Re: Unpopular Opinions

  • I do the car thing, but mostly to say if it's the Jeep or the Dodge.

I love my black 2016 Dodge Charger R/T.  She's gorgeous.  My poor little Pontiac Firebird, my very first car, had 427,632 miles and the transmission was going to hell. So I sent her to a noble end at the scrap yard vs dying on the side of the road.
  • I completely forgot about this one:

Unpopular opinion: I don't like cheese pizza, and I get irritated when someone orders just a "cheese pizza".  It's bread, sauce and cheese.  I need at least ONE topping, or else it's a waste of money. I can make bread, sauce and cheese at home.

LOL - My DH is the opposite.   He will eat pizza with toppings, but for the most case it's just plain cheese.

His first cooking job was a pizza place.   They sold more plain pizzas then anything else.  Might be an east coast thing?  I find other places in the country (especially the farther west you go) plain pizza wasn't as popular as on the east coast.*

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Haha, Jenna, I love that gif!

I don't know what my problem is, but he just doesn't do it for me.  I rarely tell anyone I know because of the extreme reaction I get.  If you want to know, Kyle Chandler is my celebrity crush!

@Moppet82, he is mine, too! I am madly in love with him. Even though I'd seen him before, I think the day I fell madly in love with him was when he played the bomb squad guy in Grey's Anatomy. WHY DID HE HAVE TO DIE!?!?!?
OMG--yes!!! I didn't care for that show, but I did watch that episode and fell for him right then and there!!

This.   I've had the "I can do this" version of bread sauce and cheese and let me tell you - it ain't always pretty.   It's about the perfect marriage of the right ingredients working together in harmony to create one excellent flavor combination.

Don't get me wrong - I love toppings, multiple cheeses and unique flavor combinations.   The clams casino pizza at Modern in New Haven makes me salivate thinking about it.   But a pizza *is* bread, sauce and cheese and you need to get that right before you even think of putting anything else near it.    Sometimes the best things are just simple.    I can eat an ice cream sundae but sometimes I want a simple scoop.   And both are OK.
It's an east coast thing. Every now and then, I crave plain cheese pizza. It's a quality thing, I think. Good crust (is not just bread or God forbid, biscuit dough), Italian gravy (not canned sauce), fresh mozzarella and really good olive oil and seasonings, baked until the cheese bubbles and starts to brown. Each pizzeria, out here, has it's own style. What I hate - chain pizza places, like Pizza Hut, Dominoes, Papa Anyone etc.... What I love, my local pizza place makes moussaka pizza and @banana468 Willington Pizza's red potato pizza.

  • @MairePoppy, I haven't had that since 2002 when I was a senior at UCONN!

I'm a big New Haven style fan but I did love Willington pizza.   It was a bit out of the way but well worth it.

    Stuck in a box...

Midwest here and I'm all about the plain cheese.  Can't get enough.
  • I never thought about cheese pizza being an east coast (particularly north east, I think) thing until someone from California pointed it out. I agree the PP's that it's a quality thing.

  • I live in the Midwest and worked at a pizza place for a few years. Cheese was our most popular pizza.

  • H calls his truck "THE dually".  It's never just "my truck".  It's "THE dually".  His dad does the same thing, but he at least has multiple trucks for his business so I can see the need to differentiate.  We only have one truck.
---boxes Unpopular opinion: I hate trucks with duallies. I think they make the truck look ugly, and they also suck for driving in snow. Also, what I thought was an unpopular opinion but maybe not so much, H and I are planning to start our family later this year, and I am so looking forward to being a stay-at-home mom. I enjoy my job, but I'm very much looking forward to taking care of a baby, have a garden, maybe raise some animals (chickens or ducks possibly) and have more time to clean, cook, sew, put up food and just keep up our house.
I'm not that into this truck either.  It looks fat.  But, we pull a camper with it so it's good for that.  I've never driven it either, I preferred his F-150.  This new one just scares me.

And, jealous of your upcoming new life!
