeah this happened to me, and it really really stung and pissed me off too. You can't just not pay your bills. I felt so screwed over.

However the whole pizza stone thing I agree with everyone else about.

  • And honestly, it is a little frustrating if you spend lot's of time on a registry and receive those gifts but then have to return them in favor of a gift you don't want simply because you can't return those gifts without receipt or registry record.

One time I got a really ugly man briefcase in the mail. It was a gift from a family member. I managed to return it to Staples for store credit even though I knew full well it actually came from Amazon and I didn't have the receipt. Surely you could find out where that pizza stone came from and return it to a store that sells it for at least a store credit. Or, keep a pizza stone you wanted and donate the one that you don't like. Or even re-gift it.

Am I the only person a little creeped out by the level of entitlement the OP is displaying?

I am shocked that grown women actually throw tantrums about getting too many presents.

The OP needs a time out and then a nap. We should probably take away her pizza boards too.

  • Not paying you back sucks, but that is independent from the pizza stone crisis.

Geez, poor baby you have too many pizza stones. I still don't understand why you returned the one you liked. Obviously, it's blasphemy to have 2 pizza stones.

  • OP, had I come to your wedding I think I would have given you some cheese to go with your whine.

Whoops, forgot to reply.  You could make mini pizzas certainly!  Like the kind on English muffins. Or you could decorate cookies like pizzas.

I make cookies all the time on my pizza stone. My mom does too. It works just like any other pan.

I've also made potatoes on it.  Slice them up, drizzle with olive oil and some spices and throw them in the oven.  H does that more.  I'm leary about anything dripping off since it has no edges.
