FYI: I went to the post office today to get the price to mail two of my international invitations. While there I decided to verify the postage required for my domestic invitations. I am glad I did. Effective TODAY the cost went up 1 cent. I had already bought postage at 70 cents for each of my invites for an estimate I got at the time I ordered my invites. Boo!
To top it off the 71 cent wedding stamps were not in yet at the post office I went to. They will be in by the end of this week or I can order them online which I will probably do. My invites need to be out by 6/15 so I should be ok. Conversely I could get the 1 cent stamp to use with the sheets of 70 cent stamps I but they would have a tiffany lamp or bobcat on them. Now how would that look with a wedding stamp? LOL!
Re: Wedding Invitation Postage - 6/1/15 Increase
OMG this is what happened to me today at the post office. I walked in so excited to send my beautiful invitations out with my 70 cent stamp and they told me I had to put the lamp stamp on it. I was so upset they look so nice and i spent so much to get them with calligraphy on it and now they will have this ugly 1 cent stamp next to it. If i didn’t pay for them and have them on the envelopes already i wouldn’t care. they said i could buy the 71 cent one and put it over the 70 cent one but then i would have to spend over another 100 dollars on stamps again to do that. The man at the counter of the post office felt so bad for me and tried to make me feel better by saying most people will not notice the stamp anyway and i guess he is right lol. this is just the beginning of things to go wrong with a wedding and i guess we just have to get used to it <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

@creato2304 - The wedding cake stamp I purchased clearly indicates it is for 70 cents. If you have the two ounce wedding cake with 2015 on it you should be good to go. Of course, to be sure confirm before mailing.
I never understand why the post office fusses when someone requests hand cancellation. It is a service they offer, right? So get over it. I am not a big fan of my LP requests at work but it is my job so I do it. Sheesh. LOL!

On another note, are you ladies placing a postage stamp on the inner envelopes? I have heard that some have opted out of doing this. The last wedding I was invited to, they had their guests pay for their own postage to RSVP. Is there etiquette for opting to do this?
