S/O The Scary Movie Thread

So now that we've talked about movies that scared the crap out of us, what horror movies do you love and could watch over and over again?

Mine:

Silent Hill
House of 1000 Corpses
Dawn of the Dead (the 2004 remake)
Quarantine (and the original Spanish language version REC)
Poltergeist
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
30 Days of Night

I know I'm forgetting so many...

  • The Others, and ironically, the one that scares me the most, The Grudge.
  • Well, a lot of people seem to think I Am Legend is scary so I'll say that one because it didn't scare me at all.  Any other ones?  Fughedaboudit.  If something scares me, I don't watch it again.  Period.

  • The Village.

I know I said I don't like scary movies, but I don't really consider this a scary movie, more a suspenseful movie with a crazy plot twist, which I love.

  • Eye For an Eye
    Blair Witch Project
    Scream

I like more of the psychological scary movies like Sign, the Sixth Sense, etc., and I could watch those over and over.

  • Maybe Scream, since I love Matthew Lillard at the end freaking out!!

    Or Arachnophobia.

Other than that not many.  Although I do enjoy attempting to watch them at home, when I can pause or change the channel if it's getting to be too much.

They are supposed to be making a new one with some of the original cast members like Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette. I think it comes out next year.

  • Saw- all of them
    The Others
Nightmare On Elm Street- all of them (the new remake of the 1st one wasn't bad either!)
    The Hills Have Eyes 1
    The Grudge
Hellraiser- 1, Bloodline & Inferno are the best
  • Rah Digga was hilarious in that movie. "Is that half the lawyer?" and "I gotta get outta here. I'm surrounded by crazy white people..."

  • I will never ever watch the remake of The Hills Have Eyes again. Never ever. I cried the first time during the trailer rape scene, when they ran off with the baby. My ex was like "Why are you crying?" and I answered "Because it's just so saaaaaaadd!".

I didn't find it entertaining in the least to watch that scene. How is a gang-rape and then kidnapping a baby entertainment? I just didn't get it at all.

I almost walked out of the room, but I watched the rest of it out of sheer determination that the baby get returned to its family.

    Oooo Zombieland. That's another favorite.

I'm excited to see the second Paranormal Activity also. I know a few people that went over the weekend and said they really enjoyed it.

ETA: I also loved The Fourth Kind.

  • I didn't see the first Paranormal Activity because i thought it looked stupid. But the second one looks good to me for some reason. I'll have to check them both out sometime.
  • And Rosemary's Baby!

Okay at this rate I'm going to be watching horror movies non-stop for the rest of the week.

<div>The first one was meh. I liked it all right I guess. I did feel kind of uncomfortable after I saw it the first time and we bought it when it came out on DVD. The second one looks much better though. Apparently it's a prequel/sequel so you get some more backstory on WTF is going on.</div>

Usually those kinds of scenes are a total dealbreaker for me too. Especially graphic rape. Like the remake of The Last House on the Left. Ugh. Some things just aren't entertaining, in any way. But I love the retribution/ending of The Hills Have Eyes... I guess the rape scene didn't ruin the whole movie for me.

  • Silent Hill (I love video game movies, even if a lot of them are dumb)
Resident Evil (any of them, though the first is still the best)
    The Exorcism of Emily Rose
    The Ring
    any zombie movie
    any vampire movie

I refuse to watch The Grudge. I think that one is just too scary for me. And I thought Paranormal Activity was boring with occasional bits of creepiness but not actually scary. The Fourth Kind freaked me out but then I read that it really wasn't based on "actual events" and then it wasn't scary anymore.

  • All three Underworld movies
    Zombieland
I hate scary movies, so these aren't particularly scary

  • I can't watch scary movies, the closest I've gotten is Frequency, which isn't pretty low on the scary scale at all except I got freaked out by that creepy rapist. I literally had to go to my parents room so I could fall asleep...and I was in high school.

Yes! That's why it was scary! But once I knew it was made up then the "unknown" fear dissipated for me.

  • To the PP who was  talking about Paranormal Activity 2, it is a prequel/sequel thing. The first one scared the crap out me. I honestly couldn't sleep for 2 weeks. If I think about it, I lay in bed wondering if getting up to go to the bathroom is really worth it. I don't know why either, I've watched it over and over and it only bothered me the FIRST time I watched it. I can watch it and feel fine after but if I think about it, I get scared.

The second one was really well done. I honestly would have liked it more if I didn't go to the theater to watch it. I don't understand why people, who can't handle horror movies AT ALL, go see them in theaters. It did make me jump though and if I was at home I probably would have screamed a few times.

I hate the Grudge. I have them buried in my closet and refuse to watch them.
Those are really the only two that ever really bothered me.

  • This post could take hours for me, as Ang and Salt know.

Just know my TV hasn't budged much from AMC the past two weeks, unless it's been to put in one of the Omen trilogy movies, one of Rob Zombie's Halloweens, Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original ONLY) and oh dear Lord - how dare they do this to me. The original Halloween is playing opposite Terror Train tonight at 7 (central). Damn you, AMC and FMC!

The ones I would prefer to not see again include 28 days later, Blair Witch 2,  and some others.

Romero, Carpenter, and some other names are guarantees for me.

  • Me, too! I'm DVR-ing Terror Train. Not that I don't own both or anything. I can finally appreciate RZ's versions - they just add much, much more to the story and actually stary fairly true.

I must admit, Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 Corpses are not my cup of tea. I think it's Captain Spaulding - the whole clown thing.

What I think is funny is the girls look so much older in the original Halloween than RZ's. Oh and? The girl playing Lindsey is a) now on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills along with her sister (Kyle and Kim Richards) who was in the Witch Mountain movies, and they are aunts to Paris and Nicki Hilton.

Aren't you glad you know that now?
