Tuesday

Good morning, people! How goes it?

I had a Devils game last night (we lost) and I felt like I was getting sick while I was out but woke up feeling mostly ok today. When I got home from the game I finally put the heated mattress pad that I got for Christmas on my bed which was GLORIOUS. It was negative degrees last night so I reeeeeally needed it!

I've been binge watching OITNB since Friday and only have 4 episodes left in season 2. Then I need to watch last night's The Bachelor!

Today = work, back to the gym, shower, cook, eat, lounge, bed. My life is totally exciting!

Re: Tuesday

  • Hi! I missed yesterday's thread since it's month end/ year end here so I'm pretty slammed this week. My new years was same as usual, was asleep by 10pm haha.

Not much going on here, some break-ups of good friends happening which always sucks. My parents are still on their Christmas Australia cruise. A friend loaned me a massive tote of maternity clothes so that's freaking awesome that I won't have to buy many/any.

  • @swazzle - Heated mattress pad sounds glorious.  Our house is freezing lately.  I watched pieces of The Bachelor last night and it was good entertainment as always.  What are you cooking tonight?

Today I have to go to the gym.  Despite my post yesterday, I didn't go.  We ended up having to do more construction crap after work so I had no time.  H is working today and not picking me up until 7 pm so I have no excuse tonight. I was coughing pretty badly last night though so that makes me a little nervous...I'm pretty sure there was some crap other than dust in all that bathroom demo stuff.  We had a cleaner come yesterday which helped a lot but obviously it isn't a perfect solution.  Sigh.  That said, its either do the demo now or when baby gets here and the latter is not an option.

After work and working out, I think I'm just going to grab a microwave meal or a salad from a salad place nearby.  I have no energy to cook and did not sleep well last night.

  • @minskat30 Maybe this warrants a trip to Target or something for some sort of air purifier machine. It'll help A LOT!

@jenna8984 Woo for free maternity clothes! Hopefully most or all of them work for you and you won't have to do much maternity shopping (other than maybe a cute bathing suit or summer dress or something because shopping IS fun).

@swazzle There are some weirdos on The Bachelor this season lol.

@labro I had no idea you started on a baby blanket....I want to see it!! You should keep it for your future children as a special gift.

@jenna8984 Maternity clothes are stupid expensive. I hated having to buy only just a few outfits because I knew I wouldn't wear them as much. Luckily this hopefully won't be our only baby so they will come into use in the future but still that's great your friend gave you some!

@minskat30 Go on ahead and buy a humidifier...I promise it helps with your stuffiness or colds and if the baby catches a cold, it's a great method to help give them some relief since they can't take cold meds.

Callie was up every hour last night so I'm seriously dragging today. After work I need to look at my 401k to see if I need to make any changes based on how everything did last year. Then I'll go home and do some laundry and cleaning while I have the time. Then I may go to CrossFit later on depending on how Callie is doing since she did not sleep well.

@southernpeach89 I started on it from like....seriously 2 or 3 years ago, got not quite half way done and got busy with lyfe. I hope Callie quits it fast with this sleep regression crap!!! She just doesn't understand how wonderful sleep is yet.

@labro - I like that idea.  At the very least, H and I are changing the furnace filter tonight to see if that help.  I didn't know you knit @labro!  I must have missed that.  How long have you been doing it?  What a great skill.  I'm bummed I never learned...my grandmother loved to knit and crochet.  I remember she sat on a crochet needle one time...hard..went right through her butt (I'm not kidding...she went to the ER).  All that blood freaked me out.  She made the nicest stuff though.  I still have a large blanket she made me.

@jenna8984 - Free maternity clothes are awesome.  I have none yet...other than a Belly Band for my pants.  I wear a LOT of dresses and several are empire waste so I'm hoping I can get by on those for a while.

@southernpeach89 - How was your first day back?
  • @labro - You can send me the baby blanket when it's finished. I DID adopt a kitten baby last year, you know.

@jenna8984 - Nice job with the maternity clothes haul!

@minskat30 - Tonight's dinner is either coconut-crusted chicken fingers with garlic green beans and spiced sweet potato fries OR steak au poivre with cheesy hasselbeck potatoes, creamed kale, and shallot-peppercorn sauce.

@southernpeach89 - Aww I'm sorry Callie didn't sleep well last night. I hope tonight is better!

