Thankful Thursday

Good morning! One day closer to Friday and the weekend!

Yesterday after work, I walked home, changed, and headed to the gym. The class was supposed to be Core and More but the first 45 minutes were all arms with a little cardio mixed in. Only the last 15 or so minutes was abs. Regardless, it was a great work out and I plan to go again whenever I can! Today is my rest day because H has a doctor's appointment and he asked me to come with him and I guess you're supposed to rest your muscles at some point throughout the week?

I made my first Home Chef meal last night! First, I already love the service better than Blue Apron because they sent an adorable binder for all of your recipes to go into. I also loved that each meal was separated into its own baggie which saved room in my fridge and time for organizing. I'm a huge fan of organization! I cooked the Salmon Crusted with Everything Bagel Seasoning. It was INCREDIBLE! I think we're probably going to stick with HC over BA going forward.

**********

-I'm thankful that for the first time pretty much ever I'm feeling consistently motivated to lose weight and be healthy. In 9 days, I've worked out 7 times. One of the "off days" was the day I signed up at the community center and the other "off day", I spent hours cleaning my house (which IMO is a work out in itself).

-I'm thankful that H and I were finally able to pay off our credit card bill. We let it get out of hand, recognized that, and handled it. I'm glad we're no longer throwing money in the trash by having to pay interest.

-I'm thankful for pumpkin beer. I had my first of the season the other night (Brooklyn Post Road Pumpkin Ale) and it was glorious.

-I'm thankful for great sex.

Re: Thankful Thursday

  • Yesterday I had my massage.  She added in an extra 30 minutes without me knowing it.  It was amazing and I love her.

A little stressed because I got home late from my massage, rushed through dinner and got up to church to teach with only an hour in between getting home and arriving at the church.  So I didn't get a chance to clean up the house last night.  Not good because my first lesson starts at 5 PM tonight.  I'll probably leave around 3:30 or so, pick up food at Panera, and hurry up to clean at least the main room and kitchen.  Ah!!!

Tonight I'm teaching from 5:00-7:30, then a work out, then bed.  So exciting.  But I love Thursdays because they are my last full day of the work week, and that is amazing.

My allergies are awful this morning.  I was running late so I forgot to take a Zyrtec.  Whoops.

Last night I had a dream about my baking class this weekend.  I guess I'm more worried about it than I thought!  I dreamed that more than 100 people showed up, I had no where to put them and only prepared for 15, I forgot to put out the butter to come to room temperature, I had none of my bowls or mixers or trays... it was awful!!

    I am thankful for...
    Coffee.
    Morning pup snuggles.
Our home.  It is just right for us and I love it.
A great masseuse who is also a friend now.
The really sweet people that we have in our Spanish-speaking group right now.  It's a very safe place for me to feel comfortable speaking Spanish and being a part of the group, without being treated differently.  I really enjoy our "family".
    Food.  All the food.

  • @southernpeach89 - Your last date as a family of 2!!!! That is adorable.

@CocoBellaF - That's so nice that you got an extra long massage!

  • @southernpeach89 - I hope you all have a wonderful time on your date!!
  • @labro No lol we are going to Locos Sports Bar. They don't serve any Italian food lol.
  • @southernpeach89 I mean, I think you should definitely take some time to go is what I'm saying. Callie told me she wants some eggplant parmesan.

  • @labro If we get some time next week then I will mention it to DH.
  • @southernpeach89 Have fun on your date :) Next time you'll need a babysitter!

@labro I hate when my period doesn't come exactly when it's supposed to too. I hate it but I just want it to come and go on time so I can get back to my normal life. Periods are seriously the worst.
Speaking of- what does everyone think about those Thinx underwear??

I'm so disappointed in myself, I haven't exercised at all since Sunday. I don't even remember what my excuse was last night. I just can't get into the groove but every time I put on my jeans and they're a little too tight I'm all depressed. Ugh

Even though the house we live in is being sold at the most inopportune time and we're going to be out so much money for rent soon I'm thankful that we have a roof over our heads and good jobs.

I'm thankful for my mom who is always there to listen to me vent and give me advice.

I'm thankful for my PITA cat who is so cute sometimes

I'm thankful for my husband who can drive me nuts but always make me laugh

  • @labro - A walk around the neighborhood is something! I really hope SF doesn't send you $300 jeans. I already can't wait for my next Fix. I requested olive and burgundy things and tops to layer under cardigans.

