@wink0erin can you download a different app besides that one that comes on the iphone? I think I have "map my run" and it seems really accurate.

@wink0erin - It's not an app but for afterwards, you could try using this to track where you were and it'll calculate the distance for you: CLICK

Just find the area you were in by city or zip or something. Then click on 'start recording', double click where you started and then map it out with more double clicks for turns and things.

@swazzle – Your dinner from last night looks incredible! Scallops are one of the few seafood things I’ve never tried. No one I know has ever cooked or eaten them around me! Maybe I should just try and cook them myself. . . PS, that Leo gif always breaks my heart!

@wink0erin – I got a Garmin watch and I absolutely love it. Plus, it links to this cool application you download on your computer and it maps out your routes and can produce all kinds of graphs for your distance, elevation gain, etc. I wear mine on hikes too, so I can know just how far I've actually traveled at any given time.

@PamBeesly524 – I mean, I like running, but not enough to ever want to enter a raffle where the prize is running 26 miles in a row, haha! Just kidding, I hope you win! That would be a great experience! And motivation.

I made @PamBeesly524's spaghetti squash recipe last night and it was AMAZING. I'm a big fan of any dish that doesn't require you to dump out the bacon grease. But it was my first attempt at cooking spaghetti squash as well, and it was so easy! I can't wait to do it again! I'm a bit of a pasta harr, so this is a good way to lower my carb intake. I love carbs. Especially bread.

With all this talk of long runs and such...... Has anyone done a walk/run with their dog? The local shelter is having a 5k fundraiser run and you're supposed to bring your pet on the run with you (although it's obviously geared toward dogs). I thought it could be really fun, but my dog might just want to play the whole time. It will either be that or he'll run super fast because he loves to be in front. Just thought I'd see if anyone has any experience?

Not much last night. Vacuumed and just made a frozen pizza - Ristaurante thin crust, spinach! - and chatted with my mum for about an hour.
Made a marinate of vegetable oil, onion powder, garlic powder and wild whiskey bbq rub for pork chops, which I cut into strips and pan fry them. We don't have a lot time tonight since Matt has a hair cut appt and I'm going with because it's my friend who does it and I need to chat with her about my hair.

This morning I was able to make smoothies. Which today's is plain yogurt, frozen mangos, a bit of fruitopia "strawberry passion awareness" juice (to help mix) and half a spoon full of vanilla matcha for health benefits.

I think we'll just tidy up the table tonight when we're home, but otherwise not much.

@AlPacina - You should try them sometime! I started C25K with Lucy a couple years ago and she was NOT a good running buddy. Every time we passed a person with another dog, she would stop and need to have a conversation. I never finished the full thing and it's all her fault (it had nothing to do with not really wanting to run, obviously).

I run with Marv all the time, but only early in the morning when there is no one else around. If there is one other dog around, he wants to go see it and play with it. If I don't let him, he whines pretty loudly. I have no idea if that is exacerbated when there are even more dogs. The more I think about it, the more I think it's probably not a great idea, haha.

HI EVERYONE! I promise I read everything and now I want a combo of scallops, spaghetti squash, bacon, and all sorts of other good stuff.

@wink0erin I think if you spend some $$$ there are really great runner's watches out there with more accurate GPS that will track your pace/distance/etc.

I'm late this morning because I was volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta and it was so much fun! We prepared breakfast for about 8 families. Apparently the house was full but a lot of people must not have made it down for breakfast today because we were expecting to see a lot more people than we did. Oh well...I still had fun and we made one little girl's day when she saw the watermelon that we had cut up to look like a piggie (it even had a tail!). So now back to work and slogging through emails!

Day 2 of contracting is going well. We had a plumber (a cheaper one) out today to put down the shower pan liner, do the tub fixture, and also lower the toilet connection all for the same amount of money that we paid the first plumber so muccchhhh more reasonable!

@jenna8984 I have Argus, it tracks all my steps/distance for the day but isn't always fully accurate since it relies on Apple Health. At least it gives me a ballpark figure though!

@Alpacina I like the idea of a watch or other wrist thing. Which one do you have? Every time I hike I wish I had one!

Worked late last night. The first round of budget cuts came down. Terror for me has been replaced by extremely cautious optimism. H's unit may actually have suffered more, so I'm not sure what the hell any of it means yet. The waiting game continues...

