H just left for a trip. Only two days. I asked if he wanted me to check him in online and he said yes, and go ahead and pay for the luggage fee.
Me: Ummm...you are going for two days and will be staying with your sister. You don't need to take a gallon of shampoo, so why are you checking that dinky little bag?
:: Eye rolls::
Me: Let me look in your bag and see if there is anything that can't be checked.
::rummaging::
Me: Okay, you don't need three tubes of toothpaste so I'm taking these out and leaving you with just a travel size. And you use mouth wash maybe once a month so I'm taking out this giant bottle as well. If you feel the need, use your sister's. Hair gel? When was the last time you used gel?
::More eye rolling and sighing::
Him: I know how to travel!
Me: And I know how to save $50 by not checking this damn bag!
::more eye rolling, now with huffing and puffing::
He finally agreed that he would carry on his bag. But I am awaiting the phone call that there was something else in his bag that gets him in trouble. Or that he just decided to check the bag because it was "too much trouble."
This is the man that once paid a $350 overweight fee on a bag because he packed a library for a trip on which he would have very little time for reading (and had a 2nd bag that he could have used to redistribute the weight but didn't think of that). And the same man that was less than a centimeter away from having the state police called because TSA found a kitchen knife in his carry-on. I don't think I'm being unreasonable by nagging about these things.

I am married to an overpacker as well. I feel your pain. He brings 5 shirts and three pairs of pants for an overnight trip.
And I LOLed at the ktichen knife.
I have the opposite problem. My DH is an underpacker. If we go away for a night, he brings underwear, socks, shorts to sleep in, and an extra shirt. And wants to put it into my (overpacked) bag. If we're not traveling by plane, I *way* overpack, but I figure that the only one I'm hurting is myself since I'm carrying my bags (and probably DD's, too.)

[QUOTE]Too funny!! My FI is an overpacker too! Case and point: last time he went on vation, he took a whole suitcase just for his flip flops!!

How many flip flops can a man own?

Welll...have you been to Old Navy and seen their collection? He has about one of each variety. I'd say about 15 pair give or take? It's kinda crazy.....not to mention his collection of tshirts.
But FI works in a bank, and HATES to dress up. SO I guess he "makes up" for it after work and on the weekends!
