Terrific Tuesday!

Congratulations to @southernpeach89 on bringing such a beautiful baby into this world! And congrats to Auntie @labro who I know will be the best auntie around!

**********

Last night, I kicked ass in the gym (or really, the class kicked my ass and I am hurtin' today!) then went home and H and I cooked dinner together. It was seriously DELICIOUS! Then I talked to my mom for about an hour and watched last week's Scream Queens premiere -- which I LOVED.

Tonight, I'm going to do some cardio at the gym then home to cook and eat dinner (HC Neapolitan Pizza Margherita with Fresh Mozzarella, Basil, and Balsamic Arugula), shower, and if there's time, I'll try to watch something from the DVR. I am just SO excited to have pizza for dinner tonight, I can't even.

  • @swazzle - Keep it up!! You're doing great :)

    @southernpeach89 - Congrats on baby Callie... she's beautiful! And congrats to Aunt @labro!!

    Last night, DH made HC sriracha chicken w/ veggies. It was yum. I left work late (as is the norm these days), so by the time I ran one errand and ate dinner, it was 8p. This morning I met one of my gfs for a 3 mile run.

    Tonight we're making BA Kale something-or-other. I am going to a jewelry party where I won't buy any jewelry but will get to catch up with a couple friends. I feel blah and stressed out about work.

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Have we moved over here?  C&P:

    Today is full of meetings.  Not excited about that.

    I'm a little worried about Baxter today.  He has been licking his paws a lot and they are red.  I think it's because he gets bit when he hangs out in the backyard.  I keep washing his paws but he still licks them.  This weekend, I noticed his belly had red splotches on it, and he had one spot on his penis.  I checked him this morning, and his belly had more red splotches and looked worse everywhere.  UGH.  I gave him a Benadryl and I'm calling the vet today.  I'll stop and pick up some calming dog shampoo, too.  I feel so bad for him!  He seems to be fine except for the licking but I am still a little worried.  I need to ask the vet if there's a cream I can rub on his skin to help with the itching.

    My legs are so tight from running more than I'm used to.  I was going to do PiYo tonight, but I think I need to find some stretching or yoga instead.  Any suggestions?

    @cu97tiger - I hate it that work is stressing you out!

    There have been big rumors at my H's company that today they are laying a lot of people off.  Already some of the VPs got laid off yesterday.  He works for a big oil and natural gas company.  We are prepared if he gets laid off, but it's still stresssssssful.
  • I can't wait to see pics of baby Callie!!

    Yesterday after work I went home, put on my pjs and then had to change back since I went to dinner with H and his friend. Then they left to go to a concert and I headed home to read and get ready for bed.

    I got a call from the realtor during lunch yesterday that the appraisal is on Weds so tonight I'll be cleaning the whole house :(  While I had him on the phone I asked if he could give our contact info to the new buyer so we can talk to him. He gave me the buyer's broker's info so I called him. He said he'd talk to the buyer and get back to me. He thinks he'll rent to us for a little bit cheaper than the other floors. I had a bad dream last night that it just wasn't going to work out but I know it's my nerves. Now we need to save, save, save so we can afford a down payment in a year. I figured out how much we need to save per month to get to the low end of my goal so now it's time to put that plan into action.

  • @cocobellaF I hope Baxter is OK. It's so upsetting seeing them like that because they can't talk to you to tell you what's wrong. I get so stressed every time I think there's something wrong with my cat.
    Fingers crossed for your husband's job!

  • Good Morning! Happy Tuesday!
    @Swazzle that pizza sounds delicious!
    @LaBro congrats again Auntie and @SouthernPeach89. Baby Callie is beautiful!
    @cu97tiger What kind of jewelry?
    @CocoBellaF hope the vet can help with Baxter!

    I'm hoping today goes better than yesterday for BF. He wears contacts and ordered some from 1-800-Contacts about 3 weeks ago. They were mailed to our house and he tracked the shipping but it eventually said forwarded by USPS and then nothing. It said they were delivered to our house on September 17th but then forwarded. I went to the post office that Friday and asked about it. They checked and there isn't a forward on our address and there wasn't anything there. They took down out info and said they would call.

    Last Friday BF still didn't hear from them so he went to the PO. They said they couldn't help and he should call in an hour to talk to the Post Master. He called in an hour and the guy was gone for the day. They told him he needs to wait until Monday. So now his contacts are three weeks overdue and starting to bother him, yet no one can tell us where they got forwarded to.

    We both talked to the Post Master yesterday and he said he would call today with more info. In the meantime BF tried three different eye places and Walmart to no avail. He has an appt today with his normal eye doctor, and hopefully they can give him a sample pair to hold him over for the wedding this weekend or else we are in for a miserable trip.

