So maybe my wedding dress isn't really white then? The girls are in blue, guys in black, and supposedly I'm in white but after all this nonsense maybe my dress will fit right in with the blue and black of the WP!

OMG shut up. I never even thought of this. Does this mean I'm wearing blue at my wedding, while my BMs are wearing white?! OMG so much confusion
I only see white and gold. H sees blue and black. It is driving me crazy.
I saw on the new this morning that they found the actual dress and it is blue and black. My only hope is that the one pictured is a Chinese knockoff is white and gold so I'm not going completely crazy.
Omg DH & I have been arguing about this all night/day. I have seen the scientific analysis and the sales photo from the store website, and I still will NEVER see black. EVER. Team gold & white til I die.
Do you guys watch the show Brain Games? I love it. They had one on color a few weeks ago and it was fascinating. Apparently light absorbs the colors that are present in the item and reflects colors that are not present. So technically when we see green grass- the grass in real life is every color except green because green is being reflected not absorbed. That is frigen crazy to me.
I have no input on the color of the dress, but I lol'd at the opening of the wired.com article: Not since Monica Lewinsky was a White House intern has one blue dress been the source of so much consternation.

Now I can't trust anything that I've ever thought to be true.
Although I see the dress in black and blue so I know my eyes work right!
I am with @emmaaa. I think/hope it is a Chinese knockoff. The dress also comes in ivory and black as well as red and black from the real place.
No matter what I do, the gold does not look like anything other than gold. The white has a bluish tint to it, but it only ever looks dark enough that I still attribute it to the lighting.

I cannot see anything but cornflower/periwinkle blue and brown. Every picture, no matter how I twist, turn, squint, scroll... it stays blue and brown. FI saw blue & black last night, went into the other room, and came running back in - "What color is this?" "Blue & brown." "NO. IT'S WHITE & GOLD." "I still see blue & brown." "It's a different picture." "No, it's the same picture."
What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests. Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
@lolo883 Yes, I know the dress is blue and black. I was pointing out the sales page for the dress shows that it also comes in the other colors as well. I have seen pictures of the blue and black dress that look blue and black. I just don't see blue and black in that particular picture at all no matter what I do.

Yeah I just mean that regardless the other colors it might be available in, the actual person who took the photo, took it of a blue dress.
It was a MOG who took the picture and sent it to the bride and groom, and the bride freaked out thinking she was wearing white to her wedding. The mom and groom were like "um it's blue, crazypants."
GUYS I JUST SAW IT CHANGE AND NOW I CANNOT MAKE IT DO IT AGAIN. For a split second it was blue and black and I didn't feel crazy and NOW IT'S WHITE AGAIN UHHHUHHHHHUUUHHHHH.
This is for real going to absolutely drive me insane. I've seen it in all different kinds of lights with all different kinds of backgrounds and I've blocked out the sides and ALLL THE TRICKS and it is still NOT THE RIGHT COLOR.
I hate sensory perception. I hated it when I took the class, and I hate it now. >:(
I saw blue & black last night, no question. So did FI. Now I've seen more pictures this morning, and every single one of them has been white & gold, EXCEPT the one @flutteringinfl just posted of the MOG wearing it -- that was blue & black again.
I'm going to look again this evening and see if I can see it as blue & black again. I love shit like this.
I can see both colours depending on how I tell myself the white balance is, but when I initially looked at it I saw light blue and brown, which made me more for the white-and-gold team as it could be white with a blue cast. But I can see it both ways if I tell my brain to.
My brother sent out a group text to my immediate family and H last night asking "What colors are this dress?" I thought he was having an argument with his GF that "antique gold is not a color" or something. Everyone responded with some variation of white and gold and then my sister comes in with "Blue and black." My brother then says that he sees it as blue and black. I thought that those two crazy kids must just be in on some internet joke that the rest of us weren't... apparently not.
I think the most likely explanation I've heard is that people's brains have to make the decision to view it as a very brightly lighted or very shadowed dress. I have yet to make my brain turn to blue/black, even though I know it's correct.

I remember awhile back I was watching a documentary on color that was absolutely fascinating. It was about how language and our culture may actually affect the colors we can see.
HERE is the video in case you are interested in watching it. It's just the shorter clip though. I can't find the whole thing any more.

Me too! For about two minutes, I saw the blue and black clearly and without question, and spent way too much time trying to see it again.
The internet and insomnia are a great combination. How else would I fill the hours between 3 and 5?
Another website had a gif that switched every few seconds between white and gold and blue and black. I was scrolling down slowly, saw the white and gold, and THEN IT SWITCHED - I SAW BLUE AND BLACK. I quickly scrolled down and looked at it and it went back to white and gold! I was like WHAT IS THIS SORCERY?
And then it kept switching. Damn internet playing tricks on me.

I thought I finally saw it legit.
