What's up today?

My boss seems to be leaving things everywhere lately. I've got to track down items in 3 different cities for him. I've got work and cleaning today.

I'm pretty much just biding time until Friday. It's supposed to be a really nice day and we're going to the county fair!!

I came in early to make up some time for my day off on Monday. I swear these extra half hours are going to actually kill me. Why do they feel like 7 extra hours?

I'm supposed to weigh myself on Thursdays and I'm dreading tomorrow. I don't trust my scale much, but apparently last week I gained a pound. This past week I've been eating out and drinking a lot so I'm worried I effed up any and all progress made. Oh well. I'm determined to stay on the bandwagon this time.

I'm not ready for Wednesday yet. I really need to get up and adult and earn my keep but I don't wanna.

Last night I worked a little event and by the time I got home FI was ready for bed. I hate when that happens since he leaves for work before I wake up. But we are cooking dinner together tonight and watching some survivor (and hopefully knocking out some thank you notes) so he will have plenty of time to annoy me.

His mom got crazy again last night (she has her own thread on Maids and Moms). There was a huge throw down in February and she's been better since then but it led to separate showers for each family. After months of backhanded criticism that the grooms shouldn't attend showers and her family doesn't expect that she changed her mind. Except instead of saying "after seeing you at Kim's family's shower and how nice it was, I think it'd be nice if you came to ours." She called and demanded he attend the entire time and when he questioned it she started crying, yelled don't make fun of me and hung up on him. Ugh.

I'm utterly exhausted. I went to bed a little late but, the bigger problem is I woke up with an upset stomach at 3AM. I wasn't up that long, but I'm very sensitive to having my sleep interrupted. I probably got 5 1/2 hours of sleep, but I'm feeling like I only got 3-4 hours.

Work is shaping up to be its usual long and boring day. That does not help the situation, lol.

@ShesSoCold I'm a Yankees fan but am rooting for the Cubs this postseason. I was so happy this morning when I woke up to see that they had won.

Busy day of meetings for work and then going to a spin class tonight with my MIL and H. Both of them have been trying to get me to try spinning for years and I'm finally caving. I have to start doing some sort of regular working out so I'm hoping that I like it and can make it a regular thing. Also need to attempt to brush the dog's teeth tonight. This should be interesting.

In FWP, my purse broke. My trusty ten year old Coach that was the first nice purse I ever bought. I've gotten a few bags since then, but this was the perfect size and strap length for me right now (why did I feel the need to carry a giant duffle bag for a period?). I'm definitely past the "buying nice purses just because" period in my life and I can find better things to do with a couple hundred bucks, but I'm apparently still a snob.

I'm really hoping the Kate Spade outlet store can tickle my fancy.

I think the interview went well yesterday. The firm (let's call it B ) is actually what a previous law firm I worked at (A), split off from. So, the interview was basically "We figure that since you worked at A, you're probably trained nearly exactly the way we do things here at B, so let's talk about you." Which, I just decided to go all in and talked about my community involvement...which they seemed really interested in. Then we talked about backpacking and floating.

I also touched base with a paralegal there (I actually took her position at the firm I was just at b/c she resigned to go to B ) and she is going to add her voice to my references. I should know by early next week. And this firm has a reputation for being liberal AF and they are pretty much the elite firm for litigation in my city, so it's a step up and probably at least the same money, which will be nice.

Last night, I went to a speaking event with Miss Missouri, who is the first openly gay pageant contestant in Miss America's history. She was totally gorgeous, approachable, and real, which was fantastic. However, the youth group came. Now, 98% of those kids were totally fine, behaved as well as they can for teenagers forced to sit for an hour and half, and had their awkward moments w/questions.

Not the 4 kids behind me. I finally had to ask them to please keep it down as over the course of the 1.5 hours, they never shut the fuck up, they used their normal level of conversation voice, and they kept giggling. Now, I will fully admit that I'm irritable AF right now for personal reasons, so I was trying to keep it together and not turn around and yell, "STFU," at them. Plus, I'm on the board, y'know, I need to keep it together. But after I asked them, politely, to please keep it down, the muttering behind me started. Thank goodness the event was over about 15 minutes after that, b/c I was holding on to one fray of a nerve.

