Where Are You Planning/Thinking To Go For Your Honeymoon?

Re: Where Are You Planning/Thinking To Go For Your Honeymoon?

  • Ps. we are leaning towards Ocean Blue and Sand- looks really nice and great price!  Food is probably only a 6 out of 10- but that's what you get with the more middle end all inclusives.  This is the video that convinced us- we wanted a place that is more fun vs. only romantic:

  • We booked a week in Honolulu!  So excited (but not so much about the flight)

  • Thats why we ruled out HI :(  We're east coasters- and it would be a longggggg flight! Altho I bet worth it!
  • I'm an East Coaster too!

There will be Xanax involved in that flight.

  • We decided on Playa del Carmen in Cancun, we'll be there mid September so hopefully we won't get slammed with bad weather....

  • We aren't big beach people, so a hot destination is out. I'm a ginger and he's really fair skin and the thought of hot sun all the time is just not pleasant.

I have a lot of airmiles, and FI has a lot of hotel points from being a pilot, so we are thinking Paris!!! we would get one round trip flight for free as well as the hotel stay so we would only have to pay taxes and one flight + food and excursions. Which is super exciting because otherwise we wouldnt be able to afford it since we are saving for a house.

  • We are thinking of Teton Village, WY and Yellowstone for 2 weeks. Probably drive it from Illinois...nice little road trip. My FH lived in Florida for a few years and I am not too fond of scorching, hot weather...hence why we are getting married end of September so I do not think that it will be a beach trip. My FH has been as far west as Minnesota so he is in for a real big treat! We are the off road, hiking type anyways so bag backing it through the Grand Teton Mountain range will be spectacular...not too mention we will be saving a ton of cash by staying within the states. End of September beginning of October should be perfect to catch the Fall color leaves. Is it September yet!!??

  • With FI being in the middle of soccer season and me having the end of tax season we have to put the HM off until Jan. We have been looking at New Zealand. Can't believe that he even suggested it because he hate to fly from CA to FLA

We just booked our honeymoon to Japan last week! I am super excited! This will be a new experience for the both of us as we have never traveled so far before.
  • @DaniBites-as an East Coaster, I can tell you the flight to HI is looong, but SO worth it! I went 5 yrs ago and it was the most beautiful place I have ever seen or imagined seeing!
  • Thank you!  I really can't wait :)

  • 7 days 6 nights at Sandals Grande Riviera and I cannot wait!!
  • Probably nothing right after the wedding.  We just bought a house and between that and the wedding, we will be flat broke LOL!  We had originally talked about taking a road trip with our camper to Yellowstone (we live north of Denver), so we might plan that for next spring or summer.

  • 7 day cruise to Cozumel, Belize, and Roatan Honduras!
  • We were hoping to go on a trip hunting alligators and boars in the southern states but one of FI's friends is having a destination wedding in Mexico in November 2015 so we're going to go to that instead of on a honeymoon :)

Hunting alligators and boars?! **faint**  If you weren't kidding, you two are a very adventurous couple. :-)

  • @Island07b2b Haha nope we're not kidding!!  We're a very outdoorsy couple and spend almost every weekend out hunting or fishing.  FI is a farmboy and I was raised a city girl but since moving out to the sticks with him I've been loving the lifestyle, I'm hoping to get my first bear this spring!  We're thinking of saving the alligator trip for a big anniversary or maybe take our future kidlets.

That's awesome!  The two of you are following your passions and I think that is great.  :-)

  • We are planning on Kauai and Oahu Hawaii! We already have so many brochures, watched videos, I'm pinning on Pinterest so many ideas! We are going with Kauai because of it's seclusion and privacy and then over to Oahu where there are more "touristy" things to do! We are hoping for about 2 weeks over there

  • Hey there,

We are going to Las Vegas for our HM leaving two days after our wedding and staying for 8 days.. we will road trip both within Nevada and surrounding areas including LA while we are out there. The drive is only about 4 hours WOOHOO :-)

We are not big gamblers but went to Vegas once for 4 days loved it there and felt there was a ton left to see/do.

    Good Luck!
  • We are going to stay at the Valentin Imperial Maya in the Riviera Maya region of Mexico. We have never done an all-inclusive before so we are very excited!!! I found that having a travel agent was very helpful, it took us about a month to zero in on Mexico, then a region, and then a resort. If you haven't talk to a TA, I highly suggest it!!!!
  • We are getting married Sept. 5th, so we are going to brave it and head to Jamaica (Sandals of course).  Our passports are in the mail, so I am super excited!  We have both saved our vacations so we can take a full 7 days.
  • We probably aren't doing one after the wedding..we will probably just splurge on a really nice hotel for the wedding night.  We'd rather spend the time after the wedding with our guests that are still here.  Plus, I can't get a lot of vacation time right now, I just started a new job Dec 1, with my vacation not starting to accrue until March 1, and already have a week vacation planned in June.  But, our plan, when we do do something, is to take our camper and go up to Yellowstone.  I've never been and FI hasn't been since he was a kid (despite being from SW Wyoming).  His folks have a cabin about an hour outside of Jackson, so we can stay there too.

  • We booked our honeymoon last weekend! We're leaving the Monday after the wedding. It works way better for us to do the honeymoon immediately following the wedding because we live far far north where we would either have to drive to a large center or pay a ridiculous amount to fly to a large center to go on any trip.

Since we are getting married in our home town of Edmonton, we will save ourselves an extra drive at a later date by going immediately after the wedding instead of going home.

We're doing a week in Paris! I'm pretty excited.

  • We finally decided on ours. We had some unexpected household expenses come up that eat into our honeymoon budget so going someplace warm isn't really an option this year. Instead we decided on 3 days in a gorgeous hotel in Quebec City the weekend after the wedding. It will be beautiful in the fall and the rooms overlook the water so we'll be able to watch cruise ships coming in, plus dinner is included in the restaurant next door that's a refurbished maritime warehouse. I'm so excited!!!

All of your guys' honeymoons sound amazing.

We've decided that we'd like to try to save some money after all of the wedding expenses. So we are just going to take a week road trip out to the Canmore/Banff/Lake Louise, AB area. It's only about a 14 hour drive for us, so it won't be too bad.
We more then likely will stay in Canmore as it's a lot cheaper, then make some day trips out to Banff/Lake Louise to do sight-seeing and outdoor activities like the mountain gondola, hot springs, canoeing, and possibly a helicopter ride over the Rockies.

  • We are still up the air about taking one right away or waiting a few months. It will depend on how much we spend on the wedding. We would be paying for a HM on our own. We are not thinking anything too extravagant..the next place on our list of places we want to go is Austin, TX, so we might go there for maybe 3-4 nights.

Due to some bills and other adult responsible things that have come up we decided we cannot afford to fly anywhere or spend as much as we originally intended to. We live in WI so we decided to split the week after up and drive to two major vacation/touristy areas in our state. Will only be about half the cost. I am still excited though...FI and I have never really done like a "road trip" like this before!

  • We settled on Florida - two days in Orlando and eight days in Key West. I've booked both hotels and I am dreaming of sitting at the pool bar already. :)
  • We've booked! 1 week in Paris, immediately following the wedding.

We've got some private tours booked and some romantic dinners. I'm really looking forward to it!

  • We are going to Maui for 8 nights.  We have decided that we wanted to go to a place we have both been but not together.  This way if we can sight see if we want or can just hang out at the pool and enjoy relaxing and being pampered.  We actually have the HM scheduled for 1 1/2 weeks after the wedding.  We opted to register for the honeyfund so we could really go all out on our HM.  Wedding is 71 days away.  Its getting very exciting.
