I guess I should clarify! What's your favorite healthy version of a "cheat" meal that would normally not be great for you.

For example - using spaghetti squash to make lasagna instead of pasta.
    Zoodles instead of noodles.
Healthy mac n cheese if that's even such a thing.

  • Wednesday 4/13

Exercise: ran 5 miles this morning

    Wednesday's Question:

What is your favorite healthy "cheater" meal?

I make homemade mac and cheese with wheat pasta. Honestly though I don't have a lot of HEALTHY cheater meals... When I cheat, I cheat :)

I feel like so many of the recipes on Skinnytastes are exactly this! I love that she takes typically unhealthy meals and makes them healthy without sacrificing flavor/taste.

  • WW Easy Mac and Cheese

    • 12 oz uncooked pasta, elbow macaroni or other small shape (about 3 cups)

    • 1⁄8 tsp table salt, for pasta cooking water

    • 2 cup(s)fat free skim milk

    • 1⁄4 cup(s)all-purpose flour

    • 3⁄4 tsp table salt

    • 3⁄4 tsp onion powder

    • 1 cup(s)low fat shredded cheddar cheese, sharp-variety

    • 1⁄8 tsp hot pepper sauce, or more to taste

    Instructions

    • Step1

Cook pasta in lightly salted boiling water according to package directions; drain and return to pot.

    • Step2

Meanwhile, while pasta cooks, in a large saucepan, whisk together milk, flour, salt and onion powder until blended.* Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, whisking frequently; reduce heat to low and simmer, stirring often, until thickened, about 2 minutes. Remove pan from heat and whisk in cheese and hot sauce. Add sauce to pasta; toss to mix and coat. Yields about 1 cup per serving.

    Notes

*Add red pepper flakes and freshly ground black pepper with the salt and onion powder, if desired.

    * I copied and pasted because I'm not sure if you can link to it if you're not a WW member.

Exercise: Probably nothing because I'm tired and going straight to dinner from work and then will probably be in a sushi coma

    Thursday's Question:

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)

I come pretty close. I drink SO much water at work but I could definitely increase my intake at night and on the weekends. I tend to feel really good when I'm drinking a lot of water everyday.

    Thursday's Question:

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)

Omg not nearly enough. This is something I really need to work on. I drink A LOT of water when I'm exercising and also at night because my mouth gets dry when I sleep. I probably drink around 48 oz but should be closer to 64 oz.
  • THURSDAY 4/14

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)

Like Swazzle I think I do really well when I'm at work - I have a water bottle at my desk that I constantly refill. I need to get better on nights and weekends, for sure. I need a second water bottle to carry around at home! haha
  • THURSDAY 4/14

    Thursday's Question:

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)

I do very well at work during the week, and okay at night. The weekends I do terrible. I have an appt to track water intake, Plant Nanny, and it sends me reminders when I haven't tracked so that helps a ton!

  • THURSDAY 4/14

Breakfast: Oatmeal, blackberries, strawberries, Coffee (with york peppermint patty creamer yum!), water

Lunch: Leftover steak stir fry with carrots, broccoli, and snap peas and water

Dinner: Pork chops, grains (it is an assortment of barley, lentils, and I don't remember what else), string beans, and a salad - and wine

    Snacks: Grapefruit, banana, cliff bar

Exercise: Cleaning my house like a mad woman.  I'll probably do some stretching and light yoga before bed too.

    Thursday's Question:

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)

I have a 20oz cup that I refill all day long when I'm at work.  When I'm home I'll have water with meals or if I feel thirsty, but no where near as much as I drink when I'm at work. To change that, I got an infuser pitcher so I can slice up fruit and trick myself into thinking I have juice when I'm home.

    Thursday's Question:

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)

Like @Swazzle and @PamBeesly524 I think I do better at work. I keep a large cup on my desk and I refill it around 5 times or more during the day. I'm not as good at night or on the weekends though.

  • My big accountability step right now is actually eating breakfast.

