Monday

Good morning, ladies! I'm back and I missed you all :)

I am SO TIRED. I had a long weekend away for my friend's birthday and did not get nearly enough sleep. I was also insanely hungover yesterday which doesn't help and for some reason I kept waking up all night last night. I need to get my butt to bed early tonight!

I just read some of the threads that I missed and noticed an appearance by the one and only, FartBubbler, and I seriously LOVED reading the 'Never Have I Ever' thread. So fun and I'm sad I missed it!

  • Good morning, you!

My boss is out all week, which is nice, but I just cannot find the energy or motivation to get started. I'm just looking forward to work being done so I can make it to the gym for the first time in a while, and then I can't wait to get home and make some butternut squash pizza and continue to uppack/put away/set up/play with all of our new gadgets!

  • Good morning!

M, the guy I'm seeing, and I got together Friday night and had the best barbecue in the world, and then he came over last night to watch The Walking Dead and hang out before he goes on vacation this week. I'll miss him a little, but maybe I'll finally get some things done! My friend also came over yesterday, so we made a healthy lunch and not so healthy dessert, and she was soooo amazing and helped me pack. So now all my kitchen, bathroom, and cleaning stuff is ready and I just need to tackle clothes and books.

@swazzle, @peaseblossom55, any strong feelings about the season finale of TWD?
  • @swazzle It looked like you had an awesome weekend!

@Hummingbird125 Have fun playing with everything!!

This weekend we went to a wedding south of ATL. DH was the best man in the wedding so we went down Friday afternoon for the rehearsal. It was super cold and windy and the ceremony was outside but luckily the ceremony was short and sweet so we didn't have to stay out there too long. It was still very beautiful.

Their wedding planner was a friend of the family and this was her first wedding so she was a bit overwhelmed and scatter brained but she was receiving lots of help from the wedding party so by the time the reception got going, she was able to relax and have lots to drink...probably too much to drink lol.

The food was fantastic and so was the cake. I wasn't drinking but the bar closed at 9:00 which surprised me so DH and his friends seriously ran to the bar and piled up on like 5 beers each so they could drink for the rest of the time which was until 11:00. They got pretty hammered. DH gave an AWESOME speech! I was so proud of him! We danced and had a great time.
  • @Hummingbird125 - I had a butternut squash pizza with fried sage and bacon on it the other day... it was delicious!!
  • I am exhausted today, and just ready for bed but today s going to be a really long day for me.  I just want to get to bed again.  I was up late watching the season finale of The Walking Dead & then we watched The Talking dead too.

Friday night I did dinner with my friend, and we went to see some friends of ours in a show.  It was a fun night, but we were out late.  Saturday we were pretty lazy, I did some grocery shopping and our friends came by with our goddaughter to help move some furniture.  She is so adorable, I love her.  Also we discovered we have some leaking in the house, and part of our gutter needs to be repaired.  H is calling someone to fix everything this week.  H & I stayed up late, binge watching Game of Thrones and playing board games.

Sunday we were lazy again, but it's been nice being so lazy.  I think next weekend will be pretty busy between Easter and now getting our lawn ready for spring.   I have the dentist after work today and I'm really not looking forward to it at all.

  • I am so tired!  We packed in a lot this weekend.

Friday I left at lunch...  we had some Guatemalan food and then ran a zillion errands.  I picked up a few more books at Half Price Books, too.

Saturday we got up and worked in the garden and then ran to Home Depot where I bought some more plants and pots and then went home and worked in the garden some more!  We ran by the mercado and had lunch and picked up some stuff so I could make chile colorado.  H cleaned out the storm cellar and I cleaned the house.  I switched my winter and spring/summer stuff and we cleaned out a bunch of trash from the closet (lots of empty boxes and stuff).  My mom came over and ate dinner with us... chile colorado, coconut rice, salad, guac and plantain chips.  My mom and I went to Homegoods and H hung out with his cousins.

By the time I went to bed Saturday night, my legs/knees/feet were aching SO BAD.

    Yesterday I restarted PiYo.

I need to upload some pictures of our garden area today!  It is starting to look so pretty.  I am ordering a patio umbrella to go over our patio table, and I plan to repaint the table and chairs and get some colorful pillows to stick out there.  I am so glad the student loans are paid off, I can finally start to landscape and fix up the back yard!
  • Good Morning ladies!

I still need to watch TWD - wanted to stay up for it but didn't feel well (migraine, still feeling the after affects today, I'm muscling through it though.)

This weekend was interesting.  We went to ILs for homemade pizza.  BIL's GF brought her not-so-well-behaved-hyper puppy and SIL brought her puppy - SIL's puppy is a lot more calm and got upset at the not-so-calm puppy so we had to hold him pretty much the entire time.  BIL's GF got all upset because her puppy's behavior and when asked 'Are you ok' she said 'Not really, but it's ok' all snarky like.  While she was eating she was oddly looking under the table and when asked why she said 'I'm watching my puppy because I don't feel others should have to' - I think she said this because SIL made a comment about how my ILs are watching BIL's GF puppy and showed very little interest in her own puppy.  It was just crazy - food was good, ILs were good, but BILs GF made things weird (again).