    Morning!

Yesterday was basically uneventful, I worked and then went home to be lazy for an hour and then I went to watch BF's fencing team crush their opponent at their meet last night :)

Today I am getting back to my meal planning! Except I forgot to transfer my meats from freezer to fridge last night to thaw so I might not get to cook those until much later today. I'm gonna make tilapia and figure out something to do with this ground chicken, so if you have suggestions I'm open to them!

Besides that, I'm gonna freeze to death walking some dogs today and make some note cards to follow my dog training class curriculum for each level. I got nervous when teaching my class because I had to ditch the curriculum (and my notes!) so I want to start memorizing it. As a side note, I was evaluated during that class by the trainer I've been working with and was told I was "too monotone" so I don't know how to fix that lol.
  • @minskat30 It was rough...I probably got choked up a few times throughout the day. It's just so hard being with her for 3 months and then having to let someone else take care of her. It will probably take me a while to get used to it. I just feel like I'm missing everything and then when I pick her up, she is just tired and not in the mood to play, so I just snuggle her the rest of the night but I still miss our routine  :(
  • @Swazzle Omg send me that dinner please!!!

@minskat30 I only know how to crochet and I'm not especially good at it either. I actually learned from some friends in college. They tried to teach me to knit....but I could never get the hang of it. That story about your grandma though....OMG!!!!

re: clothes @southernpeach89 got by on a belly band for forever and then she basically wore dresses 24/7 those last few months of pregnancy.

  • Dresses were my saving grace during pregnancy. I couldn't fit into much else lol.

@minskat30 yea most of my shirts are really flowy to begin with just because it's the style I like so I should be able to wear my normal clothes for quite some time too! Helps a lot that my work is casual and I can wear jeans. Sorry about the demo and dust and coughing, hope it gets better soon.

@southernpeach89 Aw poor girl, you and Callie must be exhausted. It's hard now but at least you have that light at the end of the tunnel where you can potentially quit working in a year or 2 after your next kid. I am the breadwinner so unfortunately I'll never have that option.

@swazzle oh man the coconut chicken sounds amazing.

If anyone likes tuna noodle casserole I made THIS one last night- it's healthy made with greek yogurt and skim milk and it came out super delicious!

    ETA link didn't link-

  • Morning ladies

    @jenna8984 yay free clothes!

@minskat30 I vote mid-day nap. You're creating another human, I feel this should be allowed.

@southernpeach89 poor Callie and mama :( Hope she gets sleep tonight!

@speakeasy14 I never got a chance to read "Gone Girl but I saw the movie, maybe it's because you're seeing her do these things as oppose to reading it? I thought it was pretty good, but really intense

I swear, I have been fighting this cold for a bit now and it's decided to knock me out for a few days. Woke up yesterday with a sore throat and a little stuffy, got worse and worse. Now today I'm just so done and it's not even 10am. Down side? I have a dentist appt tonight. Already told Matt I'm basically going to eat some pasta {only thing I can eat after freezing} and going to bed. My body just wants sleep.
Alas, I am at work. Why? Because in general sense there's only 3 people in the office. This week we're down to 2, so that's not really an option. Nap at my desk today!
  • @southernpeach89 - Huge hugs.  I would say it will get better but I'm pretty certain being away from Callie will always suck.  I'm sorry.  At least you know she is in good hands and you guys have a game plan for you staying at home after 16 months. Doesn't make it any easier though right now I'm sure. I'm so glad you got by on dresses and a belly band like @labro mentioned...I hate buying new clothes, especially if I'm not going to use them much so I'm going to avoid purchasing maternity clothes for as long as possible.
  • @Swazzle I would LOVE a heated mattress pad.. but BF sleeps hot as it is so it would never fly. He'd overheat!

@labro I think you should AW the squares when you get them all together.

@southernpeach89 Glad to hear you made it through yesterday but not so glad it was tough. I can't imagine and I'm not looking forward to that whenever the day comes.

@jenna8984 Yay for a whole bucket of clothes!

@minskat30 Hopefully it's nothing serious hiding in the bathroom! I agree on investing in an air purifier.

@untouchablets Good luck with meal planning. I plan to do the same tonight.

It's cold here today. Really cold. Last night I went home and had every intention on heading out to the grocery store to get some healthy options, however it was snowing and the roads were shit so I decided against it. Instead, I cleaned up around the house and then colored while watching Criminal Minds.