We were supposed to take pictures with her afterward and I just had to leave. I stopped and told their facilitator what had happened. She messaged me this morning to tell me some things and said that anger was radiating off of me, but I kept my voice down and was professional when I spoke to her, so she really appreciated that. It took me a good hour to get calmed down (again that's not the kid's fault, but damn I was pissed).

Other than that, I'm making myself go grocery shopping today, I have a presentation tonight as a grant finalist, and I might try and exercise. I'm going into a pretty deep funk right now (I was expecting it, I'm in the year anniversary of where my marriage started falling apart) and I'm trying to decide how to deal with it. I can't really get off of social media b/c of other responsibilities, but I might need to disable Timehop and stay off of On This Day. Even though I never really posted about what was going on, I was doing other things and posting about those other things and I can see and remember what was happening when I posted. And just give myself some time to grieve.

I've been getting paperwork together for the school job, stuff I've been putting off. I also get to have a physical and tb test on Friday. Fun.

I have been eaten alive by bugs the last week or so and it is brutal. I am itchy everywhere and have to take Benadryl to help it. I am going crazy and my legs look terrible. Thank goodness it's pants weather.

Last night I had boxing class. It's been my THIRD group boxing class where I've been the only one there. So I'm seriously getting private boxing lessons! I had a great workout, and just followed the Cubs on my facebook feed. My friend is a SFG fan, and I found out from her post before anything else. lol.

@shessocold, my WI's are Thursday nights too. It's with the TOPS organization, otherwise I always wondered if I'd do better on weekends if i had a Monday weigh in? nahhhhh. It'd still suck at weekends.

Off to a slow start today. Wooz is off, so DH took the kids in while I went to her conference. It was a good meeting, and I really like her teacher. (She was loud, though! You can tell that she's used to having to talk over 20 seven year olds.)

Nothing major on my schedule, which is why I think I feel like I'm off to a slow start.

One of my coworkers is a really vocal Trump supporter, and she's currently pushing "boys will be boys" re: his Access Hollywood video from Friday. She has a daughter in high school! What are you teaching your daughter about consent when you think it's normal and acceptable for men to laugh and joke about groping women?

Looking ahead to the weekend, I think we're going back to the mountains to take the kids on this Great Pumpkin Train. I was holding off to see what the weather would be like Sunday, but now that we're closer, the forecast looks great. We debated, because it will have to be a day trip: DS has swim Saturday and DD has two birthday parties, next weekend DS has a party and DD is doing a horse show (just a small thing at the barn where she rides), and we're afraid that by the weekend after that (right before Halloween), it will be cold up in the mountains. So I think we're going to carpe the diem and go for it.

I hated giving it up, but they are only on Mondays and Wednesdays at the gym that I can walk to and I have so many conflicts that I could never make it regularly. My class was always on the small side as well. But I saw fantastic results in my strength and definition, quickly, and I loved being able to take emotions out on that bag!

ha! that's like my instructor "I'm not promoting violence buuuuuut.....roundhouse kick the "attacker" in the face!" - my instructor knows I'm working the arms (strapless dress) so she actually changes up the moves once she sees that it is only me in the class. Less kicks, more arms.

Not working on Monday has really screwed with my internal calendar.

I am cleaning out my office. I will miss this place a teensy bit.

Passed my final performance review with flying colors (not that there was much self-doubt that I would), but I apparently impressed the review committee. I don't know who promulgated the notion that I am "a quiet, mousey enginerd," but I think I thoroughly banished that. It was GRUELING. They told me "it normally lasts about an hour and a half, sometimes a smidge longer," but we were still in there 2-1/2 hours later.

My brain is mush.

I brought in two dozen donuts for the office to celebrate and say so long and thanks for all the fish (OMG what a cluster getting THOSE was... the donuts, not the fish), and the vultures ate them all in the amount of time it took me to open the boxes. I felt like the Tasmanian Devil blew through.

My new boss stopped by to give me a pep talk about how to "deal" with the guy I am going to be working with in the field, and to not be afraid to "assert" myself or reach out to him if the going gets tough. So that was nice to hear. I have a meeting with senior management later this morning, probably another pep talk.