Breakfast: Special K bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich

    Thursday's Question:

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)
Oh lord not even close. I need to get a large cup or water bottle for the office because I hardly drink during the work day.
  • THURSDAY 4/14

Breakfast: Oatmeal, egg fried in olive oil, chocolate soy milk, matcha green tea

    Lunch: Lentils and ham

Dinner: Salmon and a TON of roasted asparagus, because I need to eat up what I have left before I leave tomorrow.  If I have the calories, I'll probably put some pasta in there.  And wine.  (But let's be honest, if I'm borderline on calories, I'll pick the wine over the pasta).

Snacks: I have an apple, and a KIND bar if I need it.

Exercise: Interval run after work (about 3 miles).  Hopefully.

    Thursday's Question:

Do you drink enough water each day? (Supposedly you take your weight and multiply it by 67%, adding 12oz for every 30 minutes of activity you do.)

I drink so much water, especially when I'm teaching.  I have a 20 oz. cup at work that I probably refill between 3-4 times per day, plus a 32 oz. cup that I down anytime I'm working out, plus I carry water in the car with me...it's a lot.  I got in the habit a few years ago when I was having really bad headaches and hydrating helped a lot.  It's stuck (and I hardly ever have the bad headaches anymore).
  • @futuremrshistorian - Do you get asparagus pee?

  • Swazzle said:
@futuremrshistorian - Do you get asparagus pee?
Nope!  I don't know if that makes me weird or not but I've never noticed any difference, no matter how much asparagus I eat.  And I really love asparagus a lot.
  • @futuremrshistorian - I don't think it happens to everyone. I LOVE asparagus but even 1 bite stinks up my pee.

  • @Swazzle funny that you mention that because in the past I never got it, but in the last year or so I've been getting asparagus pee even if the tiniest bit of asparagus is in my meal! It freaked me out the first time it happened, I thought I was ill.

    friends tv show funy
  • Friday's Question

When is your cheat day and what do you plan on indulging?
I don't really have a cheat day. I'll have a "cheat" meal, like last night I had sushi and I didn't count points because it'd be too hard to figure out. I have no idea if I stayed within my daily points or not but I don't even care because sushi.

    FRIDAY 4/15

Breakfast: Lots of coffee with milk (3 pts for 3 cups)

Lunch: Flatout wrap with turkey, brie, and veggies (7 pts)

Dinner: Saving up as many points as I can for dinner because we're going out for BBQ!! And I am having BEER!!!!!!!

    Snacks: clementines

Exercise: Nothing planned. I might take the dog on a couple laps around the neighborhood (hills).

    Friday's Question

When is your cheat day and what do you plan on indulging?
It usually falls on a weekend day, usually Fridays although on Saturdays I'll make myself a fun breakfast. My indulgence of choice is alcohol. ETA More like @Swazzle it tends to be more of a cheat meal like bbq or a ton of delicious delicious sushi. I do try to track it so I stay accountable to myself but with some things it's difficult to really estimate.

  • FRIDAY 4/15

    Breakfast: Yogurt and coffee

Lunch: Leftover Honey Hoisin Chicken and Rice

    Dinner: Chicken Tacos!

Snacks: none- my lunch is big!

    Exercise: Insanity

    Friday's Question

When is your cheat day and what do you plan on indulging?
Usually the weekends and I indulge in wine and usually pizza.
  • FRIDAY 4/15

Breakfast: Oatmeal, yogurt w/ granola and fruit... Trying reaaaalllly hard not to eyeball the bacon egg and cheese sandwiches being provided for our meeting

Lunch: Whatever they provide us for the meeting today

Dinner: Haven't planned that far! Maybe salads.

Snacks: Frozen yogurt - I ordered some to celebrate my manager's boyfriend.

Exercise: spin class this morning.. hence my intense appetite for breakfast.

    Friday's Question

When is your cheat day and what do you plan on indulging?

During the week it's definitely Friday's... I tend to only bring lunch 4/5 days a week and then walk somewhere for lunch to get some exercise. However I usually end up with a grilled cheese or something equally delicious.

The weekends are tough too because I want to eat all the brunch and all the foods.
