Re: Already Wednesday?

  • @eilis1228 - I'm sorry that sucks. :(  I got a script for the needles and got the allergy medicine (three vials in all, that I kept refregerated).  I let the medicine sit out for a little while to warm up before doing the shot (or I warmed the vial up in my hands for a while) because cold allergy medicine hurts more (the Dr said this was ok to warm it up like that), filled up the vial to the right prescribed amount, found a corner of the wall to roll my arm fat up against, wiped down the area with an alcohol wipe and just gave myself the shot then recorded it so the Dr could see I kept a record.  I had never done it before but it was a lot less hassle than going to the doctors every few days. Can you ask your doctor if they would let you do that? Every time the nurse did it (vs me) it always hurt more because she didn't get it in the fattiest place in my arm for some reason.

    Happy Birthday, @Blackbird230!

    @minskat30 No, I have to go to the allergist's office and have them administered by a nurse. :( I don't know if she just butchers it, or if my arms really are that sensitive to them. I've kind of noticed a lessening of the symptoms overall, but I don't really feel like they're worth the hassle. The ENT and the allergist want me to stay on them at least until the fall. How were you able to do them yourself? Also, you're inspiring me to get back on the exercise bandwagon! I love that feeling of waking up in the morning and feeling a flat tummy and having energy. You even grow to love the sore muscles after a while too. I'm glad you're sticking to your regime and seeing results!

    @peaseblossom55 The Urban Decay eyeliner is about $19, so not too much more. It's really creamy and pigmented, and I don't notice smudging throughout the day. During the week I'm really lazy with my makeup and only wear eyeliner and mascara on my eyes, and it stays in place even without a primer.
    Oh man.... Your lazy is me putting forth effort!
    Confession: I only put on moisturizer in the mornings. Zero make-up.

  • @AlPacina I used to do eyeshadow and blush and lipstick and basically the whole 9 yards during the week, but for the past few months I've gotten lazy and have only had the energy to do eyeliner and mascara. Sometimes I don't even have the energy for that much, but if I don't wear makeup, I look like I'm 12. I get asked all the time what grade I'm in when I don't wear any makeup... it's crazy. lol.

  • @Swazzle - AAAAAHHHHH HOUSE!!!  Can't wait to see pics of the kitchen after you paint it.  I love kitchens.

    @peaseblossom55 - I'm with @Ellis1228 on the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner pencils.  I love them, and they stay put forever.  Like, through me teaching an Zumba class forever.

    @Blackbird230 - Happy Birthday!!!

    I'm doing pretty well today...got up early and made it to the office by 8:00.  I spent an hour dealing with my office--I just moved out of the cubicle farm into a new office that I share with one other person (who's never here), and the person who was in here before me left it a total disaster!  Dusty, old exams and crap everywhere...it's going to be a longish process to get it to where I want it to be, but it's at least clean now.  Then I wrote a new lecture for Friday.  I'm meeting a friend for lunch here in about an hour, and then I'm going to work on some job application stuff.  Class, hot yoga, and ballet to finish out the day.

    And hopefully Mr. H and I will FaceTime tonight to talk about our job app.  :-)  I'm going to spend some time this afternoon with the school's website, figuring out what I want to emphasize in my part of our letter.

    I love the beginning of the semester...I actually feel like I'm on top of things!
  • @futuremrshistorian - you need to make it into the city sometime!!
  • @peaseblossom55 I third the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on eyeliner pencils.  Also, Cargo Swimmables Eye Pencil are amazing too.

    eilis1228 I am the same way, even when I do wear makeup I get asked my age.  Being short and having a baby face is both a curse and a blessing.

    @futuremrshistorian I can't believe how bad they left that office.  Were the exams graded?

  • @eilis1228 @futuremrshistorian thanks for the reccomendation.  I love that is doesn't smudge either, I hate when eyeliners leave smudges after time.  I'll have to look at that today!

    Anniversary

  • @speakeasy14 Exactly! I think we'll view it as more of a blessing in about 10 years lol.

    @minskat30 Hmmm the allergist never mentioned me doing them myself as an option. I'll definitely ask next month.

  • @swazzle- YAY! I bet you cannot wait for the weekend! Great news :)

    @blackbird230- Happy Birthday!

    @goldenpenguin- I'll be using a mix of round tables and long tables for my wedding. I really like the idea of long tables, because they tend to fit more people than standard round tables.

    So far my day has been very hectic. I actually forced myself to take my prep and relax....on TK lol. I had 2 meetings this morning about the same student that has crazy behaviors all day. He cannot function at the middle school level- moving from class to class, teacher to teacher is very difficult for him. So my whole day has been dedicated to this one student- even though I have 23 other students to help. We just found out today that this student is moving in 2 weeks and I have to make sure that the new school will have the correct supports in place so this student doesn't become even crazier there! So much work to do, too many opinions and so little time. I'm trying to tell myself to calm down, but it's hard when I care so much!