  • @caseface5 That's really awful. The Post Office is the worst with customer service, although I've learned that they can be very different between different offices. What a pain! I hope he gets his contacts soon.

    @minskat30 I'm seriously lol'ing over a water bed for a dog. Won't his claws puncture it? I hope it helps him sleep better and get up a little bit easier too!

    @lavenderfields13 Fingers crossed that this new buyer works out for you guys!!! I really hope you're able to stay in there at a reasonable rent!

  • @labro - I know that is H's fear too but its really sturdy material apparently and has great reviews on Amazon (and no leakage reviews other than with puppies who chew).  I'm in deep shit if it breaks through according to H.  What can I say, I'll do anything for my furry baby.  ;)  He's only 5 1/2 but he's showing it so anything that makes his life easier I'll do.
  • @lavenderfields13 I hope things work out with the new buyer and that you guys get some concrete answers soon!

    @Speakeasy14 I love that color!

    @minskat30 He does has glasses but they are old and falling apart. He only wears them to bed and he hates them. He said last night there was no way he was wearing them. I hope the water bed works for Raj! That's so funny they make doggy waterbeds.

    @LaBro They are terrible with customer service! BF was mad that when he called and asked for the Post Master and they said he left, the guy didn't bother to ask if he could help in any way. That really pushed him over the edge.

  • Yesterday was Day 1 of month end so I was working non-stop and was wondering about baby Callie. @labro & @southernpeach89 Congrats!!!! I haven't seen pics yet but I'm sure she is perfect and stunning! Hope you have a speedy recovery.

    @cocobellaf Poor Baxter, hope it gets better

    @lavenderfields13 hope you get to talk to the new owner and get a price soon!

    @speakeasy14 Great color!!

    @caseface5 you prob posted this yesterday and I missed it, but how was the wedding?

    @swazzle I want that pizza in my mouth. The cruise had 24 hour pizza and it was this really thin crust, like brick oven tasting and it was heavenly. Looks like you had fun in Salem, were those tattoos planned in advance or spur of the moment?

    Um not too much going on over here. The fair on Sunday was awesome, had fried pickles, fried oreos, a lobster roll, bought some authentic Vermont Cheddar that I can't wait to eat on triscuits. Slowly getting rid of the boxes from moving, putting stuff away, giving stuff away.

    I think I'm going to stop after work and buy an ovulation prediction kit. I have been temping but it's always a few days off each month so I'd just like something a little more accurate as I'm antsy to get the ball rolling.

  • @peaseblossom55 - I'm sorry about the photos.  I think the necklace sounds lovely though.  AW it when it comes in if you want to share.  What are you reading now that you aren't studying?
  • @jenna8984 - I use Wondfo OPKs.  They help SO MUCH with tracking.  I tried the Clearblue (normal and digital) but they were so expensive.
  • Morning!

    @labro CONGRATS AUNTIE AND CONGRATS MOMMA @southernpeach89 I can't wait for pics!!

    @cocobellaf Poor baxter :( I would lose my mind waiting to get to the vet to find out whats wrong.

    @minskat30 I would not survive without coffee at alllllllll so props to you lol

    Yesterday I felt miserable all day and practically begged to go home early so I could just rest but I didn't go early. I went home and completed my late assignment, emailed it to my professor and I'm not sure if I'll get credit or not because she has been radio silent, so that's gonna go on her student survey when it rolls around. I don't usually do them but I just feel like if a student emails you you could at least shoot a few words back, it's so unhelpful and I should be able to reach out to my professors if something comes up. It's an online program so it's not like I sit in a classroom.

    I am working a stupidly long shift today that is cutting into my time with BF, so that's annoying. I really want to go part time. My best friend keeps texting me all these awesome things that are happening to her and the only reason I'm not on the same trajectory is because I have to work full time to support myself and she didn't because her BF supported her while she was in school. Now, she has the time to take advantage of all these opportunities that are coming up and I'm making NO progress. It is SO VERY FRUSTRATING. And I want to be happy and supportive for my friend but the jealousy and competitiveness is rearing its ugly head :(
  • @Peaseblossom55 Sorry to hear about the pictures but the necklace sounds nice.

    @Jenna8984 We leave Thursday and the wedding is Monday. I'm jealous that you got fried oreos. We will be missing the fair this year and it makes me sad!!