We are having dinner with some friends tonight, and I am going to try to get the cleaning and prep work done so tomorrow H and I can have some time to ourselves. I keep falling asleep on the couch, so not optimistic we will have much quality time together, but at least it will be quiet. Ish.

In other news, H's cousin, who randomly hit me up for cash awhile back and got diapers instead, has landed herself in jail. It sounds like she will be there for a long time. I am still processing this news. On the one hand, I can't say I am terribly surprised she's in jail, but on the other, I am shocked about the circumstances of her arrest, particularly that she put her kids at risk. At least they are safe now, though.

Morning WW! DH and I both woke up late this morning. He was late for a flight lesson and I was late for work. Wednesday - 1 Becklers - 0.

We have someone coming to look at our heating and air units today. They're going to give us a quote for replacing them both. Our heat broke earlier this year, but it was late enough in Spring that we didn't need it much so we waited to call anyone. Our air was struggling to keep up this summer. We'd both rather replace it before it breaks than have it break on the hottest day of the year and have to wait a week for someone to even be available to look at it (you know that's how it would happen). I'm hoping this guy gives us a decent price so we can just get this over with.

I asked DH about a month ago to please make sure it's all taken care of before he leaves so I won't have to deal with it by myself. Of course, in typical DH fashion, he waited until the week before and said "OH SHIT" and now we're scrambling to get it done. *sigh* They let this guy fly planes, people.

It was a combination performance review and qualification thing. So, basically, they wanted to make sure that the person they hired to do the field work is technically proficient and understands the company standards and expectations (e.g., am I going to be a source of embarrassment for the company). What looks good on paper, kind of thing. I guess they have had problems in the past.

Ugh. DH had a cousin like that. (Not the cheatin' cousin, a different one.) They were like a bad country song: he and his wife (?) were cooking meth on their property (I don't think it was in the trailer, I think they had a shed or some sort of outbuilding), got busted and sent to jail, and had their two young daughters taken away. FIL and his wife had them for several months before they went to live with their grandmother (FIL's older sister). It was sad, but probably best for the girls that they got out of that environment. A year and a half ago, Cousin died when he crashed his semi, killing one passenger and injuring another. The autopsy found drugs in his system, to no one's surprise, unfortunately.

The girls are doing well: oldest is in college now studying pre-law, youngest is in high school and thriving. Hopefully that will be the case for your H's cousin's kids, as well. Kids can be resilient, given half a chance. I just really hope they get that chance, you know?

I was PO'ed yesterday. I walked into the break room and saw what looked like a box of doughnuts. It was not. It was a cake that did not look appetizing (to me). Especially since I've been craving a doughnut.

I posted a link to the Trump tapes when it first leaked with a caption that said ""I'm sorry if anyone was offended" is not an apology" and it blew up with comments from people defending him, and saying HRC is just as bad because she stayed in her marriage, and I just can't now. I deleted the Facebook app and turned off notifications and commenting for my posts and am taking a break until after the election (maybe longer?).

FTR there was no dramatic "I'm leaving social media", I just shut everything down. Feels pretty good.

@charlotte989875 I have 2 women defending Trunp on my page; one whose daughter was sexually assaulted in the school parking lot and had to sue for action and another who claims Clinton is just as bad and keeps dragging Trumps accusers through the mud.

My simple reply is "I don't engage in discrediting alleged victims of assault. If you believe the accusations against one and not the other; you're simply putting your politics before your humanity."

i am lucky. No vocal trump supporter on my FB, I know some who do support but at least they keep their mouths mostly shut about it.

FH's visa was approved. The relocation company is coming Tuesday morning to take inventory of what we taking with us. FH leaves November 5th. I have to stay until the marriage certificate comes back and then change my name. We are going to pay rent for November but Idk if there will be any furniture left for me to stay in the house. I have options but I don't know what I am going to do or where I am going to go yet.

We have a double dose of dancing lessons on Saturday. Sunday is dedicated figuring out what we are going to take, store, or trash.