  • @Swazzle Home Chef sounds good too! I'm sure BF would love something like that, it's just totally not in our budget right now. Hopefully soon since we have some big bills that are about to be paid off. Hopefully then I can get back to ordering SF too!

@SouthernPeach89 I hope you enjoy your last date night!! I would be super freaked out if I lost a spider in our bedroom. Hope you are able to find it and kill the bastard soon!!

@CocoBellaF Glad you had a nice massage!

@LaBro Sucks that you haven't been able to get in a workout because of work. It is year end for you? Hope it slows down for you soon!

Last night I stayed up to watch the finale of America's Got Talent and I was so disappointed by the winner. Oh well. Tonight I have practice and then will be coming home to watch football with BF. I can feel a cold coming on so I am taking meds to hopefully kill it before it becomes full blown!

I'm glad were doing thankful things today because I feel like I have been such a Debby downer here lately and I swear I am not a miserable person!

-I am thankful BF is okay and no one got seriously injured in the accident the other day.

-I am thankful for Tessie and all her snuggles and kisses.

    -I am thankful for coffee.

-I am thankful for my cheer family. The girls stress me out and it is a ton of work, but I love those girls and the bond that we all have. I am so proud of them for being roll models for the younger ones and thankful that they are truly making an effort to grow the program.

-I am thankful that there might be a Disney trip in my future!

  • @lavenderfields13 I'm not 100% sure about how I feel about them for ME, but apparently they come in all shapes, including thongs, so I dunno. I may consider it. I normally stick with a tampon a liner in case of leaks but I hate my "period" underwear too. I know they're trying to market similar products in Africa for young women who otherwise have to stop going to school because they don't have a way to easily manage their period. I think they are a great product!

  • @labro I do the same thing. I tried the Diva Cup too and I just couldn't get the hang of it.
I think at some point I might buy the Thinx and try them with nothing - I'd have to be at home though- and see how badly that goes lol.

Oh I'm also thankful that I just paid off my car today!! Literally every time I get ahead something bad happens in return so now I'm waiting for my car to shit the bed because that would happen. In the mean time though I'm excited! Credit card is paid off and now car. Now the only debt I have is my waste of a student loan.

  • @lavenderfields13, @labro - I don't know a lot about these undies. Are you supposed to JUST wear them? Or wear them with a tampon? I can't imagine just bleeding into my underwear all day even if they're specialized for periods. I'd be so grossed out and feel dirty.

@swazzle is it a big cost difference between BA & HC?
    @southernpeach89 enjoy your date night!
@cocobellaf Sounds like you definitely needed the extra 30 minutes.  Don't stress, I'm sure your class will go great.
@labro ugh I hate when that happens.  Hopefully you're able to relax this weekend so your body can go back to normal.

I have had no energy lately.  I don't know if it is because I am bored or really just that tired.  Each night after dinner I sit on the couch to relax and end up falling asleep; I'm usually out cold by 9.  I feel bad because while I'm passed out on the couch my bf is working on the addition.  He's at a stage I can start helping him, so hopefully that will help me get my energy back.  If not, I need to figure something out.

Today is going to be crazy at work. I am taking a half day tomorrow so I pretty much have to get everything done today.  Tonight I have class, then hopefully keeping busy and not passing out on the couch. Tomorrow I have a half day for my bf's best friend's wedding.  Their ceremony is about 5 minutes from our house so our plan is to go back afterwards and grab the dog.  The reception is closer to his parents so we're just going to spend the night there.  There's a gap, so we're not planning on rushing around and possibly taking a nap.

    I am thankful for:
My amazing bf.  My lovable, goofy, weird dog.  A roof over my head.  My family.  A job I love at an amazing company.  And also grateful for amazing sex.

@swazzle - Awesome job with the workouts!

@southernpeach89 - Enjoy your last date without kids! I think it's so sweet you're doing that!

@labro - Don't beat yourself up about missing workouts.

@lavenderfields13 - I haven't heard about these underwear. I need to Google. FWIW, I don't get my period anymore (thank you Mirena). ETA: Congrats on paying off your car!

@caseface5 - Don't feel bad about being Debby Downer. That's what we are here for!

@cocobellaf - Glad you got extra massage time! That's awesome!

@cu97tiger - I'm happy  the work is going well at the house! I can't wait to see pics after it's done!

Good morning ladies! My week has been hectic, I can't believe it's Thursday already!

Tuesday night we met with our lawyer to discuss immigration stuff for FI. It was supposed to be a quick meeting but took all evening, so we didn't get home until 10 or so. I was cranky because I had run after work and didn't eat dinner until we got home. GR.

