I really want the Seahawks to win! I am a Russel Wilson fan because he went to NC State and it's pretty cool he's so huge in the NFL  now. I remember watching him blow games at NC State on the regular. I also think it would be cool for them to win two years in a row.

I don't hate the Patriots. I like Tom Brady (I actually like his wife  more). I just like the Seahawks more.

And Marshawn Lynch is pretty awesome. "I'm just here so I don't get fined."
Did you read they're STILL going to try to fine him because he wasn't wearing a NFL approved tshirt?? What a bunch of bullshit.
Yes! It was his hat. It had his beast mode logo thingy on it and they are trying to determining if it is permissible. It is bullshit and they just want to fine him.
Didn't a player this past season get fined for wearing a certain brand of headsets? That brand apparently wasn't the brand the NFL supported so they fined him, or something like that.
Yup, it was Colin Kapernick. He was wearing Beats by Dre headphones and got fined $10,000 I believe. He was supposed to be wearing only Bose headphones (if I remember correctly).

    I think you're right.

I mean that is beyond over reach. First, they are required to do media appearances and now they have to wear specific clothing and accessories.

  • I want the Pats to lose.  I also want one of the Seahawks to break Tom Brady's nose and maybe throw a fully inflated football at Belichick's face.

    haters gonna hate

Also if you think the deflated footballs are a thing at all, youre not an actual football fan. the only people up in arms about this are 1) people who will hate the pats no matter what, 2) people who are just casual fans and don't understand how testing the footballs work (and how every qb has a preference), and 3) the media. And even the media is finally looking at the facts and figuring out that the NFL handled this shady as fuck.

I dont understand the Tom Brady hate at all. I love the pats but I would never wish for rogers, peyton, luck, or any of our rivals to get hurt. Like wishing broken bones on him? I honestly don't understand whats so hateable about him- especially in a league that's filled with domestic abusers, drunk drivers, etc.

I think you took my post way too seriously.

The inflated football part was tongue in cheek.  This whole deflate gate is ridiculous but the fact that the Pats have cheated in the past and continue to think they are above the rules is an issue.

And seriously, it is his nose. I am certainly not wishing that he die.  But he needs to be roughed up and maybe brought down a few notches.  All Brady does is bitch and complain and moan when anyone even remotely comes close to him.  He plays football so stop your bitching and take a hit without sounding like a nancy ass all the time.

Yeah, I guess I just don't get it. I don't really know what you mean by brought down a few notches. Like be more humble? He is one of the best QBs I don't think he really needs to be humble. Do you mean complain like in the media or on the field? I don't think he complains that much but I admit I'm biased.  I guess it would be annoying- it'd be like if the team lost and he went to the media complaining the other team was too smart and took advantage of knowing the rule book better  ;)

I think that you can be a great player and still not act like you are some sort of God. There is a balance to knowing you are amazing and still being humble about the amazing position that you are in. He, unfortunately, has not found that balance. And yes, he complains a shit ton on the field. He is constantly calling for flags because OMG his pinky finger got touched or some other bullshit.

And the bolded is what I am talking about in regards to his douche baggery.  I don't even like it when my team players talk like that.  I understand it is all part of the game, but talk shit prior to it if you must (makes the actual game more exciting), but don't act like a pompous ass after you have won.  I mean, why is it really all that surprising that so many people don't like him?

ETA:  And hating on certain players is all part of football.  There is a lot of hate for former player Ray Lewis or current player Terrell Suggs, but I am not questioning why people hate on them.  I can see it from an outsiders perspective as to why they may not be well liked.  I am certainly not wondering "why all the hate?"  It is expected.

I think he is very humble actually. The majority of hs interiews he's giving props to his coaches and his teammates. He's never sitting there saying he's the best and that he's definitely going to win. I think he's a real long way from being the "kanye" of football.

Plus like Fran said, with so many player involved with drugs and domestic violence and all that, Tom is by far the tamest. He's not partying and buying yachts and beating his wife, he's a good role model.

I agree that he's getting a little whiney about hits, but he's getting old. He can't take a hit like when he was 24 anymore. And the knee blowout that happened a few years ago still probably has him a little rattled. Yes he knows that he plays a sport for a living that could cause injuries but it's not like he's a professional bullrider- if the rules ae followed and enforced (which he's trying to do) then injury should be pretty minimal.

Oh sorry I thought I remembered you were a Ravens fan- I was making a reference to what the Ravens did after they lost. Brady has never done that.

I don't find him pompous at all- he works incredibly hard, was number 199 in the draft and remembers it, always talks about how grateful he is to be where he is and be playing football, redoes his own contracts to make the team better, does a ton for charity in boston and other places, and I really don't know what you are referencing when you say he acts pompous after wins- he almost always talks respectfully about his opponents. So yeah, honestly it is surprising to me that some people hate him. But obviously every one comes to it with their own bias.

Then retire.  Because if you play football you better expect to take a hit and not bitch about it. I am all for calling illegal hits, but come on, he complains even when the hits are legal or he barely gets touched.

