@labro - I think we need more frequent FTs. H and I had a budget chat the other day and agreed to buckle down on our spending and then I went and spent a decent amount of money this weekend without discussing with him and I was in the dog house (can't blame him at all). I definitely need to get better with that. Fingers crossed for your H today!

AW alert - I forgot an update in my original post and baby girl just reminded me of it now while I'm eating breakfast...I am starting to feel little (or not so little) kicks now that I'm almost 22 weeks. Baby Minskat was really active yesterday and H felt her move for the first time too. He couldn't stop laughing at it. Ironically, I was so bummed at the baby shower on Saturday because a family member who is due literally a day or two before me was telling me how active her baby is. I've been sad not to feel anything (my placenta stupidly attached to the front of my uterus instead of the back like it normally does, thus blocking me from feeling movement). Little girl must be getting strong though because she has been kicking away for the last day.

Makes me so happy even though its really, really weird and more than a little jolting when it happens.

Wooo, my Monday meeting got cancelled so I can actually pop in before 11:30.

I think I finally thought of what to do for BF for v-day, I think I'm just going to do a colored pencil drawing of our couple power animal and frame it.

I had a good weekend, on Friday evening there was a surprise party for a friend that is moving away. BF and I weren't feeling much for a party so our plan was to have a couple beers and leave early. That didn't happen... we both ended up staying out and had a blast. This included our uncoordinated selves trying to ballroom dance to that new (I guess) Justin Bieber song, which is now stuck in my freakin head. GET IT OUT. At least we had fun. Also, there is a S'MORES BEER and I had 3. SOOOO goood.

Saturday morning I nursed a hangover for a little bit, which luckily went away quickly. I cleaned house and my Dad came over with some shelves for my basement. We sat and talked for a while. I ended up watching Netflix the rest of the evening.

Sunday I cleaned/organized and cooked some chili. Randomly, my ex messaged me on snapchat in response to a photo I posted. I didn't know he followed me on there. He didn't say much of anything but just seeing his name pop up made me super anxious and sick to my stomach. We broke up 4 years ago and it was so overly dramatic that I actually lived in fear for a while. Of course, everyone said I was overreacting, but whatever, I never want to see or hear from him again. Last I heard from him was when I first started dating BF, and ex kept trying to wiggle back into my life via social media. I 100% believe it's a manipulation move. Sometimes I wish the technology from Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was real.

This week shouldn't be too bad at work, thank God. Last week I was working super late every single day and it wore me the eff out. I should be able to take my lunch break AND leave on time each day.

@CocobellaF I am so jealous of your Chocolate Festival! We have a couple of those in my state, and one I went to was super lame and not worth the drive.
@caseface5 Window treatments are a bitch. I don't like the ones that came with my house but I also don't want to spend money on new ones just yet, so I'm dealing with them for now. The cost and labor is so much more than it seems it would be. Lvoe the color you went with!
@futuremrshistorian I feel ya on the isolation thing, I was getting that way and it was really bringing me down, so one day I finally decided "eff this" and started going out to do all the things even though I was alone. I ended up making a ton of new friends that way. I encourage everyone to at least try to get out and do something solo, it's not as bad as it seems!

@speakeasy14 The winery and brewery tour sound so fun! I hope to tour a brewery sometime soon.

@minskat30 Yay for feeling her!!! I love the kicks and pushes from within! It's so amazing! It's just going to get stronger and stronger and then she will kick your bladder and you will probably pee your pants.

Advice: Buy a waterproof mattress cover in case your water breaks overnight so you don't stain your mattress....I promise it's not just a trickle when that happens (if it happens), it's a huge gush of fluid and if you ever just pee yourself, that's always nice to have just in case.

@swazzle - Sorry you were in the dog house for spending...I'm known for being in the dog house for a similar reason rather often. You've seen H's insane budgets though, who can blame me right?

The kicking is awesome too...it feels like an alien inside me a little but it is so reassuring.

Thanks for the heads-up @southernpeach89 - I didn't even think about that! We have a mattress cover but it isn't water proof...I'll be investing in one now. I'm not looking forward to peeing myself. It hasn't happened yet but I know it is just a matter of time.

@minskat30 OMG YAY!!!!!!!! I was sooooooo obsessed with feeling Callie kick and I'm sure @southernpeach89 was so tired of me talking to her belly and feeling it. I can't even imagine how wonderful it must feel from the inside, especially when it first starts to happen (before the constant jazzercise part)!!

@helloliv We use a budget app called You Need a Budget (YNAB) but there's also Mint that's free. I wrote down our net pay, and then we have a list of categories for literally everything. We start with the big things first that you have to pay - mortgage, utilities, groceries, fuel, car loan. Some of those costs we know up front...like our mortgage or our cell phone plan, with fuel and some utilities we go based off the average so that during cheap months we're still saving extra when the expensive months hit. Once we've entered in monthly limits for those, we move on to stuff like personal spending (basically I have an amount each month that I can save or spend on whatever the fuck I want), clothing, pet supplies, etc., then what's leftover either goes to emergency savings, savings for house projects, vacation savings, etc.

