@beachyone15 That whole thing is seriously so cute! I want to sign up but H would probably leave me. We both started maxxing out our 401ks this year and now he's stricter than ever about how we spend...at least until I get my car paid off.

@TwoDimes That's what I'm hoping, but we recently sat down and started making a savings plan for a house and paying off my loans. He's been extra tight with money ever since. Ideally we'd use the money for the European vacation we've been talking about for the past 5 years, but I guess I could settle for a quick trip elsewhere. :)

@jenna8984 Oh I doubt it will be anywhere near enough to pay off my student loans. But maybe he'll go halfsies on the windfall with me-- half for loans and half for a vacation. He's been really miserly lately with money after we sat down and made a savings plan, so we'll see. I don't fault him for it though because I know he's got good intentions-- he just wants us to be financially secure long-term.

  • @labro - I suppose it's more important to be responsible :)
I always want to get H's opinion on my SF box, but I never want to tell him how much the clothes cost! He's a $12-Kohl's-polo-one-in-every-color-b/c-they-fit-kind-of-guy.

  • @eilis1228 - H & I need to sit down and have a budget convo, and I'm afraid I'll have all my fun taken away!! Haha. But I also know it's the adult thing to do. BOOO. Hopefully he'll let you do SOMETHING fun with it, and not be 100% responsible, because there is zero fun in that!

@minskat30 LOL I know what you mean about inheritance being one of the few upsides to death. The only reason I'm a beneficiary is because my father passed away. The will states that the estate will be divided among my grandparents' 4 children, but if any of those children are deceased, then their children will receive their inheritance. My father's siblings are still alive, so none of my cousins will be receiving anything, just me and my brothers... so as awful as it sounds, my father's death benefited me.  :/

@GoldenPenguin Being an adult is no fun. That's pretty much exactly what happened to me after we had that conversation. We had two tentative vacations planned with my family this year, and he's mentioned possibly pulling out of those even though most of our costs would be covered. Waaaaaah! Adulting sucks. Hopefully your budget talk goes better than ours did!

  • I never saw Cats on Broadway always wanted to.  Group trip??

@alpacina come fly in for it! Don't know if this is your type of show actually....

  • @eilis1228 yea I know what you mean. I got a settlement for an accident I was in and before it came I was thinking of all the things to spend it on. Then once it came I was like nope can't do it. Took a tiny bit for my wedding and put the rest in savings. Having that peace of mind is so much better.

@misskittydanger woohoo! house hunting is a pain in the ass but it's still exciting!

  • @wink0erin  apparently there's stuff that viewers are catching and the police aren't, and possibly enough to re-open the case. I didn't read the whole article but I could link it to you if you want!
I hate those nightmares that seem so real! I had one like that and the whole next day I felt like it had actually happened still!
  • You guys. I'm SO GLAD we took Zoey to doggie day camp today. It's hailing like crazy right now.

@jenna8984 I wish financial peace of mind wasn't so boring lol. I keep telling H that we need to have some fun with our money since we can't take it with us when we die, but he points out that having a savings plan and paying off loans will lead to a nice life down the road.

  • @TwoDimes  I thought so! I love Aussie Sheppards lol

@jenna8984 yup. i already know we're gonna clash on some things but for the most part we're looking at same type of house

@minskat30 plus we don't want to be "house poor" or have no room in budget. Boo debt!

  • @MissKittyDanger I've read a few of the theory articles (evidence that was left out, etc). Btw, congrats on moving forward with home buying!

@minskat30 If you hate other legal shows you'd probably hate this one too. The bias is what drives me insane.

  • @minskat30 Have you seen Grinder? Rob Lowe (sexy) was the star of a lawyer show and when it's canceled he tries to be a real lawyer. It's fucking hilarious.

  • @MissKittyDanger Becoming "house poor" was my biggest fear when buying a house. I'm spending more than I was paying in rent, but I'm in a MUCH better area. I was living very comfortably in the apartment too, and it's not a big increase going from apt to house in my monthly payments (mortgage is less, but insurance/taxes bring it above what my rent was). I'll find out utility use difference soon enough. I had electric in my apartment and my house is gas, so I have no idea what to expect with those bills yet. Yay adulting.

Negative.  Only one I've seen recently is How to Get Away With Murder.  I like that one because... Viola Davis. Rob Lowe can be hit or miss with me but it might be worth checking out.
  • @AlPacina - It's cut-out paper pieces that you just pop out, a stamp, mini ink pad, and glue dots to put everything together. Basically everything you need.
Also, I would LOVE to go to a show in NY. The only one I've ever seen there was Aida (which was awesome, but then again I'm a huge fan of Elton and anything he does).

  • @AlPacina I totally think things were messed up, but I sadly assume it's like that in every case. What they did to the kid was just awful though. I feel more for the kid than Avery.

  • @wink0erin Eye to eye on the whole Making a Murderer thing.

I am seeing fucking red right now. (I am also cursing like a sailor today too) My boss sucks so much and is so inappropriate it's not even funny. We have an auditor in right now and My boss M says to auditor B "You look like you need to go on a vacation." B explains that he and his wife were going to Mexico but she is expecting and they were advised not to because of Zika.  B then goes on to say "Well congrats on the baby, you know I did notice that you are getting bigger and I have to say, your wife is going to lose the weight after the baby, but your not, so you shouldn't be eating for two."

    I. Can't. Fucking. Even.

He is SO inappropriate and we are a school, so we don't have HR that I can go to about it. This isn't the first time he has made comments like this (he especially pissed me off with gay comments over the summer.) I'm at a loss and I'm really hoping that on March 1st when the new Superintendent starts, that this fucker will be fired so fast.

Sorry to just lay that all out but I am ANGRY!

  • @AlPacina - What is this "Hard Orange Cream Soda" and why has it never been in my life before?  That sounds divine.  Also, congrats on 3 months of not smoking cigarettes!!!  The cigar probably hit you harder because of that but 3 months is a huge accomplishment!
  • @caseface5 I'm so sorry that's awful.

@alpacina yay 3 months.. Fine twist my arm I'll go see Hamilton too! ;-)

@speakeasy14 I hope you feel better, sorry the insertion didn't go well.  I lol'd at your walking around with your grandma coat after seeing cats how adorable.

  • @eilis1228 I live every day with "save now for money later". It IS true but goddamnit it's tough! Props to you guys for making the effort to save more and being responsible with windfalls. But don't forget to have a little fun with part of it too!

@wink0erin Gas is so so cheap right now so we're actually doing better cost wise on some utilities. Electricity was about the same as our apartment at first but it got WAY cheaper when we replaced our HVAC. The cost of the HVAC will pay for itself quickly with how much our electrical costs have gone down.
