So I'm back from my week-long weekend - H and I went on our honeymoon! Friday the 7th was graduation - I thought I'd be getting an orange hood for my college, but all the Ph.D.s got blue hoods instead so today or tomorrow I'll have to go up to the bookstore and ask why I don't seem to have gotten the right hood. Blech. Otherwise, the ceremony was awesome (and short - <90 minutes). Afterwards H, my parents, my uncle and aunt, another one of my uncles, and my great-aunt went out to dinner to celebrate.

Then Saturday the 8th H and I flew out to DC for our honeymoon!! We stayed at AKA White House, which was an amazing hotel - totally worth it. We toured the National Mall, Smithsonian museums (American History, Natural History, Air & Space, portions of American Indian and Hirshhorn, Freer and Sackler, the Castle, and the Portrait Gallery), Ford's Theater, and the National Archives. We walked down to the Capitol building but didn't tour; same with the White House - we actually walked past the WH almost every day. We also ate ridiculously expensive and awesome meals; my favorite was the crab cakes at Old Ebbitt Grill, but Cafe Mozart came close for sheer fun - family-style German food with live music. We flew back in yesterday late and I am beat at work today - so is he. No pictures yet because we took over 1200, but as soon as we sort through them I promise to do a proper AW post.

ETA: Forgot Arlington National Cemetery. Also, we walked almost everywhere (except to Arlington and back - we took the Metro), so I easily walked over 100 miles last week. On the plus side my left foot no longer hurts. I now know what to do next time I twist it - walk 100 miles and call me next week!

@jenjen047 Hmmm getting wedding planning advice can always be interesting. Sometimes people will give you the worst advice in the world, and sometimes it's actually really helpful. I guess just go with an open mind-- if she tells you stuff that you already know or you know to be incorrect, just think of it as entertainment lol. If she gives great advice, then awesome!

@beachyone15 I love Zumba! It's so much fun!

@jenna8984 Ugh, I keep meaning to go through all of our stuff and get rid of a bunch too. It's such a pain in the butt, but it's so worth it. That's awesome that you were able to weed through so much stuff!

@caseface5 I'm sorry the music guy didn't work out! At least you were able to get a response from him though so you know for sure to go in a different direction. Good luck with all your projects this week!

I had a very busy weekend. I need a day off to recover, geez.

On Friday my little brother came over, and then we went to a friend's party. My little brother had a really good time and got along really well with my friends, and it was pretty funny to watch how he acts at a party. He leaves for college this Friday, so I think it was a nice preview of what his life will be like very soon.

On Saturday FI and I picked out our wedding bands! Our jeweler is seriously the best. He's knowledgeable, friendly, and very laid back and honest. I had no idea what kind of band I wanted, and he helped me find one within about 5 minutes. FI got a plain white gold band, and here's a pic of the band I got:

I'm sure the pic is huge. Sorry!

Anywho, after that, FI and I cleaned our apartment, then I went to lunch with my cousin. We hadn't seen each other in a while and really needed to catch up. After lunch we met @audrewuh at the alterations place, and they gave me some good feedback on my second dress fitting. After the fitting, my cousin left and @audrewuh and I went back to my place. A bunch of friends came over, and they helped us stuff the invitations. I was super stressed during the process, but we finished quickly and then chilled afterwards. FI and I made tacos and rice for everyone, and we feasted on some delicious chips and salsa too. Om nom nom. It was a really fun night.

Yesterday FI and I went to the movies to see The Man from U.N.C.L.E, which was really good. Afterwards we went to the grocery store, and then he worked on a cover letter while I knitted. We ended up going to our friends' apartment so they could help with the cover letter, and then afterwards FI and I grabbed dinner at Whataburger and chilled until bedtime.

It's already been a looooong Monday, and it's just now 10am. *sigh*

@eilis1228 Yea for real, I didn't realize how much of my cltohes I don't wear, until they were boxed up for 4 months. Then I'm like yup, definitely don't need this! Love your rings they look great!

@lavenderfields13 My in laws are like one stack of papers away from being an episode of Hoarders. So H is luckily the opposite and wants to just throw out everything all the time. It works out pretty great and has rubbed off on me that I don't really NEED to keep my high school senior video...on VHS. hahah. I'm sorry they got an offer on the place already. Really hope you can get in touch to go look at that one you want or get some others lined up.

I would do more personals but I'm swamped today at work. Just wanted to say "hi". Weekend here was great. I went to spin class Saturday morning and then we went to my sisters' party for the kiddos and had a blast. The kids loved there presents. We went out to brunch yesterday with my aunt and her partner and I ate ALL the food. They wanted to thank me for singing at their wedding so they paid for brunch, which I thought was really sweet of them.

I also finally broke through my weight plateau and lost 1lb this week. I'll take it! I'm actually very happy with my weight loss thus far...20lbs down in about 4 months. I think I have another 5-10lbs to go before all my old clothes fit me again but I wore a dress this weekend I haven't worn in ages and it was so nice to shop in my own closet! I also meal planned for the week yesterday and now I'm exhausted...it was a busy weekend.

