Mondays suck
Good morning!
I am SO tired today but it was so worth it! Chicago was amazing and in case you weren't already sure, @audrewuh @minskat30 @speakeasy14 @TwoDimes @AlPacina @caseface5 and @500days are absolutely awesome!
On Friday, H picked me up from work early and dropped me off at the airport. I had a couple hours to kill so I had a few drinks and then was on my way! I met @caseface5 when I landed and we headed to our rental to meet everyone else! We spent the whole night talking and laughing and boozing.
Saturday, we all got up and sent @minskat30 to the store so we could put our secret plan into motion. We had a surprise baby shower for her!
Foods = salad with craisins, feta, walnuts and raspberry vinaigrette, egg bake with peppers, cheddar, and garlic chicken sausage, guac, pickle dip, and gluten free brownies and cupcakes:
We each brought a onesie for Baby Ani and used them to decorate the living room. Mine is the elephant wearing sunnies on the far left:
@minskat30was so surprised and she cried (twice!). Proof:
It says 'R is for Rajah'.
Then we made headbands for Ani. Here's mine:
Later that afternoon we headed out and did an Architecture Boat Tour which was a really cool way to see Chicago!

After that, we grabbed Chicago-style hotdogs (OMG SO GOOD) and walked to Millennium Park to see the Bean!
We took a ton of pictures in front of it but the ones on my phone aren't great so I'll let someone else post those.
We headed back to the house to relax for a little, went out for a delicious Italian dinner, and then headed home to play CAH and laugh our butts off.
Yesterday was sad because we all had to head home. I left around 10am and my flight was delayed a couple times but it was perfect for me to have a bloody mary, a couple mimosas, and grab some deep-dish pizza.
I got home, showered, and immediately napped for 2 hours. H and I caught up on Shameless last night and then I had a really hard time falling and staying asleep for some reason so I'm really dragging today!
I miss everyone so much and can't wait to plan another weekend away!

Re: Mondays suck
This weekend was busy. Friday DH and I were home together so we got a lot done around the house. We finally got my van repaired (with the AC) but now all of a sudden the left door in the back won't open. It's automatic and it keeps beeping as if something is in the way. So we will probably have to take it back again! UGH...
Saturday DH and I went over to a friends house that they just moved into to help them bring in all their stuff. Callie and I played while DH lifted all the furniture. It was nice to see them since it had been a few months.
Sunday Callie and I went to my parents house for dinner and to celebrate @labro 's H's 30th birthday. Callie showed everyone how she crawls and she also got a little taste of some ice cream. She really liked it haha.
DH is working tonight so no plans for tonight. I'm actually thinking about quitting CrossFit. I've been thinking about this for a while and it's not so much CrossFit as it is the box that I'm part of. There are just a couple bad apples there that have really been rubbing me the wrong way so I think I might just do my own thing from now on. I wouldn't want to join another box because we had a really good deal at the one we were currently at so back to the gym it is.
@southernpeach89 sounds like a fun weekend! I'm sorry about CrossFit... I hate when others ruin something good, what a bummer.
I had a really nice, relaxing weekend. Saturday I ran 8 miles in the morning, then video chatted with my best friend who lives in NYC. We used to gchat constantly at work but she got a new job recently and I've been so busy at mine that we don't chit chat as much as we used to. It was so nice to catch up and "have lunch" with her.
Saturday night H and I went out to dinner at the place I mentioned on Friday (cotton candy, tequila infused palate cleanser).. It was so, so good but you guys - there was a table of girls sitting next to us, and the girl who was sitting on the booth bench nearest to me caught her hair on fire!!!!!! It must have dipped into the candle on the table and before you know it H has his hand on his water glass and I'm reaching for her with my cloth napkin. Luckily she got it out and only got a bit singed but it was so scary! I'm deathly afraid of fire (mostly just my apartment catching on fire) so I was glad to know that my instincts would still be to try and save the person instead of running in the other direction
H and I are still in shock that that even happened.
Yesterday we ran a bunch of errands and got our favorite salads for lunch (by ours I mean my, H probably couldn't care less). Then I knitted for most of the afternoon and we watched some shows and then watched Spotlight last night... Excellent movie.
Tonight I have to run 5 miles.

My weekend was okay. I worked the whole weekend and actually my Saturday ended really shitty because right before I was going to leave someone asked me if I was pregnant. What a feeling! That night I had nightmares about food and woke up yesterday feeling really bad about myself. I am better today.
BF was in VA for a biiiiig fencing tournament from Thursday until Saturday night, which was also his birthday. He won third place in the tournament! He got back around 9 on Saturday, so we went out for a few drinks with his family which was nice because I didn't think I'd see him. Yesterday we went out for his official birthday dinner, and had cake and did presents at his house (I got him tickets to see Brad Paisley at his favorite concert venue, the Nikon at Jones Beach), and then we watched the American Idol series finale which was weird because I haven't watched since season 8 I think!
Today I have one class, then I am going to work out and after that I have a lot of laundry to do and some more spring cleaning I think. I only have one section of my house left to do so that should go quick.
@PamBeesly524 - Holy crap thank goodness you and your H had such quick reflexes! That's so scary and I bet it smelled terrible!