Tonight when I get out of work, I have to run to Michaels and grab some ribbon and some scrapbooking paper, then stop at CVS to print some pictures and the dollar store to grab frames. We have our cheer banquet this Thursday so I want to make little frames for the girls as a gift and I am trying to make them as affordable as possible, so I hope I can get a little crafty with the frames.
    friends tv show funy
  • @labro - I cordially invite you to casa de swazzle for dinner <3

@jenna8984 - I like tuna. And I like pasta. But I can't for the life of me get on board with tuna casserole. It skeeves me out for some reason!

@minskat30 - Gurrrrrrrl. That dinner sounds incredible!

@caseface5 - The one we got has dual sides. So H can turn his side off after it preheats but I can keep mine on low all night.

  • So I have a new guy on the team, he keeps popping by asking questions so it's been a bit hard to knot.  Also I'm just in a bad mood.  At least the plans for IVF are under way.  I feel so overwhelmed and sad and angry.

It all of a sudden became winter here and this does not make me happy.  I have therapy after work which I think will help me get through what I'm feeling right now.  Plus H is home tonight and I'm back to being clingy again so I just want to snuggle with him and watch a movie.

    Anniversary

  • @labro, sewing together is way more work than I'm willing to go through for a finished piece - kudos.

@swazzle, heated mattress pads are gifts from above. I need mine on all night, so H doesn't even turn his side on and just leeches off my heat (the jerk).

    @peaseblossom55, huge hugs.

Last night I had a small salad with chicken, dried cranberries, walnuts, and a little goat cheese. Then H and I stayed up late watching Star Trek, so I'm behind this morning, but it's okay. I'll stay late to get the hours/work done.

Tonight H and I are going to work on my laptop. I have an Inspiron 1440 from 2010 that I upgraded to Windows 10 over the weekend. The laptop works better now because it's less resource-intensive, but the sound doesn't work anymore. The hope is to try some solutions H's coworkers gave him, and failing that, to replace my sound card module. I think that's got my graphics card on it, too. I also need to contact the company that sold me my RAM upgrade package because they shipped me two bad sets now. I just want my money back, no more faulty RAM. I know it's not the motherboard because I did a bunch of hardware tests.

So geeky evening of computer repair ahead. While it's doing stuff, I'm going to knit on the blanket - it's a corner-to-corner and I'm past the widest part, so it's all downhill from here.
  • @peaseblossom55 It's totally ok to feel sad and angry and clingy and whatever else right now. I hope you have a good session tonight and then you get to home and snuggle with your H!

  • @swazzle - I think you meant to tag @speakeasy14 (who's dinner DOES sound amazing).  Sadly my dinner does not.  Whaaa, whaaa.  That said, I did have ice cream for desert last night (mint chocolate chip AND caramel cluster).  ;)

@peaseblossom55 - You should snuggle and cry and be all of the emotions you need to be right now.  I am very glad you are going to therapy today.  You've been through so much lately I couldn't imagine holding up as well as you are without help.

@misskittydanger - I wish we had a nap room at work.  Sadly, no go.
  • @Peaseblossom55 huge hugs! Be clingy, do whatever makes you feel better <3

    @minskat30 boooo! lol
  • @Peaseblossom55 you deserve to go home and snuggle with your H for years straight. Sending you giant bear hugs and so many good thoughts your way.
  • @swazzle My best friend said the same thing, I texted her the recipe last night and she was like "Cold tuna sandwich- yes. Hot tuna- never." hahaha

    image

  • @Peaseblossom55 - All the hugs <3

@KeptInStitches - That whole computer part is like another language to me. Good luck getting it figured out though!

@minskat30 - You're right! I hope your mint chocolate chip ice cream was green as that's the only acceptable kind. Sorry about that @speakeasy14 ! Your dinner sounds amazing!

  • @swazzle - Ha!  I hate when I see non-green mint chocolate chip ice cream for sale.  Mine was definitely green.  ;)

@Swazzle @minskat30 For some reason, the white mint chocolate chip ice cream always tastes more minty to  me and I like it more. Please don't hate me!!!! I love ALL mint chocolate chip. It's my number one favorite ice cream of all time....but sometimes a girl just wants the white mint and not the green mint!