@caseface5 Window treatments are the absolute worst. Anytime H and I have to get new curtains, we end up fighting. They're way too expensive, take way too long to install, and there's always one major thing wrong that requires a trip back to the store. UGH. Sorry you guys had a stressful and sick weekend. Hopefully this upcoming weekend is better!
@untouchablets That's great that you've got so many classes and clients! Way to go!
@futuremrshistorian That is so scary about your SIL! I'm glad she's ok! Also, it can be really tough to make new friends in a new town. *hugs* Are there any local hobby groups you could join? Maybe a local running group or something? I know that one thing @audrewuh did when she moved up here was to join a local quilting guild, and one of my best friends joined a cycling group after a big breakup a few years ago. Or is there something like a book club you could join through your university?

I have the Monday blues. This weekend was so beautiful and relaxing, and Monday is always the opposite.

On Friday we had some friends over that we hadn't seen since the wedding, and it was fun catching up with them. Our goddaughter is finally at an age where we can have conversations with her (and understand her when she talks), so I had a lot of fun talking to her and playing games with her on her Kindle. Zoey did OK with her... she was super timid and shy, but she would lick her and take treats from her. No growling or barking at least. We're going to do our best to get her used to children, even though we don't have a ton of access to children lol.

On Saturday we slept in, and then H and I had a lazy morning. Around 2pm we decided to walk a trail that went by our apartment. We thought it led to a dog park about a mile down the road, but apparently it circles it. After about 2 miles, we decided to turn back... so in total we accidentally walked 4 miles lol. Zoey loved every second of it and kept wanting to run, even afterwards. I would love some of her puppy energy for myself! Saturday night we went to dinner with my extended family, and then afterwards we packed a little.

On Sunday we drove to the dog park with Zoey, and she had a ton of fun. Afterwards we ran a bunch of errands, and then I did chores around the apartment.

Tonight I'm hanging out with @audrewuh and working on my quilt. I'm bring a bottle of wine, so it should be a fun night.

Also, I thought we were starting C25K this week, but when I brought it up yesterday to H, he was like, "Wait, no, I thought that was a while from now! I need running shoes and some workout clothes!" Men. Why would we commit to start a program and then put off starting it...? So, anyway, given the timing of it (we move next Thursday), we will likely start on Monday, the 15th. Boo. I will make him get shoes and stuff this weekend.

@helloliv Isn't the point of brunch that it's a late breakfast? 8:30 is way too early for that shit. I can't even function before 9am. There is a stupid law in my state that alcoholic beverages can't be purchased on Sundays before 1pm which pisses me off every time I brunch

@cu97tiger Holy cow, mixing up $400,000 and $4,000 is substantial. I really hope the new place you find is MUCH better!
@labro Yay for budgeting! I need to settle into a new one but it's going to be hard to do until I know how much my utilities cost regularly. It's driving me nuts right now not knowing.

@labro - Ha! I love it when H talks to my belly. He puts his ear up to it and tries to hear her too...I don't know what he is expecting to hear...she isn't talking in there clearly.

The weirdest feeling has been when she shifts positions/flips over in there ...it is like going too fast over a little hill where your stomach flips a bit. I'm really late to the "feeling movement" party based on what I hear from other moms but maybe she was cutting me a break since I'll be feeling this for the next 18 or so weeks at this point hopefully.

@eilis1228 - I'm glad Zoey did well with your goddaughter! Kids are frightening to puppies sometimes so it sounds like she was respectful and gave your goddaughter her space, which is great. Have fun quilting/drinking tonight with @audrewuh ! Also your H is hilarious...he needs a special outfit to start C25K? Shoes I get, but an outfit? lol

eta - I have a tagging problem this morning apparently.

@Swazzle YAY! Season 2 was such a great season, and I think you'll really enjoy season 3 as well. There's quite a bit more drama, but the story is so good! Also, SO JEALOUS of all your time off!

@minskat30 He only owns jeans, so he needs workout clothes. He has like one pair of basketball shorts and maybe 3 t-shirts. He never does anything physical lol. But yes, he's a nut.

@wink0erin - You're right...I should start just going out and doing things. As we get closer to summer, there will be even more things to do on the weekends (festivals, concerts, things like that), so hopefully I'll be able to work up the guts to go to those.

@eilis1228 - There is a weekend running group, but...they run at 6:30 on Saturday mornings, and I like to drink wine on Friday nights (which might be a lame excuse). They also do a 6-8 mile loop, which I haven't quite worked up to yet. I have joined both a church and a yoga studio, and I'm trying to make an effort to be more talkative with getting to know people. I'm hoping to join a choir at some point too, but it's hard right now, because both my church choir and the community choir rehearse on Tuesday nights, and I have class on Tuesday nights. So we'll just have to see. I've never been one to make friends quickly, so I'm not really surprised that I've been here 6 months and haven't managed to make a lot.

It would only happen to me if I was exercising or laughing lol. My water did break in the middle of the night though and luckily it happened while I was already using the bathroom so my mattress was saved. We bought a cover though just in case because for all I know it would have happened if I didn't get up to go to the bathroom.