Ugh, I'm still moving. The plus side is I don't have to wrap and box everything up at once. I have pretty much moved 95% of my kitchen using 1 thin box, 2 grocery bags + my wagon. I just roll over the wagon to the new place. Unload the bag/box and put the stuff in it's new home. Then rinse and repeat.

I'm at the point right now where I have 2 half houses. Which is kind-of annoying. I hate clutter. Oh it doesn't help that half the sofa is already over to the new place. Us and the 2 dogs all fighting for the 3 remaining spots on the couch.

We are heading to Denver for the weekend so DH can attend a motorcycle safety class. He is in the class Friday night, Saturday from 7-3 and Sunday from 7-12. So not really a romantic getaway. More like a divide and conquer. He will go to class. I hope to go hiking and also look for new rugs. Maybe hit up The Container Store (I'm obsessed with that store).

Monday is the "big" move. AKA the beds, rest of the sofa, big furniture, internet/cable, etc.

I feel like it's going to be a long week.

I got my friend back to the train station with 2 minutes to spare this morning. The conductor was nice enough to re-open the doors for him! Whoops! But at least he made the train.

We had lots of fun laughs at dinner last night, recounting all of our fun times before and trying to remember how long it had been since we had last seen each other. We decided to just say 10 years, because anything further (or more accurate) made us feel old! My dogs were absolutely in love with him and will be quite upset with me when I come home later today and he is not with me any longer! We got together again for breakfast this morning and had more laughs. Then it was the race to the train station.

I'm in the office now and wondering why I didn't take a full vacation day instead of a half. Why???

Varuna - Good luck on that job prospect, it sounds very promising with all of your connections to that firm already. And I hope that you are able to figure out the best way to help your mood. If it makes you feel any better, I probably wouldn't have waited so long to tell those kids to quiet down.

The WP also interviewed a former contestant who verified that he did indeed do that. She also pointed out (paraphrasing), "Who were we going to complain to? He owned the pageant and everyone there worked for him." That would be the definition of sexual harassment.

He reportedly did the same thing at the 1997 Miss Teen USA pageant, where some of the contestants were as young as 15.

Today I have school, which kills a progressively bigger piece of my soul each week. I can handle the first class, which is just boring, but the second class is not what I paid for, and I have to take it as it's a requirement for the degree. It's supposed to be a theory class, but my teacher turns it into a theology class. I get it, I'm at a Christian school, but you still have to adhere to the actual content of the course. Oh, and science is real. Ugh.

I do life insurance, and a client's client just got quoted some really high premiums due to marijuana use. I'm shopping around trying to find a better carrier and said out loud, to myself, "Okay. Where can I smoke pot?" right as my boss was walking by. He does not sound like he believes my "client's client" story.

Do you know what really bothers me about that? In my circle, at least, there is pretty substantial overlap between people who are pro-HB2 and people who support Trump.

So let me get this straight: they claim that trans people cannot possibly use the bathroom that conforms to their gender identity, because OMG PERVERTS AND WON'T SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!?! Despite the fact that there is zero--ZEE-RO--evidence that trans men and women are molesting children in public restrooms. And yet at the same time, these pro-HB2 voters are prepared to give their vote to a man who:

a) Advocated grabbing women "by the pussy" and touted being able to get away with it when you're a "star." (His term, not mine.)

b) Walked in on Miss USA contestants when they were changing, purely to satisfy his most prurient impulses...and bragged about it.

c) Referred to his own daughter as "a voluptuous piece of ass" on Howard Stern and elsewhere discussed his infant daughter's (Tiffany's) future legs and breasts.

d) Y'all, I could go on and on and on, but I have to get back to work. But you know the rest.

And yet trans people are the creepy perverts we all need to protect our children from? And this guy is the one who is going to Make America Great Again???

Y'all, I don't know what I'm looking forward to more on election day: voting for Hillary, or tossing effing Pat McCrory and his party out of office.

And in other, completely unrelated news, I had to run to Target at lunch, and I was weak: I bought Ghirardelli dark chocolate bourbon caramel squares, because I thought they would be awesome. They are not.

On the bright side, at least I won't be snacking on them this afternoon.