Tonight I'll be grading and prepping my test for tomorrow. Tomorrow night is my brother's senior recital, so I need to be available to go to that. If H has half a brain, he will clean the house so my parents don't know we live like that.

Mine's black but I think that's the one.. I'm sure they have newer models now but this one works great. The only thing I've noticed is that I have to keep it updated or it won't find my position quickly which can be annoying when I just want to run and don't want to stand around waiting for it.

@wink0erin - I got the Garmin Forerunner 220. I also like the fact that the watch will alert you if you set a PR: like it's your longest distance, or your fastest mile, or your fastest 5k, etc. At least, that was nice when I first started running. Now I keep going shorter distances at a slower pace, haha!

@PamBeesly524 - I am still shocked at how similar we are, haha. I just hope the dress fits! That would suck if I went through all this hoopla and then it was a bust, haha. It's arriving Thursday and I can't wait!!

@AlPacina Tess won't run. I have tried to run with her, and she stops to smell everything. Every few feet she will stop to sniff and I have to stop short so I don't go flying. She is the worst running partner, so I feel you!

This weekend I went to the gym both Saturday and Sunday, cleaned the house and caught up on sleep. BF and his buddy fixed our fence and he powerwashed the deck. We watched Star Wars and just relaxed. It was awesome.

This week is a short one for me, had yesterday off and a half day Friday. I am the only one in the office all week, so hopefully it will be quiet!

@MissKittyDanger - But Kylo IS the Skywalker. The series already has the main Skywalker character. And JJ Abrams said that Rey's parents are not in Episode VII. That knocks off Han, Leia, and Luke. So we already have a Skywalker, and what other name seems to intersect with the Skywalkers? KENOBI! #teamkenobi

ETA: There are also some Easter eggs you can watch on youtube about this... Little clues that may or may not mean anything. She has a doll that looks like the old, orange Rebel fighter suit. She says "they call me Rey" (which could mean that's not her actual name). She only hears Yoda and Obi's voice when the light saber talks to her, and like Obi served a purpose to return the light saber to a Skywalker (Luke), Rey could also be a Kenobi who is returning the light saber to a Skywalker.

So BF did this really annoying thing yesterday where he basically invited me to vacation with his family with the extremely short notice of "we leave a week from today." I don't have the kind of job where I can just put in time off and not screw anybody else's schedule up. It takes a lot of logistics! So now I'm hoping I can go. We would be leaving Tuesday and coming back Saturday, I only work on Thursday and would come back Friday night instead if my manager lets me cancel my two classes on Thursday and if I can switch shifts with someone... Grrrr! I really want it to work out. We'd be going to the Outer Banks on NC and Coraline would be able to come too if I can go!

BF doesn't have the same flexibility as I do to take work off, but he also doesn't make much of an effort to try and make himself available for some things when I wish he would, so you're an awesome partner for trying to make it happen!

@wink0erin - I also have tiny wrists. It's fucking annoying. The 220 doesn't seem too huge, but it is definitely large. I just like that it's purple. It makes it cuter. Plus, no one can even see it because I'm always so fast zooming by them!

Part of my job is supposed to include those kinds of phone calls, but once I find out that someone has stopped attending youth group/church, I feel super awkward calling to try and beg them to come back. Hello lovelies!! I've missed you!

Between work, chorus, and the every day things at home, I've been busy.

This past weekend, our youth group put on a musical. It was... umm... they did their best and they are very proud of the work that they did. That's what matters, right?

Last week, I found out about two new jobs that have opened up that I am perfect for. Both of them would get me out of the local church, giving me a regular Monday - Friday schedule, which would be super cool. For the first time in over ten years, I wouldn't have to be in church on Sunday. I sent my resume in for one yesterday and am applying for the other one later this week.

Yesterday I did my taxes and I ended up owing the Feds for the first time in my life. Several hundred dollars, too.

And then H wondered why I was so out of sorts yesterday.

Also yesterday, my hometown got hit with some extremely terrifying storms. The whole city is still underwater. One of my youth families was down in their medical center for the niece's open heart surgery and got stuck. I spent a better part of my day finding out how to direct them out of the city without getting caught in high water. Luckily, all of my friends are safe. H said my mom was posting recipes to facebook, so I'm assuming she's fine, too.

@eilis1228 is on her way there now for a conference. It looks like she may be stuck in the airport for a bit. Hopefully she makes it and doesn't have to row through town.
