Happy Valentine's Day

It's time to start my celebration while DH is at work cooking for all the other couples.  To be fair only a few of his reservations are couples.  Most a large parties.

Re: Happy Valentine's Day

  • Just waiting in line at the grocery store with cheese. Looking forward to a night in with DH.
  • Me! I'm doing some prep work for a convention at the end of the month and watching "Star Trek: The Next Generation" reruns before making dinner.

Cheese sounds like an excellent Valentine's Day plan.

I'm in the office eating Turkish food right now.  The food is delicious but I wish I were at home with Fi.  I'm trying to get some stuff done so I don't have to come in later this weekend/ on Monday.  This is probably wishful thinking.

But we ate Mexican brunch together this morning.  And I got a mani/ pedi.  So it's not a totally wasted Saturday.

  • @JCBride2015 Your FI could have totally come here today and done manual labor with DH! Or helped him figure out camping gear (he currently has none). Very many Valentine's Day activities. heh

I'm about to make up some pork chops but I really have no motivation for it. I just want to sit on the couch, drink rum, and make silly faces at DH.

  • FI and I will be having valentine's together tonight, first time in 4 years!

Fi gets really excited about camping so he totally would love to help your DH shop. EMS is his happy place.

  • We just finished dinner. A giant NY strip, two pounds of crab legs, asparagus, and chocolate strawberries. About to snuggle up on the couch and watch The Hobbit.

  • H is away for work, so we spent the day playing WoW together, and now I'm watching psycho jilted lover movies on Lifetime and eating the box of chocolates he sent.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

He's actually planning on camping near you guys, too. There's going to be a big event at LSP. DH hasn't been camping since before we started dating so he owns nothing and has no idea what the appropriate gear would be, especially for potentially chilly weather. I'll have to put them in touch!

Texting you now because I have no idea what this big event is but Fi will want to know.

  • We just got back from Qdoba for buy 1 get 1 free burritos. Now FI is all excited some Nascar race is on, ugh
  • FI is home! ...watching a CC Roast on YouTube. But I'm just excited he's home! If he stays in his current industry it probably won't happen ever again.

I am currently being forcibly cuddled by a creature that doesn't understand no - a cat. No complaints though, she's snuggly and warm.

  • FI was at work today so he had everything set up for our Valentine's day last night when I got home from work. We have a take out picnic in our living room and watch TV or movies every year while drinking wine. This year we have been re-watching Star Trek Voyager, so that's what we watched .

I made cinnamon rolls from scratch for his gift, when he comes home from work.  Then we'll cuddle and maybe I'll get lucky tonight.   =D

I've been nursing a glass of wine for over an hour now.    Just not into it tonight.

DH did take me out for lunch.   It was sunny, in the high 50's so we sat outside on a picnic table, eating burgers while drinking milk shakes and saw a bee buzzing around.

I live in the mountains of Colorado. It's Feb 14th.    Am I the only one who thinks my lunch enviroment  was a little odd?

  • We're back and I'm fucking exhausted.  I was at a cheer competition for my kids today at 7:30am.  Fuck.  However, they nailed their routine and are Zone Champions, which was their goal for this season so I'm a super proud coach.  I'm so impressed with how this team has worked so hard this year for this.

DH took me to the symphony and dinner.  It was a fixed menu, which I'm normally not a fan of as there are some things I don't eat.  Like seafood, which comprised the entire appetizer.  But I did try at least 1 bit of everything.  Still don't like seafood, but this was at an amazing restaurant we love that made sen stuff I can't stand taste ok.  I still don't like it, but I could make it through a bite.  We don't usually celebrate V-Day, so it was a nice surprise from him.  Bed soon though I think, if we can make it to 9pm

Congrats.  My niece is in cheer.   They won too. They are heading to Disney in May.  I was invited to come, but spending a whole weekend at Disney with a bunch of screaming, peppy teens didn't sound like something I would like.  So I declined.

  • I'm watching Dance Moms while our crab legs steam, then we'll have the crab legs as an appetizer, then NY strip with baked potatoes and asparagus, and chocolate-dipped strawberries for dessert.  And also, my favorite part:  ALL THE CHAMPAGNE!  We'll probably watch Harry Potter after dinner (we play a drinking game while watching them) then engage in rumpus...Is that TMI? Sorry, I'm two glasses of wine deep.

Not gonna lie, I'm a little (ok, a lot) jealous right now. We're expecting air temperatures right around 0... before you factor in the 60mph wind gusts. They're saying areas near here are going to feel like -35. I might die. Please send tequila.

  • @lyndausvi - Thanks.  And I don't blame you.  I still cheer and I hate watching competitions.  When the kids broke out the "We've got spirit" cheer I was ready to shoot myself.

Ditto what Cookie said.  We had -17 windchill today and possible tomorrow.  I'm not going anywhere if I can help it.

  • Welp, I don't think this is a Valentine's I'm going to forget.
Went to a funeral.  Then on the way home in a snow storm I got my car stuck in a ditch trying to avoid being clipped by a snowplow!  Had to wait a few hours before anyone could get out to tow me.  I was a popsicle by the time I got home!

Haha.  Funny you use that particular word - when I called roadside assistance the lady was all like "Hello!  How's your day going so far?"  And I couldn't help myself and said "Pretty shitty."  She was a little stunned.

  • A sick relative of SO's past early on Valentine's Day morning, unfortunately, so we got a phone call about that and he was understandably upset.  We continued with our plans, though, of drinking and watching some movies on Netflix in bed.  We ordered pizza for dinner.  SO got me flowers and I got him a new game for the Xbox that he wanted; ugh I felt bad being so non-romantic but I couldn't think what to get him that would be affordable.  All in all it was a decent day, I guess.

I hate when roadside assistance asks that. It's like, I'm calling you, obviously my day sucks now. I'm sorry for your loss @doeydo‌ DH got home late from work so we couldn't go to the Thai restaurant and ended up getting burgers instead. He brought home chocolates (yay!) and flowers. The flowers are pretty but I have to hide them in the bathroom because one of the cats wants to eat them.
