Randomness

Re: Randomness

  • I just wrapped a few more of DH's presents.  I didn't get him anything "big" this year like other years, I have to say he should be happy.  So far there are  12 gifts wrapped with 2 more on their way.     I'm sure I will buy a few more random things if I see a good deal.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

  • Goodness gracious, I'm sorry to hear of your struggles.
But I'll also add that one time I had random lower back pain for months. I tried a Chiro first and it helped alleviate the pain temporarily, but then I went to my physical therapist when the pain returned. 6 weeks of 2x/week appointments and no issues ever since!
What I like about PT is that they understand how everything in your body is connected. My lower back pain was due to tightness in my glutes. The tightness pulled on my back muscles and spine. So by working out my glutes, my back pain went away. So logical, and yet other doctors don't get it.
Eh, that's life.  I figure everyone has some sort of struggles in life, these are mine.  And having back issues (even if they are significant ones) is an easier struggle than a lot of people have to handle in life.

I will say that not all PT's are created equal either though... and I'm sure there are probably some good, reputable chiropractors out there, too. I had seen 3-4 different PT's over the years that did very little to help.  But, all of them took the approach that back pain just requires exercising the abs and core muscles. That didn't solve my problem.  My last PT took a whole body approach.  My low back pain was all caused tight hip flexors and glutes.  My upper back pain was all caused by super tight knotted muscles, due to the scoliosis, that we were able to fix with regular massage and stretching. But, much of my back pain wasn't actually caused by my back.  Finding a good PT that pays attention to all the body connections is critical.

  • As a physiotherapist (though I work in a hospital, not private), I love all the physio love!!

Good to hear many have had good success.

I will definitely agree with @princessleia22 Just like with every profession, there are good and bad out there. I also recommend someone who looks at the whole body as well as physios who practice active treatment (sticking you on a machine every single appointment is not going to fix your problem).

    My randomness...
I was waiting for DH to come home so we could eat. An hour passes beyond his usual home time, and I'm getting pretty hangry... get a text talking about how his work dinner has started late. A work dinner I thought he told me was tomorrow night. So I quickly warmed up dinner and chowed down.... yum!

My step-grandfather went to chiropractors, exclusively, for years.  One day, he was getting an "adjustment" and his pelvis broke.  He had undiagnosed advanced cancer.  An MD would have spotted it years earlier.  He died a short time later.
Chiropractors are not the same as MDs or even DOs.  It is OK to see them, but you should see other, more qualified physicians first!  In many states, they only require a basic four year degree from colleges that teach only chiropractic medicine.
In my town, there are chiropractors that promote giving adjustments to infants!

  • My vacuum cleaner that we got as a wedding gift stopped working about a month ago and we've been trying to survive on the old one while I hunted for the receipt. Well I finally found it and went to BB&B to ask what I needed to do. They told me to bring it in and exchange it.

Well, somehow I managed to lose the receipt in the two days between asking questions and taking the vacuum in. Luckily, the person who bought it got it off of our registry and they could look it up that way.

They had some crazy good sales going on so I ended up being able to get the higher end model of Shark than what I originally had. I was so excited to get home and vacuum my house.

  • @emmaaa isn't it crazy how thrilling something like vacuuming can be? When I got a new shark I was the same way. "Oooo look at all that DUST it got!"

My randomness: I friggin' love online Christmas shopping. This week me, my mom, and my sister all exchanged Amazon Wish Lists. With a couple clicks, in 5 minutes I had purchased exactly what they each wanted. (My dad will be harder to buy for as he just wants shirts. So I have to actually choose store, brand, etc. Le sigh.)

I also have only two more weeks to work this year, as I have the two weeks at the end of the month off. It is SO hard to focus! Performance review was already turned in, so many people are scrambling to use up their PTO so not a lot of people are even around, which slows down workflow on what you do want to work on.... yawn.

Not sure what kind of shirts he wants, but DH and the GM of the club both love LL Bean shirts.       :)