  • @CLoGreenEyes I thought it was really good, I'm excited for next season.  Although I was expecting some other things that did not happen.  I don't want to spoil for anyone that hasn't watched it yet.

  • @allusive007 - I saw Insurgent this weekend two and couldn't agree more!

@Southernpeach89 - Who closes the bar at 9?!?

@Swazzle - I'll join you on the hungover train this weekend.  Ugh.

@Peaseblossom55 - Sorry about the leak.  Homeownership sucks sometimes.

    ----------------------------------------------

I'm tired and bummed to be at work. H's birthday was yesterday so we went out to eat and had a good time.  I think he liked his presents (they were pretty practical but he seemed happy).   It is H and my anniversary today so both of us want to be home but we have to work.  Speaking of presents, H and I went on a cleaning spree this weekend and while cleaning I found my anniversary present for today so that bummed me out a bit and then made me laugh...why H decided to "hide" it in plain sight or didn't warn me when I started to clean the room it was "hidden" in is beyond me but it is still pretty funny.  He got me a swimsuit wrap and a robe.  I think he feels bad about me finding the gift so I think he ordered something else for me to open before our trip...I love him.  Tonight we are going to open a bottle of bubbly and maybe order take out.  Good times!

  • Morning, all!

This weekend FI and I booked the rehearsal dinner. Our officiant had pneumonia and vertigo this last month and still isn't back on her feet (it's been about 3 weeks) ... good vibes for her, please. She's really sweet. Her colleague will proof our bulletin so I can get it printed and scored this week.

In non-WR news, FI and I are now both trained storm spotters and it's amazing what you can be certified for in three hours. Also about half the peonies are gone - we have twice as many as we thought we did, so we're going to give some more to my aunt, some to FI's DM, and the rest we're just going to dig out.
  • @allusive007 - (general recipe courtesy of @csousa1) I make some garlic oil by simmering some chopped garlic for a few minutes. I also add a little butter to it. I roast up chopped or sliced butternut squash with some olive oil, salt, and pepper, until tender, and I make caramelized onions. After stretching out your dough, brush it all over with the garlic butter/oil, place squash  and carmelized onions evenly over the dough, then top with goat cheese and some Parmesan (I usually add soem mozzarella too). I bake at about 510 degrees for 10 minutes.

@csousa1 recommends fried sage as well!

  • @CLoGreenEyes - I don't want to spoil it for anyone that didn't get to watch last night. Maybe we should start a new thread?

@allusive007 - I really hated Divergent (the movie) so I've had no intention of seeing Insurgent. What are your thoughts? Should I see it? I loved the books.

    @minskat30 - Happy anniversary!

    Happy Anniversay @minskat30 !

Friday I worked out when I got home and then relaxed the rest of the night like usual. FI worked overnight so I went to bed around 12.

Saturday I laid in bed for a long time since I didn't want to get up and make noise since Fi was only getting a few hours of sleep before he went back to work since he worked a double. I worked out and did laundry when he left. I ordered stamps online for our invites since I'm too lazy to go to the PO again. Btw, the one I went to told me postage was .70 - the worker at the PO FI went to is a dumbass for telling him "one stamp, maybe two".
I ordered a pizza and went to bed when FI texted me he was goimg out after work.

Sunday I laid in bed AGAIN waiting for FI to wake up and then we watched TV in bed when he woke up since he was off yesterday. We had a really lazy day and then I went food shopping, looked at some HM destinations and then we went out to eat. Also FI's mom called him 3 times yesterday and was being super emotional about not seeing him a lot. I think she's having a hard time with the fact that he's turning 30 and getting married and he's an only child. She's a little dramatic though.

  • sounds like everyone had a great weekend! im so tired today.....last night i could not fall asleep til about 3am...no idea why. BF and i went to bed around 12 so i was frustrated just sitting there trying to sleep. ugh. hes off today so i left him a crock pot recipe to start around noon so at least dinner should be taken care of so i can just go home and veg.

my weekend was great! friday i had my girl date from the internet...we really hit it off and she brought another friend along and we clicked too. of course, the 7 glasses of wine i drank helped too. but both girls texted me later in the weekend to say hi, so thats a win! saturday and sunday i didnt do much (BF was working) but i did go to bootcamp both days! success!

    ok need coffee now.....
  • My sister was in town all of last week and left Saturday so I spent time with her.

I did finally lose some weight now, yea! Only .6 pounds but whatever, I'll take it! BF and I did this insane workout last night that I did on Thursday. It's called the countdown. You do 10 jumping jacks, 10 pushups, 10 squats, 10 crunches and 10 jump ropes. Then you do 9 of each, then 8, etc. down to 1. It only takes 15 minutes or so but I was telling him how sore I was from doing it Thursday and how badly it kicked my butt! I don't think he believed me that it would be that hard so he did it with me last night.....guess who is sore now? Thankfully, I can lift my arms today but can't say the same for BF. I don't think he will be joining me at the gym tonight, lol.