  • I love football, but after all the shenanigans that went down during the playoffs I just can't get excited about this. A bunch of friends pestered us about whether we were hosting a party and that just pissed me off... we hosted ALL THE PARTIES last year, plus a wedding; it's someone else's damn turn. Of course none of them will host anything, so I think we're just gonna stay home and order a pizza.
Oh, Lolo. You've discovered the dark side of your being such an excellent cook and hostess. People are all excited to come back, so you can do more work.
Yup. It's the pits. I'm broke, fools! You ate all my money!

Both of them are amazing football players.  But both can be douche bags and talk smack like no one else.  As a Ravens fan I am not afraid to admit that we have assholes on our team.  I like Lewis and Suggs as football players.  Now as individuals outside of football, I am certainly not celebrating or up holidng their personal choices.

ETA:  And we aren't the only team that has thugs.  Aaron Hernandez, Ben Roethlisberger, Michael Vick, Adrian Peterson, etc, are all just examples of asshole, thugs who also happen to be amazing football players.

I responded before your edit but yeah I can see why someone like KG (when he was on the celtics) wouldn't be well liked- huge trash talker and aggressive. I honestly don't get the Brady hate, and even though I don't like Lewis or Suggs I don't wish them broken bones or anything. People go nuts with their hate for the Patriots- they have pulled the fire alarms in the middle of the night at their hotel for three nights in a row- making them get out of bed and evacuate in the middle of the night. The hate for him is just so over the top.

I totally thought that was blood on his hand and was like "Woah...is this football or hockey?"
haha no, it's paint from the field. Like Tom Brady would get dirty like that...

I will say though, he appears to be the most social awkward "Pretty Boy" (stereotyping) that I've ever viewed on TV. He gets a little mouthy with the game, but overall, seems like a decent dude. I'm just pretty sure that Belichick sold all of his sweatshirt sleeves to the Devil for Super Bowl rings. Which puts Brady in cahoots.

ETA: I haven't met Tom Brady. EDIT.

You can actually bet on whether or not Belichick will wear a grey or blue hoodie at Super Bowel and if that hoodie will have sleeves.

My bet is on a grey hoodie, no sleeves.

  • @maggie0829 alright I hear ya. I still think there are worse people to hate on the field. For the record I love Ray Lewis and was definitely rooting for him to win that last superbowl he played in even though he beat us to get there.

Not bent out of shape- it just certainly sounds like you hate him as a person, not a football player. The only reason we are mentioning his charity work is because you mentioned that he thinks he is God. And no one saying there isn't bad guys on every team, we are just saying, honestly, this guy isn't the one. I've never talked shit about Joe Flacco, I think the on-ZZZZzzzzz ZZZZzzzzz

    :)

Also I'd almost rather the Pats be woken up than the Seahawks. You know if this was happening to the seahawks we'd have to deal with a million headlines like "Brady conspires to steal all Seahawks sleep/dreams" "Is Wilfork a Ninja? Sources allege he has broken into the rival hotel 3/4 nights the alarm was pulled" "Anonymous source says Belichick has the power to pull firm alarms with his mind"

People hate Suggs and Lewis because they are pathetic human beings that are now rich and think they can do whatever they want and are above the law. People hate Brady because... he's really good at football? or earlier you said you feel like he whines too much..

And I do agree the league is FULL of thugs NO ONE will argue that! Now let's give these Thugs MILLIONS of dollars! Aaron Hernandez was a Patriot.. and as soon as he was indicted we dropped him because the Patriots aren't ok with people like that on our team.

So again... how can you compare the hate of these players to each other? The hate is so different! One type of hate doesn't have to do with football but with the type of person they are, and the other type of hate has to do with football... not because they are bad... but because they are too good..?

Of course we will never agree on this! The best thing about sports is the passion for your home team!

Yeah, God on the football field, not God in everyday life.  All I know of Tom Brady is what he does on the field.  I have no clue what he does at home or during the off season and honestly, I don't really care to because I am just not interested in that.

And I just used Flacco as an example.  Trash talking and hating on players is just something that happens and to be surprised by it is kind of surprising to me, that's all.

And let me just say, Flacco has been in some local commercials down here and I cringe every time I see them.  Flacco just needs to stick with football because he does have kind of a snooze worthy personality.

I generally just pick whoever I think is the underdog (based on my limited football knowledge) and root for them. Honestly, I don't see either team as underdogs, so I don't know who to root for.

And their uniforms are similar enough that I can't pick based on who has the better outfit either.

Would've been awesome if the Cardinals had made it.
As soon as Carson Palmer went out, I was pretty sure we were done. But before that, I really thought we had a chance to play a home-game Super Bowl.

So you'll clearly have to go with who has the hotter wife. We win.

That is a very good point. Tom Brady by far has the hotter wife.

I'm just going to sit on my couch on Sunday and get fat on snacks while everyone else fights over who they want to win.

  • and she's no Yoko Ono because she makes more than him :)