Last night we went to tour the apartment we applied for on Monday. Today we will find out if we got it. It was really nice!

Tonight I need to prep for FI's moms visit. She comes tomorrow for 10 days and it's the first time I'm meeting her. She's staying with us (reminder: our apartment is 400 sq ft), so this should be interesting. FI is working most of the weekend so she and I will be on our own, which scares me a little. I know she's very nice, I just get shy around strangers sometimes. Thankfully FI is off today so he is deep cleaning the apartment and taking care of some errands for me.

I had somewhat of a meltdown yesterday when I realized all the things I'm currently juggling: wedding planning, work, apartment hunting/applying/moving, responding to a job offer I got on Tuesday that I haven't had  time to even review yet, planning FIs mom's visit, starting to prepare for the immigration process for FI, and then my own personal errands/to-do items. For instance, my DD Perks card got hacked and someone has spent $80 at Dunkin Donuts in Georgia and California. So now I have to deal with customer service trying to get my money back. UGH.

I don't mean to sound like a brat because this is all positive, exciting stuff (except the DD Perks thing). It just feels like a lot right now.  But I'll make it through!

    - I'm thankful to have a FI who supports me when I need to vent and helps me out however he can

    - I'm thankful to have FINALLY chosen a photographer! I told myself I would have it done by the first week of August, but it has been such a hard decision for me that I kept pushing it back I feel excited about the girl we chose!'

    - I'm thankful to have parents that truly love FI. He forwarded me an email my dad sent him on Monday that brought tears to my eyes.

    - I'm thankful to have a FI that truly loves my parents and wants to spend time with them whenever possible!

ETA: @twodimes - Your H works in digital marketing? That's what I do! Is he at an agency?
  • Morning ladies!

So Matt ended up taking the mattress down last night! This weekend we're taking the other piece as it's super heavy.
Got a lot done but unfortunately not as much as I'd hoped. Oh well ... more to do tonight.

    I'm thankful for ....
    - a husband who although is working late, will stop and get me a chocolate milkshake on his way home

    - my coworkers who are super supportive.

    - my mum ... general sense.

    - the gas station for stocking campbell's clam chowder

    - pay cheques

    - friends
  • @lavenderfields13 - Congrats on paying off the car!!!

@jenjen047 - Where is your FI from?
  • @swazzle I think they're mostly meant to be worn with a tampon/pad but if you have any leaks they will soak it up and they're black so nothing shows! I've heard of some people with a light flow using them alone though- sounds risky and gross but it's intriguing!

@jenjen047 Good luck on meeting the FMIL! Hope you guys get along well since you'll be in such a tight space. Did you hear anything back on the apt you guys applied for?

  • @lavenderfields13 Yay!! Congrats on paying off your car and cc! I'm in the same boat with the never going away student loans.  Though I have one more cc to pay off as well.

  • So I just looked up the Thinx -- it seems like you're supposed to just wear them and nothing else.  I think it is great for places where women do not have access to feminine hygiene, but I have no idea if I would be ok with wearing that only.
    image
  • @cocobellaf - He's from Ireland.

@lavenderfields13 - We should hear back today. But I'm also calling another complex that's at one of the T stations to see if prices are comparable. The complex we toured last night is 1 mile from the T and they have a free shuttle that runs 6:30-8:30am and 5:30-7:30pm, but being at the T would be even better!

@peaseblossom55 - I'm sure it's incredibly difficult to stay positive during this time, but I think you're doing a wonderful job!
  • @Swazzle @lavenderfields13 I don't think I'd want the Thinx JUST to wear that only. I think I read a blog of some girl who tried it out and it wasn't even an issue....no leaks or feeling wet or anything. I dunno. I think I wouldn't feel comfortable with that. I think I'd only feel comfortable with a tampon plus that as backup or something....but eh. I dunno.

  • @lavenderfields13 - Congrats on paying off your car! That's fantastic!

@speakeasy14 - It's actually the same price for both. You can also choose more than 3 meals if you want (I've been doing 4 because I know I'll have healthy meal options at home and it saves me from having to come up with dinner options on my own), there's no limit on the meal combos you can choose from, and I like that there are low calorie/low carb meals. I can send you a referral for $30 off if you're interested in trying it out :)

@TwoDimes - Have you already signed up for StitchFix! I could have sent you my referral :(

@jenjen047 - Where is your FI from?