I am so tired today.....Can it be Sunday again? I just need one more day....

  • @hummingbird125 - oh my goodness...I WANT THAT PIZZA NOW! That sounds so delish. mmm...

@Swazzle - I actually liked Divergent, though the movies never live up to the books IMHO. I was less happy with Insurgent, so if you didn't like Divergent it probably isn't worth your time. I don't want to give anything away, but they changed enough in the end of Insurgent that I really wonder how much they're going to change in the final film. It did make me want to go back and read the books again though.

  • @KeptInStitches - Come storm-watch here, you're sure to catch some serious action!
  • Morning all!

@allusive007 - My FSIL wants to go see Insurgent, but from the trailers I don't know if I'm interested...it looks like there's a bunch of stuff that isn't actually in the book.

    @miskat30 - Happy anniversary!

@KeptInStitches - I hope your officiant starts feeling better soon! That's really rough.

@Hummingbird125 - That pizza sounds amazing, now I'm trying to figure out if I can make it sometime this week...

I've been sick for a few days and am really feeling done with it! I think I'm just run down and need to be taking better care of myself for the next few weeks.

Friday I felt really shitty and decided to stay home. I literally watched Grey's Anatomy all day; I missed most of last season so I went back a couple seasons and started watching again.

Saturday FI came over after hockey and we made a really good breakfast. I did a bit of cleaning and we just hung out for a bit and then ran a couple errands. Got ties for him and the GMs, so I'm glad we have that crossed off. Saturday night we went to the Leafs game, and they won...unfortunately. There are only a few more home games this season so that might've been our last one.

Yesterday was church and then family lunch and nap time and back to church.

Today I am tired and feel like I have a ton of WR things to follow up on, plus all of my regular work. At least it's a short week!

    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • Good morning ladies!

So we had 3 venue tours this weekend. We went to see the castle Friday evening. Wow. That's all I got to say. It was gorgeous, but the more FI and I talked about it, it may end up being a logistical nightmare, despite being only a few blocks from our apartment. We also haven't heard back from the caterer for the castle about any sort of estimate. The plus is, they will reduce the site fee from $5000 to $3500 if we have the wedding next March. There are going to be so many other costs involved though, besides foods. For example, there's very little decorations so we would spend a lot on that. Also, the chapel where the ceremony would be has this MASSIVE organ, so FI and I realized we would need to find someone who could play the organ (thankfully the's a music school next door). They also don't have any sound system so we would need to have a DJ (something we really were going to cut corners on).

The other two places we looked at on Saturday (in the SNOW!!!) were great but we didn't fall in love with either of them. Pelham Bay Split Rock is our best bet on most levels - it's well within our budget ($75pp in April for a buffet with full open bar or a sit down with just beer, wine, and a sig cocktail, and $500 ceremony fee...we could even go as low as $65pp for the buffet with beer, wine, and a sig cocktail), it's in the city so it's convenient for a lot of people, and it's really pretty. Also, April is considered off-season so we could have the wedding a little later and be more likely to have fair weather. The food looks awesome, even their buffet has a carving station with leg of lamb!! The cake is included, and no cutting or corkage fees. The cons of it are it's very modern and not necessarily our personality. Though, FI saw some pictures/reviews somewhere that people did more off-beat weddings there so we may be okay.

The second place we looked at on Saturday was Dutchess Manor up in the Hudson Valley. The biggest con of this is it's a far trip for everyone and requires everyone to stay in a hotel. It's also pushing us back into March for off-season and they don't make any attempt to clean up outside our plant flowers before Easter so we couldn't have an outdoor wedding even if we wanted it, whereas Pelham said they clean up and plant before the first wedding of the season and they have a very cute gazebo to get married in. It's also more expensive (but AI) and is not exclusive use of the space, they stagger two weddings, unless we spend more money ($89pp vs $82pp for March). The biggest benefit was the owner knows his shit, he was anticipating our needs and questions before we even asked and he gave us some really good advice. He also didn't make us feel rushed, he spent almost an hour and a half with us, whereas the guy at Pelham we were in and out in 30 minutes.

I just wish we had fallen in love with one of the venues. We have two more venues were looking at next weekend - Bronxville Women's Club and Cortlandt Colonial Manor. If we don't fall in love with those we may start looking in Long Island.

    @untouchablets - BF has a Toyota Corolla (2001 I think). It's a great car. Very reliable!

@nycgal85- I'm sorry you didn't have much luck with the venues you looked at. Hopefully you'll have more luck at the next ones!

@allusive007 - Your H's excitement is so adorable! I can't believe how close you're getting

I'm in a bitchy mood this morning. I'm annoyed by everything my co-worker has said/done since she walked in for no other reason than I'm just in a bad mood. Hopefully, I'll get more pleasant as the day goes on.

I'm currently waiting to hear back about an interview I had last week. I did a phone interview during my lunch break on Thursday for a position I'm really excited about. It's a career advisor position at one of the local colleges. Not teaching, obviously, but I'd be back in higher ed and it sounds like it would be a good fit. They are supposed to contact people soon for a second interview and I'm really hoping they call!