@labro - Thanks for all the tips! I've used Mint before but I think I just got frustrated with it, mostly because I always go over budget even when I'm not trying. (Like, how is it possible I spend $40 to buy three things at CVS?!) It was really helpful seeing your categories. I know I'll definitely forget some, so that will be good. Budget is on the calendar for this week!

@wink0erin - YES! My friend asked us to brunch and we were like AWESOME! And then she emailed saying she wanted to go at 8:30 AM because they had plans later, and I didn't really want to be a jerk and say that it was too early once I'd already said yes. In my city the laws are like that, too, but not in the city we were in for breakfast. Everyone around me was enjoying lovely alcoholic beverages and I was so envious!

@minskat30 - Yay to feeling baby minskat!! I haven't felt anything yet, and TBH I am kind of glad. I know once it starts that it only gets bigger, so I just don't want to rush it. That may not make any sense, but it's my thought process right now.

We had another name discussion this weekend. I brought up a boy name that I really like, and H also really likes it. So I guess we'll see in a couple weeks if baby is a boy or girl and go from there!

@cu97tiger - I'm glad you are moving on to another clinic. Your experience at the old one sounds awful!

I have half a chocolate mouse at home and I wish I would have brought it with me to work.

@CocoBellaF - Yeah for productive name discussions! H and I have that tabled our name discussion for next weekend along with putting the crib together...we bought the crib and the stroller/car seat but not much else yet...my family said they want to do a baby shower for me but they said the same thing about a wedding shower and then it never happened so I want to make sure I have the "big" items. When are you guys going to register? Are you having a shower? I get where you are coming from in being ok with waiting for movement...I've only gotten anxious about it in the last few weeks since it seems like it happens for most people around week 19/20.

@minskat30 - I have no idea when we'll register. Sometime after our anatomy scan! We'll have a church shower and then his side of the family will probably do something. I have a stroller/car seat picked out, but for some reason I just can't push BUY. So weird!

@swazzle – How you even typed a comprehendible update on that small of an amount of sleep, I cannot imagine. But it all sounds amazing! I’ve heard his concerts are incredible, so I’m so happy you went!

@caseface5 – Every girl in my family is so Martha Stewart, and I’ve always been the tomboy. I know that there are simple things we could do in the house to make it look so much better, but I always get so nervous it’s going to look bad because of my lack of experience, haha. I can’t wait to see your paint/couch combo though!

@untouchablets and @TwoDimes – I’m so sad I don’t have cable now that these live musical performances are on! I think I can rent it as a DVD later though. I still want to see The Wiz too! Did you watch that one?

@futuremrshistorian – Honestly, when I moved here for work, I had a really hard time finding new friends. I actually started by going to events that my coworkers invited me to, since they often invited others as well, and managed to make some friends that way, but it’s not easy. Most of my friends here, I work with, and that’s kind of lame sometimes.

@minskat30 – We haven’t gotten a Raj update in a while. How is his leg doing?

@wink0erin – Oooo, I hope you’ll show us your art when you’re done!

@eilis1228 – OMG, you speak the truth. The ONE time we tried to buy curtains, we ended up in a fight at the store, haha. Now I’m scared for what it’s going to be like if we ever manage to get some home!

Hello ladies! I had an alright weekend. For the life of me I cannot remember what we did on Friday night, other than watching Ted 2. Liam Neeson in that movie has my all-time favorite cameo now. I had to watch the scene multiple times over the weekend just to laugh again. If anyone wants to see it, let me know and I'll set you up with a link to the clip.

On Saturday I did such an awesome thing! I fixed the vacuum! Seriously, it sounds lame, but typically I would just buy a new vacuum. I did the research and FIXED IT. Also found a disgusting amount of dog hair trapped in places it should not have been, and am 99% sure it's because BF keeps using it even after it is way too full. GRRRRR.

I also finished reading The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August and I thought it was awesome. I totally recommend it, if anyone doesn't know what to read next. I have now started Me Before You, and am pretty sure I'm going to cry at some point.

Sunday was also productive. My BF basically said "I want to go spend some money." so we did! We hit up a couple of stores and ended up getting a 55" TV at Best Buy (upgraded from 40"). Then we went back to the store where the couch we wanted is, and placed an order! My couch is coming in 3 weeks and I'm so ridiculously excited!

Thank you for asking! Raj is doing well! His recent check-up showed some stiffness and swelling in the surgical site but the vet thought that was normal and he was healing nicely (and also gave us fair warning that the other leg will go sometime soon so we keep an eye out for limping on it). For now though, Raj's walks are getting longer and longer so that is great news. He still favors the leg that didn't have surgery but only after exercise. I'm really proud of him and H...they've been working together on walks to rehabilitate. H has really taken up the charge of getting Raj back on his feet and "normal" this winter with me feeling crappy on and off.

I would also love to see Liam Neeson in Ted 2...share the link please? I think you are a bad-ass for fixing the vacuum. My inclination would have been to just buy a new one too, and I likely would have done it.
