@jenjen047 Yes other countries get a lot more for maternity leave than the United States. I believe Canada may get almost a full year off? I know one of my coworkers in Switzerland took 6 months. I was super jealous.

@eilis1228 ugh I hate days like that! I definitely have them where I just come home and want to scream and cry because it seems like I have a million little things to fix. Hopefully you get it all straightened out with the surgery center and fitbit and everything and he gets a job soon!

@southernpeach89 do you get paid the whole 13 weeks? That is really good! (well for US standards). We are TTC and my company told me it's something like 50% pay for 12 weeks, which equates to 6 weeks full pay. Kinda shitty but whatever.

I was so tired and sleepy yesterday evening that I could barely function, but then I couldn't sleep! I feel awful today, so I'm resting a bit before going in and finishing up some experiments. I'm probably working 13 hours tomorrow, so gotta rest up.

Would definitely be up for a MA GTG this summer, by the way!

It is my Saturday today. I've accomplished absolutely nothing so far and it is glorious. I had two work events this week and a really frustrating day yesterday so... I just need to chill.

@bethsmiles I know it's so sad. It really frustrates me when I hear about some cases of women not getting any paid time off.

@jenna8984 Yes it's paid. I get 6 weeks Short Term Disability and then 7 weeks of Paid Family Leave. I'm very grateful for what my company gives because I know other places just get the 6 weeks which to me is not enough time at all.

@eilis1228 - i get like that too. i always have tons of things to take care of and BF never seems to have more than 2 things on his to-do list. sometimes it spills over and i freak out. *hugs* hope you're feeling better.

@alpacina - i never stomp on roaches bc i heard the eggs will attach to your shoe and then you will transport them around your house. gross!! i spray Raid all over them until they die and then pick them up with a paper towel and throw away or flush. btw, most roaches are teeny tiny little bitty ones like the size of my ring finger nail. if they are any bigger, i scream for BF.

@eilis1228 - I'm sorry all of that stuff is piling up. I was just reading an article the other day about how us women are the 'designated worriers' i.e. the one's who remember to do all the stuff that needs to get done. My DH is fantastic about doing stuff around the house, cleaning the kitchen, etc, but when it comes to remembering to send birthday cards, what days we're going to be out of town, etc, he's terrible. It can be overwhelming to have all of that stuff on your brain!

@bethsmiles - I love that John Oliver clip. Seriously, corporations... how can you put out an ad about how great mom's are but then not help them out AT ALL?

@jenjen047 Much better now, thank you! He definitely has a lot on his plate, but it's mostly work related. I know he's miserable in his current job, so I try to let him relax and veg when he gets home every night, so it's partially my fault for not communicating with him earlier that I was starting to feel overloaded. Definitely going to work on that for next time (because I'm sure there will be a next time lol).

@southernpeach89 Six months paid maternity leave is unreal! That's so awesome! However, I'm trying to imagine how terrible it would be to come to work and catch up on 6 months worth of stuff... UGH.

@jenna8984 Thank you! I'm feeling much better today. I got quite a bit done yesterday, which helped.

@Swazzle I think you asked in a different post about Liane Moriarty, but no, I've not read her books yet. I downloaded one right after Christmas but haven't opened it yet... will definitely keep her in mind for after GotT.

I get so angry every time I think about Maternity leave & paternity leave in this country. It makes me sick. If I were to get pregnant right now I wouldn't be able to take any vacation or sick time because I'd have to save it all for FMLA as I don't have enough right now. I can be out for 12 weeks but if I want to get paid I have to use all vaca time and when that runs out it's sick time.

Going to catch up on everything I've missed. I wasn't around at all this weekend since my mom was in town and I had my bachelorette party and a lot of wedding meetings!

@jenjen047 I did! I went Thursday when I left work. They gave me the Groupon discount. I wanted to start right away but can't since I want to go tanning before the wedding and you can't tan about 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after you have a session. So I'm going in July 2 weeks after we get back from our HM. I'm excited but I wish I thought of this a long time ago so I'd be hair free for wedding and HM!