    @jenna8984 - The clearblue ovulation kit (blinky smiley for high estrogen days/solid smile for peak fertility) was really helpful for me though really expensive every month.  Once I got a hang of it, the little cheapo strips (like @cocobellaf mentions) were really easy to read too.  Just an idea but maybe try both simultaneously like I did so I knew how to read a "positive" on the cheapo strips.  Fair warning though, you can peak multiple times on ovulation kits without ovulating.  One cycle it threw me wayyyy off as I peaked several times before I actually ovulated.  After that, I stopped testing and temping...its just easier, and less expensive, for me (and more fun for us) to commit to sex every other day until AF comes...lol.  Just throwing that suggestion out there.  ;)

    ETA - Clarity.
  • @cu97tiger - I aspire to have a kick ass body like youuuuuuuuuuuu!

    @CocoBellaF - Fingers crossed everything's ok with your H's job.

    @lavenderfields13 - I hope it works out with the new owner and you hear back ASAP.

    @speakeasy14 - I love that color! Gorgeous!

    @caseface5 - I would call 1800Contacts since they're the ones that shipped it and it's obviously lost.

    @minskat30 - Awwwww a water bed for Rajah! That's too cute. How long until your trip?!

    @Peaseblossom55 - That sounds like such a nice necklace!

    @jenna8984 - Were you on Norwegian? When H and I went on a cruise, the 24/7 pizza and the one restaurant that served wings were our favorites!

    @untouchablets - That's so frustrating about your professor. Is there a number you could try to call?

    Thanks everyone, I love the color too! It is such a pretty, yet neutral blue.

    @minskat30 the color is Behr Ozone

    @untouchablets that is frustrating, but honestly you have more pride when you earn something yourself.  I don't think I would appreciate my education if someone else had paid for it.  I worked full time and part time while going to school full time; it sucks, but I think it is 100% worth it in the end. -- side note referring to having a significant other support me while I went to school

  • @swazzle - 5 week for H and 6 weeks for me!!!  I'm bummed we aren't flying together (especially since a flight that long stresses me out) but at least we fly back together.  We planned a short layover in Amsterdam both ways too so we could get a little shut eye (3-4 hours but its something).
  • @Swazzle - Way to go at your ass gym kicking!  It's the good kind of sore.

    @labro - Thanks for keeping us updated on @southernpeach89 and baby Callie.  Being an aunt is one of the best parts of my life, and I wish the same for you.  It's a kind of love I didn't actually know existed until the first time I held my nephew.

    @CocoBellaF - Since we moved out here, Smudge has been having a lot more problems with itching.  I don't now what it is, but she's got a vet appointment on Thursday.  I hope Baxter gets to feeling better!

    Today I'm locked in my office having a grading marathon because I'm behind and need to get these exams handed back ASAP.  I'm bribing myself to get them done with the promise of Starbucks.  I also have a book group meeting with some other faculty this afternoon.  I'm trying to get to know people, but it's hard, and so I joined one of the book groups on campus in the hopes of meeting some new people.  The book itself (Ian McEwan's The Children Act)  is pretty good, although we've only read the first chapter so far.  I also have a reception tonight for new faculty at my school and one of the other schools in town.  I don't really want to go to it, because I tend to want to do nothing after except go home and crash, but I'm going to...if for no other reason, because there's free food.

    Tonight will be grocery shopping and a Target and PetSmart run.  I know it sounds weird, but I relish going to Target...where I lived before the closest one was 45 minutes away, and now there's one right across from the school, and I never have to go to Walmart again!

    OK.  Grading.  Starbucks.  I can do this.

    @TwoDimes - I was a bad Packers fan yesterday and didn't watch.  We got home late and by then I just ate, mediated and went to bed.  Sad, I know.

  • @minskat30 I am reading Carved in Darkness.  I am almost done with it! I hope to be done tonight but I doubt.

  • @peaseblossom55 - I'm looking for more book reads...that looks good!
  • @cocobellaf @minskat30 Thanks for the suggestions!!

    @swazzle no it was Carnival but surprisingly great food

    @caseface5 oh I thought t was last weekend lol, have fun!

    @twodimes Pats are 3-0 as well :)

    @peaseblossom55 Sorry the pics weren't what you expected. Can't wait to see the necklace when you get it, sounds beautiful

    Some professors provide a phone number with office hours listed, but she just says email her with any questions and she'll respond within 24 hours. Apparently that is not the case though lol. It's not a huge deal, late assignments are a toss-up, I've been able to get credit on some and not others in the past, but it would just be nice to get an email back.

    Thanks for this! My life would definitely be easier if I had someone supporting me,but I feel good about myself and value my independence in this regard, unfortunately, I also kinda feel held back since I can't just jump and put everything I have into amazing opportunities since those don't usually pay the rent at first lol
