@swazzle I had a stomach bug yesterday and stayed home from work and binge watched PLL on Netflix all day! I'm hooked! I'm only on season 2 so I have a lot of catching up to do!
@eilis1228 OMG I LOVE YOUR INVITATIONS! The Death Star is amazing .
@AlPacina ugh FI does the same thing. And he stayed up until 1 am last night despite the fact that I told him we needed to get up early. He was grumpy this morning and kept hitting snooze.
Did you hit snooze today? Yes. FI's family was up super late last night and sound carries in our townhouse, so I didn't really get to sleep until around 1 am. Then I woke up quickly around 6 to say goodbye to them before they left for the airport, and went back to bed. My alarm was set for 7:45. I ended up hitting snooze, then changing the alarm for 8:30.
How many times do you usually hit that snooze button? Almost never. Only if I am really tired. See above. FI hits it 4-5 times a morning.
What would you rather be doing right now? Getting a massage somewhere by the ocean. Or really anything relaxing. Just not at work. Despite the fact that I can't focus at all today.

So hi! I know I have kind of been in and out lately, but the past week was crazy. We had 5 people staying with us at one point, so 7 total in our 1200 square foot place! We ate out a lot last week because of our guests and our weight loss stalled, despite doing our best to eat within our diet while out. I think many dishes had hidden carbs in them (since restaurants like to add sugar to things that otherwise wouldn't have it). I'm up 2 pounds as of this morning . I'm hoping to be down 4 pounds by Friday, because I'm going wedding dress shopping!
One of my best friends arrived on Saturday, and the two of us got our nails done on Sunday. It was wonderful since I haven't had them done in a while.
Oh, and I have some job news. FI also applied to another major company in the Bay Area (hint: it has a piece of fruit for it's logo), and had an HR person reach out to him about a position that he is 100% qualified for. He had a call with that person yesterday, and that person was impressed enough to let FI know that his resume is being passed on to the hiring manager and he should be hearing something within 2-3 days! FI thinks that it went well and that he will probably get an interview, so fingers crossed! We have a colleague who was just hired by them and the entire interview process only took a few weeks, so if this goes well we could be moving within a month or two! Just thinking about that possibility is making me very happy!
@alpacina I told her that I want to quit my job ASAP, that want to primarily train but I will walk dogs to make ends meet if I need to (her business is dog walking and training). I also told her my personal goal of getting my own dog to train from start to finish and compete with so that I can prove myself as a trainer, and we started working on a plan for that.
Thanks everyone for wishing me luck! It was great, a slow day which I appreciated since I was totally new at this. I taught a golden retriever puppy how to "wave" with some guidance and it was fun! Basically I was asked to give commands and practice with him so she could see if I have any bad habits. So far she was impressed except I have a couple things to work on but now that I'm aware I should be able to improve easily.
Also you guys...OMG OMG OMG. I'm freaking out. I just logged into my LinkedIn profile to update it more on my lunch break, and I had a message from a recruiter at the fruit company for a similar position too! Not the one that FI was contacted about though, so we wouldn't be competing for the same position.
On one hand, I do enjoy the engineering part of my job, and I think I could get some better experience there. My salary would also be double what it is now, and there is a chance that FI and I could both get jobs there, so we would have double the income that we currently make.
On the other hand, I don't like the politics present in my job, and I have heard the environment is similar if not worse at that company. It could be dependant on the team, but still. Plus, there are great options in that area for both wedding planning and law school, and FI could support both of us while I figure out what I want to do. I am really conflicted about this right now!
@aurorarose41 I say go for it. It sounds like an amazing opportunity, and who knows could turn out to be your dream job. You can also keep figuring out what you want to do, while working for the new place. Also - good news for you, they'll probably be adding season 6 of pll to netflix by the time you're caught up with the seasons!
@alpacina Yes, they like to dangle A, but tonight they're supposed to answer all the questions because when it starts back up in the winter it will be 5 years later.
All the NEY vibes worked!!! We are done with our basement inspection. He found one more thing and I told the electrician to fix it while the inspector was still inspecting (I asked the electrician to be there in case this happened). DONE!!!!

@aurorarose41 Exciting! Good luck to both you and FI. Are you already dead set on moving to SF or is it just an idea you've been tossing around? Because of coure with double the salary you'll be paying double in housing costs up there, which I'm sure you know cuz you're not an idiot hahah. But the best of luck!! Doesn't "that" company have all the awesome stuff like free cafateria, yoga classes, etc? I'd frigen love that.
@jenna8984 Thanks! And we aren't dead set on it, but it seems that the SF area has the most opportunity for us in our current careers. On top of that, we already live in a very high cost of living area, and our current company (which just publicly announced layoffs) is the only place in our area now for our career field. Most of the housing outside of SF (in the San Jose area) is actually similar to what we pay now (it would be a 20-30% increase most likely, but definitely not double), so double the salary for both of us would just mean saving up faster to buy a house.
They do have some awesome benefits from what I have heard. The cafeteria isn't free, but they give engineers a dinner voucher that pretty much covers lunch the next day as well, and I have seen some reports that they don't have a gym. But the pay is better, and the health insurance benefits sound better than our current company as well (but our current company has gyms, a pool, and tons of fitness classes, though the classes aren't free). I think you might be thinking of the other major company down the road that is known for its search engine. FI actually also applied there but they also just announced layoffs, so we don't have our hopes up for that one.
