I used a hashtag at the last wedding I went to, but they were family and I was really into instagram at the time. I think they're best when they're super simple.

My last job I was logged into a webinar that was for clients. I was horrified to hear when the phone prompt said "please enter your access code followed by the pound or hashtag sign".

So I wrote on the board: "Finding the # when you know the percent"

I use hashtags for weddings and events as it's fun to search on Instagram and see everyone that posted a picture. But definitely the simpler the better.

Funny "hashtag"story. H was scrolling through FB the other day (and not a big social media person at all) and saw this picture of an old friend working out at the gym. He shows it to me and said "why do people take pictures while working out? he even wrote pound 'shredded'"

Took me a second to realize he meant to say hashtag not pound! (#shredded). Lol it was so cute when I realize what an old man I have!

Seconding this. I now know your first and last name, your fiance's first and last name, your location, wedding date, and everywhere you've worked since you graduated from college (thanks LinkedIn). I'm also pretty sure that I know your fiance's address. Do not use your full name as your username.

If you're tech savvy enough to want to come up with your own hashtag for your wedding, you should really be tech savvy enough to know that you shouldn't be posting private info all over the internet.

Thirded. If you can't get it to work, page @KnotRiley and she can get it changed for you, I think. I found just about every social media account you have - including your Facebook profile.

Please change it. Anonymous, public forums are not good places for personal info.

Here's the thing - no one cares, most people think wedding hashtags are pointless, and people like you come on here so often without actually bothering to get to know the community and ask us to do something that is really your job, totally a matter of personal preference, and isn't that hard for you to just figure out, and then you (general you) often insult us for not trying hard enough. Why on earth would we?