     They get a doctor's fee for every visit so they probably don't advertise it if they allow you to self administer.  I complained about the co-pay so that is how I found out....my shots were every three days or so for a while so that really would add up at $25 a pop.  ;)

    Ah, that makes sense. Gotta love for-profit medical care. When I first started them I had to go in once a week, but now I'm able to wait 4-6 weeks before I need more shots. I can't believe they were charging you a full co-pay when you went in. They don't charge me a co-pay, but I'm charged about $15 per visit towards my deductible. When they order new serum, it's $1000 towards my deductible, so I totally empathize with you on the outrageous expense. The cost outweighs the benefit for sure.

  • @GoldenPenguin - I also vote for a mix of long rectangles and tall round tables. I think it would make it more obvious that people are encouraged to mingle through the reception, instead of just grabbing a seat for the evening.

    @eilis122 - Thanks! I'm not overly concerned about it right now, I've got enough on my plate without trying to find a new job, but it's something that's sticking in my mind and I just feel like it's time for a change. I shouldn't complain too much, I have a reasonably secure job at the moment and they pay me enough to live on, but I also don't want to be in a dead-end job at 28. Not sticking around for that!

    @Blackbird230 - Happy birthday! I hope you have a lovely day!

    @minskat30 - I think I want front loading, but I don't care what brand. I've always had a top loading washer and I'm on the shorter side and I sometimes feel like I'm going to fall into the washer when I'm trying to get stuff out!

    Vent: Macy's at Walden Galeria is driving me fucking insane. FMIL bought our place settings and soup bowls when we were in Florida in February (major discount), and arranged to have them shipped to the store in Buffalo so that we can pick them up, since they can't ship china to Canada.
    They were supposed to contact either FMIL or me when the shipments arrived in Buffalo. I got confirmation emails that they shipped early in December, and then promptly forgot about them because it was Christmas and I was crazy busy and they were going to call one of us when the packages arrived. Christmas rolled around and FMIL asked if I'd heard from them and we figured I should call to see what was up. I called the store the week between Christmas and New Years, and after being put through to 6 different people and disconnected and calling back I was eventually told that the china had been there for THREE WEEKS and no one had gotten in touch with us!!! Apparently that was all this girl could tell me, since she didn't work in receiving, and couldn't give me details about how to pick them up but could tell me that there apparently was no contact information on the shipment. So our boxes of china had been there for 3 damn weeks and no one had called us or called the store in Florida to figure out how to contact us, and I needed to wait for someone else to call me back to answer my questions about pick up. And now I've spent 2 weeks playing phone tag with this person who is apparently the only person in the entire store who can answer my questions. She never seems to be there when I call, and only calls back during weird hours and I've missed all of her calls. They are driving me insane and I just want to know what I need to bring with me when I go to pick up my dishes! /endrant

  • @TwoDimes Too bad we aren't currently planning to drive to South Dakota next fall otherwise I'd seriously consider making Iowa a stopping point! Cinders loves breaks where she gets to stop and play with other puppies.

  • @CocoBellaF - I do!  We need to have an OKC-area Knottie G2G.  For the 2 of us.  :-)

    @speakeasy14 - Yep...graded exams, graded papers, etc.  We have to keep that stuff for a year, but if we leave we're supposed to take it to our departmental office and they'll keep it on file.  So I took it right down there and gave it to our wonderful secretary.  There are also 2 coffee pots in here that are growing mold.  So I'll be getting rid of those next.

    Well at least the exams were graded.  But ew to the moldy coffee pots.

  • @swazzle I really hope that it works out this time tomorrow!!!!! I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

    @Blackbird23 Happy Birthday!

    @allusive007 yay for baby!

    @GoldenPenguin I like the idea of rectangle and round tables together too.

    Nothing too interesting going on here. I worked with China again until 9 pm last night, and will have to do the same tonight, but have a lot of down time between meetings currently. I emailed the florist that I hope to use today, and am waiting on a response to that. I am trying to get as many large wedding things out of the way as I can before March/April, because I know I will be extremely busy with a new project at work and will be busy through December most likely, so I want to get everything out of the way now, even though it's a bit early.

    Oh, and the girl who I dropped out as a bridesmaid for basically sent an email to all of her bridesmaids (and included me) saying sorry for being a bridezilla and that she was trying to figure out the hair and makeup situation to see what she could pay for, but then goes on to say that everyone should come to her house in March to stuff envelopes for the bridal shower. Eff that; I wouldn't go even if I was in NY. I also have yet to receive a personal apology from her, so I am treating it as if I never received that email. I don't plan to rejoin the bridal party even if she does apologize, but I will consider remaining friends with her at least.

  • @Swazzle - New icon picture = So Much Win.

  • @AlPacina - Thanks! I'm going to keep it for a bit. My other one's been up since I joined way back yonder. @GoldenPenguin made this one for me!

  • @Swazzle, Hope everything goes well with the house!

    Happy birthday, @blackbird230!

    I'm with @AlPacina and @LaPeanut1018 on the makeup. I wanna get better about wearing it but in the morning I usually focus on other things (like sleeping longer).

    I'm happy it's Wednesday, it's pretty much my Friday. (I only have class Monday and Wednesday). This was the first week of the semester for me and I think I'm actually looking forward to my classes (plus I'm graduating in May so that helps).
