I have been on TB for 2.5 years and I have never heard anyone use "baby dance."
At least not on the Parenting board.
Well chances are, people on the Parenting board aren't asking too many questions regarding the nuts and bolts of conception. They've already figured that part out.
I mean, the board is called Parenting....some people don't have kids (like myself). It was a dead board at one time and we took it over.
Ahaaa. Well hi! We're pretty cool here. We like cheesecake, NeNe, Oxford commas, and trunks full of guns.
I just don't get why we're calling sex for procreation and sex not for procreation different things. Do ya'll do it differently if you're trying to have a kid versus when you're just fucking to fuck? I mean aside from not using birth control of any kind. I hope the fucking is good if you're trying to make a baby or just want to feel good.
I do use knocked up a lot. I've had people get mad at me for that in the past (in other places not TB or TK), because "knocked up" has negative connotations. Yeah well fuck your negative connotations, I'm trying to knock my wife up.
I call semen "stuff" cause half the time I can't remember the right word and I just want to say jizz.
You should check out the TTC board on TH sometime. It is truly amazing what you find yourself talking about.
True dat.
Realistically it might be something like "My FW was CD12-15, and we BD on 11, 13, 14, O and O+1. When should I POAS?" That would be a long sentence without the abbreviations. It might also be "how soon do you get up and clean off after BD because I don't like the spunk all up in my junk." You're already talking about something gross... you don't need to throw science at it too.
But again, these aren't real life people using terms like this in everyday spoken conversation... so how are they any more immature of shorthand to use on a TTC board than PPD is on a wedding board? I'm sure there's a much longer, more specific term for Pretty Princess Day that we could be using.
Edited to chop down the quote tree.
I guess I draw a line between plain "immature" (which I wholeheartedly support, especially when it comes to terms like fuck, spooge, cooter, etc.) and "a product of a sexist society that doesn't like women to acknowledge or be acknowledged as full adult people" but I realize I am DEFINITELY splitting some hairs, and who knows if I'm even being consistent in my application. The reality is there are some things that make me snort with laughter and others that make me roll my eyes and worry for our daughters, and I can admit that A. my reaction might change on any given day/in any given context and B. the line between these two reactions is vastly different among people.
I don't care how people want to speak on a message board, ultimately, as long as their point is still clear and there aren't too many walls-o-text or other punctuation abominations that actually make things hard to decipher. I just wanted to share my (admittedly visceral, probably misinformed, definitely subjective) opinion on the term "bump."

I've been around before and was a more frequent poster before everyone left to go to the proboards account...not Treehouse, the other one, Thunderdome...but I got recruited to TB. I just keep changing my name. But thanks for the welcome!

(No offense TTC ladies...I'm just woefully ignorant about such things)

I had Welch's fruit snacks with my lunch today. Just like I do every day. I might even bust open a second packet!
I love those. I might have to stop to get some on my way home now.
I get the box of 22 packets at Walmart for like 4 bucks. Fruit snacks were not part of subsidized lunch, so I never had them as a kid. Needed to make up for that as an adult!

Looks like math. I'm never getting pregnant.
Since I am TTC I'll translate. "We had some sex on and around the time I should have ovulated, when should I take a pregnancy test"
At least I think that's what it means. I still call PPD pretty pretty princess day (like the pretty pretty princess game!) so I'm not good with acronyms.

Dont worry you don't have to learn the math. There is an app for that.

Just have a ton of sex like 10 days after the first day of your period. Do it every day for a week or so. That equation seemed to be pretty successful in this neck of the woods.
Well, do the math. Most people only get married once, maybe twice, but usually years apart. People who want to have kids (and are in XO's target demo) are A. more likely to have disposable income, and B. may very well get pregnant more than once, probably on a faster timeline than most people who get married more than once.
Aka they're not gonna get the return on an app investment back as quickly from us as they will from the mommies and almost-mommies.
I feel like if you are intentionally having sex to intentionally have a baby that you wish to keep as your own, you should be adult enough to use the right words for it all.
That said, I did feel like a naughty teenager buying pregnancy tests the other day. I am almost 32 and it was my first time doing it!
(the test was negative, for inquiring minds)
Well BD is a lot easier to type out than "sexual intercourse for the purposes of creating human progeny."

I think there are at least two, if not three Bump apps. TK has apps too, they are just useless and don't have access to the forums, from what I remember.
So did they just post the new TOS and start banning people immediately?
It still isn't clear to me how it all went down.
TB asked their mods for feedback on changes in the TOU. They gave it all off board on the mod board or however way ADMIN and mods talk to one another. So, BumpMay sent them a PM basically saying we are doing what we want and we understand if you no longer feel you are a fit here. Anyway, then yesterday or last night - BumpMay posts the new rules on each board and bans like half the mods. When asked she said the mods broke confidentiality so that is why there were banned. Some were IP banned and others not.
Hey TBers! I often used to lurk over there because we're going to start trying to conceive in October.
I'm in the camp of euphemisms for sex and genitalia not necessarily bothering me, but they sound silly. Does anyone else think "hooha" sounds like a type of country dance? "Grab yer partners, it's time to HOOOHHAAAA!"
Also, my boss is really into his veggetti right now. Every time he mentions it I mishear it as "vajazzle." He told me I should get a vaggetti and it took me a minute to realize what he was saying. I have to remind myself weekly that veggetti =/= vajazzle.
Re: Bump Lurkers?
Said admin is back up and running now...get your shit together TB.
Aw I see. Well, welcome to TK!
