Wedding Woes

I might have to cancel...

I have less than two months until my fiance and I are supposed to be getting married. I have paid over $2000 on deposits for all my vendors. All deposits are non refundable. My fiance lost his job a month ago, and I have been trying to come up with money on my own, but since he lost his job, I am also trying to cover everyday living expenses. I just don't have enough. I tried to get a loan through a bank, but was told that I don't make enough money to justify a loan. Our families are not financially able to help us out either. Any suggestions on us getting married? or do we have to cancel? I am just not sure what to do....

Re: I might have to cancel...

  • Have you discussed the issue with your vendors?  Let them know the situation and see if they'll work with you to change packages, etc. to lower your costs.
  • 1.  Contact your vendors immediately and explain your problem.  They may be very understanding.

    2.  You don't need to spend a lot of money to have a lovely wedding.  My sister was married in a park shelter, and served picnic food for her reception.  It was great!  My own wedding was a church wedding with cake and punch in the fellowship hall.

You might need to revise your plans, but you don't need to cancel your wedding unless you are hooked into a "wedding vision".

Get going to those vendors, and best wishes!

  • Have you discussed this with your FI? You haven't mentioned his opinion/thoughts on how to address the situation.

THIS!!!!  Many would rather work with you than have the cancellation - and the sooner the better too!!!!  Remember, you've got to get super flexible to aid in the process, but you won't know until you talk to them...