I should have gone right to bed/taken a nap when I got home but I was too tired and had to do a load of laundry so BF has clothes today. I also should have called out sick today to stay home and nap, but alas here I am at work, adulting.

@swazzle My work blocked the pics as usual but I saw some awesome ones on FB this weekend. So jealous I couldn't be there- it looked so, so fun and you guy are the absolute sweetest for doing that for Minsk & Ani!!!!
@southernpeach89 That's annoying about your van. and sucky about crossfit too. Are there other gyms near you that have it, like a new team you could join? Or you would go to the same place just not be in the team?

@untouchablets happy birthday to your H, cool that he got 3rd!! I watched the Idol finale too, I know they had everyone ever come back and sing but I bet you they'll do another big "reunion" show in a year or 2.
My weekend was good, really didn't do anything. My great nana's 104th bday party at the nursing home Friday was fun! City council came and gave her a key to the city! Was surprised my brother showed up too, haven't seen him since Christmas.
Saturday I cleaned the house, did some organizing in baby's room, and just relaxed, didn't even step outside. Sunday we went to our favorite summer clam shack for lunch then we decided to have some "me time" so H played video games from about 2-8 while I made banana muffins and watched my favorite Will & Grace dvds.
@PamBeesly524 That's crazy about hair girl! I would have freaked. I am also intrigued by this restaurant and you might have to PM me the name of it.

@jenna8984 - I brought a whopping...... ONE PAIR! I had to fit my bigger blacker box in my bag so that left little room for shoes

I think @swazzle covered the basics of the Chicago GTG. That said, I still cannot get over the generosity of @swazzle @caseface5 @500days @twodimes @audrewuh @speakeasy14 @alpacina @suzie211 - I literally had zero clue that they had a baby shower planned and @swazzle is correct that I cried...twice. It still makes me cry to think about the amount of love and kindness these ladies/women/princesses (ahem, @swazzle) put into celebrating me and Ani. I'm going to be forever grateful to them for this and hopefully be able to pay it forward to them in the future.

@everyone from the g2g I hope you are all recovering today and work isn't TOO busy!
Last week in Asheville was wonderful and we had the best time celebrating H's birthday! It was super cold and windy nearly the whole time we were there though so even though I packed a bunch of sandals and fun shoes I didn't get to wear any of them. On the plus side, we enjoyed some quality hot tub time and the cabin had a wood-fired stove that was literally the best! I'm seriously beered out though after all the drinking we did and I think I'm on the no-alcohol train for awhile so I can feel more normal again.

That is how I feel right now. I didn't get home till 3:30 this morning and haven't slept in 3 days. Because I'm crazy, I'm at work right now. On my second cup of coffee. It was all worth it because everything that has already been mentioned. Missing everyone already.

@labro too bad it was cold! But still sounds like a blast with the hot tub and fire and beer, and um not being at work! Oh yea, my family lives forever- the one who is 104's husband lived to 94, and all my grandparents are currently 84-88!
@caseface5 I know you were a little worried about meeting new people with your anxiety but it sounds like it wasn't a problem at all and you had the best time- yay!
This weekend was a pretty boring one for me. Mostly yardwork with H. This next weekend should be more fun though. It's my mom's birthday and I think mani/pedis are in order.
Here is our AMAZING wood-fired stove. I really want one of these.
And this is the second photo I took. We smoked a turkey on the last day we were there and it was fucking delicious! H and I made a turkey pot pie with some of the leftovers on Saturday and we're planning to make a shepherd's pie with turkey later in the week.
And this is Cinders when we got home Saturday afternoon. She was SO HAPPY to be back in her own yard. She loved NC though!
@untouchablets - People are dumb and rude and I'm sorry they were dumb and rude to you.
I had an "eh" weekend. Still trying to deal with some of this depression so I took it easy. Saturday I did get up and do kickboxing and go to yoga, so that was nice. Yesterday a friend and I were going to go sit on the beach and read, but it was a little chilly and she wasn't feeling super great, so we went to Mass and then to brunch instead.
I weighed in this morning and I'm down another pound! 7 pounds total (or, 30 sticks of butter).
I just have to make it to Friday, then I'm going to North Carolina to snuggle my niece and nephew and visit my sister and her H. And, extra bonus: my other sister (who lives in Minnesota and who therefore I see approximately once a year) will also be there! She decided she couldn't wait until Christmas to meet Rosemary so she's flying down. I've already packed up a "girls' night in" kit with adult coloring books, 3 bottles of wine, at-home spa stuff, and movies. I am so looking forward to spending some time with people I love.
@futuremrshistorian Your trip to NC on Friday sounds like a great time!! I hope the time with your family helps to cheer you up a little!
