  • Seriously, they say a third of all business are open on Saturdays.  Why can't they have an interview then?

Also, you never answered my question of "does this place you are hypothetically interviewing at have office hours on Saturday?"

Actually, you haven't answered any of my questions.
  • Can we let this thread die. It's not even a good troll.

I mean, you could just stop reading it.
  • No, this place does not have Saturday hours.

Who is they? Are these businesses the ones you're applying for jobs with? Have any of them called you to set up an interview?

Businesses have the luxury of deciding when they do and do not conduct interviews. Because it is their business.
  • Then THIS BUSINESS DOES NOT DO INTERVIEWS ON SATURDAYS!

Am I talking to a room full of chimpanzees with computers?
But why not?!?!? 87.4% of all businesses are open on Saturdays. Not this business but 87.4% are. Why can't they change the entire way they do business to suit my needs?
  • Saturday interviews would really help businesses. And if you think raising taxes is going to jump start the economy.....good luck with that.

  • I'm afraid I don't have the luxury of taking time off.  That's the problem.

And that's what sick days are for. Call in sick, go to interview.

There's no place for logic in this thread.

Yeah, get out of here with those kinds of crazy ideas!
  • I was really hopping to come back to a good thread.

    This didn't met my expectations.

For the record, I've worked at a lot of places that are open 24/7/365.   Not one of them does interviews on the weekends.   Just because the place is always open doesn't mean every single employee in every single department is open 24/7/365.  I work at a place that is open 24/7/365.   i'm the only one who does my job at work.  I am not available 24/7/365.

True story.  I showed up at the Denver airport at 9 pm for a red-eye, some businesses were already closed.  Then when I arrived at Boston at 4:30am,  Dunkin donuts wasn't open yet.   So even though the both airports were open not every department/business was open.

Bottom line is if you want the job bad enough you will find a way to make the interview, because someone else WILL make the effort.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

I freaking hate that Denver-to-Boston redeye flight.  It's the worst.  One time it was delayed for 6 hours and FI and I had to take turns sleeping on the airport floor until 3:30 AM just in case it left early.  Never again.  Never.  Again.

ugh, I did the Denver to JFK red eye once. NEVER AGAIN. Seriously, it was the worst. It isn't a long enough flight or far away enough for a red eye!

We've done DIA-BOS and DIA-JFK once each.   The last time was last week.   Not a fan, as you said, it's not really long enough for a red-eye.  We did it because (1) it worked with my work schedule and (2) it's so much cheaper then flying out of Aspen.

Even with drying to Denver it saved us over $700.  Which is more than the 2 tickets on the red-eye.

sarahufl.  I will take the redeyes from San Francisco and LA over the redeye from Denver any day.  Those are long enough that you have a chance for at least one halfway decent stretch of sleep and you're not landing at 4:30 AM.  The Denver redeye .  .  . not so much.
  • This whole thread is so ridiculous.

Well, it was until we started talking about redeye flights.

In Chicago, the RedEye is the shortened free version of the Tribune they give out at train stations and have boxes for on every corner.

To me it's a coffee with an extra shot of espresso.

Maybe OP could get a job making those. They'd probably interview her on a Saturday.