Thank you @lavenderfields13 and @labro - spin has done amazing things for my body...that and meal planning. Sadly it is true that abs are made in the kitchen...and my abs love me some gluten free pizza and wine.

@jenna8984 - That's amazing that you still have your great nana! I hear positivity is the key to along life. Is she a pretty positive person?..... Also, my mom just finished converting all of our home videos on VHS to DVDs! Some of them are kind of boring, but I love having them. Totally worth converting. A DVD case takes such a small amount of space!

@caseface5 - Have you seen Bad Grandpa? Because it basically takes the inappropriate dance scene from Little Miss Sunshine and ramps it up another 100 notches. I almost peed myself laughing so hard. Anyway, it's what I thought of when I read about your music guy. That sucks that he was such a flop.

@speakeasy14 - I also love that you're not a psychopath. I know plenty of girls who would do that to their SO. I am not friends with these girls..... One such example is the wedding I recently skipped. The bride kept telling her groom that she wanted to do a joint bach party, because she didn't want him and his friends doing anything stupid. Well, then her sister threw her a surprise bach party that took an entire weekend, and the groom didn't get any sort of party at all.

@KeptInStitches - I can't wait for an AW! I loved DC when I got to visit. It's so beautiful, and Arlington was a sobering experience. I'm so glad you had a blast and ate all the delicious expensive food!

@minskat30 - That's some impressive weight loss! Congratulations!

My weekend was fabulous! Friday night we had our friends and their dog over. The dogs played like crazy, I made lasagna, and we did some drinking and played Ticket To Ride. The guys went to buy smokes and got lost so they were gone for almost 3 hours in the middle of the night and wouldn't answer their phones. We watched Saved (which I should have added to that list of favorite funny movies), and eventually just went to bed. I didn't even wake up when the guys got back.

Saturday my BF's brother came over with the great dane puppy. Holy hell, he's only 5 months old and is already 75 pounds! We just let him the back yard with my dog, thinking no big deal, but I think a combination of new house + the puppy having testicles resulted in my dog attacking him and cutting his ear a bit. It wasn't bad, but my dog is never the aggressive one and we really thought they would be friends.

Sunday was gardening! In my new garden! And then I finished my book. Which was CRAZY, and makes me want to get rid of my Facebook account ASAP...... But I'm never too motivated to do so.

The previous owner of the house is coming over tonight so I can give her some mail and ask her some questions about the history of the house. Does anyone have any questions that they wish they had been able to ask the previous owner of their home? I want to make sure I don't miss anything important.

@AlPacina I guess I'd ask about any renovations they've done that they didn't talk about on the homeowner's disclosure. I dunno, we got most stuff from the disclosure form when we had the house under contract.

Don't feel TOO sorry for my mom. Pretty sure both she and her MOH were both totally drunk when they raided my dad's bachelor party so I doubt she felt much pain lol.

@AlPacina - I'm sorry the pups fought. I wouldn't give up on it yet...did you see your dog attack? Honestly, sometimes puppies get a little aggressive playing and don't know when to stop...might that have been a precursor? I would ask the owners of the house when they did regular maintenance on things (like the roof, furnace check, etc.).

@minskat30 - Yea, it was definitely my dog who was the aggressor. We took them on a walk together afterward and my dog mostly tried to keep his distance, but he was showing his teeth every once in a while. The puppy just ran around, sniffed his butt, wiped his slobber all over my dog... You know, haha.

My dog had an altercation with their other dog before, except the other dog attacked mine that time. So we're going to get them muzzles and have them meet at the dog park. Hopefully they can figure out some kind of muzzled hierarchy so that we can have them near each other at family events. No idea if it will work, but we're hoping. Because they're all typically sweet and playful!

I'm sorry everyone, that's about all I got through since I am responding while having my coffee and letting my hair dry before I leave for work.

Well, you all know what happened on Friday

. Friday night my friend and her BF stayed with us, and they cooked us breakfast Saturday morning. It was nice and relaxing! Sunday FI and I just hung out and did some cleaning. Nothing too exciting, but now I am also trying to figure out what to do with my hair for the day of (it's keeping my mind off the stress at work). ETA: My wedding day hair that is. Just wanted to clarify since I know what my dress and veil look like.

A meeting last week really made me realize that I need a change and am currently in a toxic environment. So I'm really hoping to hear back from the fruit company this week, and FI applied to Tesla over the weekend, which would be located near the fruit company. Fingers crossed! I will definitely keep you all updated.

I was happy that the main character wasn't a "hero" like these books typically have. But it made me sad that it's the way humanity is heading. She reminded me of my little sister, who has to be extremely active on social media because it relates to the type of jobs she wants. I'll miss real conversations.

@AlPacina I definitely cried for her and for humanity at the end of that book. I think what scared me the most is that nothing really seemed THAT out of proportion to real, factual life. KWIM? Like, it's a bit ahead of where we are now, but I see NOTHING stopping us from heading in that direction. And that was what definitely scared me the most.
