FRIDAY!!

I think everyone has been looking for Friday this week.  ;)

What's up for the weekend?

I'm super sleepy this morning and I don't feel like making coffee.  DH did make a pot last night and then forgot about it.  I'm contemplating heating up a cup.

I have to work tomorrow.  :(  I will cut people if they wake me up early on Sunday.  We have to get our storage room cleaned out and fix the shelf that fell in it a few *months* ago (don't even get me started).   I also want  DH to put up Christmas lights at some point.   Colts are on bye this week, so at least we don't have to schedule around that.  ;)

Re: FRIDAY!!

  • I have a party tomorrow and meeting a friend for happy hour tonight.

On a side note: I think I'm going to have to start coloring my hair. The grey hairs are making friends. I guess I'm doing good that didn't start until 43, but I think they are here to stay. Boo.

Plus, they are in the front and they are hard to hide under this good florescent light.

  • I spent two hours cleaning the house last night (everything takes twice as long when there's an infant too) and was in considerable pain when I went to bed. Let the dog out this morning and when he came back in, his paws were covered with mud. I literally sat and cried. There was a Dear Prudie yesterday talking about cleaning being a Sisyphean effort; she must have a dog, too. I vacuum and 5 minutes later the rug is covered in dog hair. I mop and 5 minutes later the floor has dog drool spotted about. I wash the walls and a day later it looks the same. My cats aren't nearly this bad.

Found out yesterday, we get 4 days at Christmas. Today, I'll be ordering the employee Christmas gifts and Christmas party catering. I'm hopefully heading to bed early tonight since H kept using my forehead as an arm rest last night and I didn't sleep well.

Tomorrow, we're meeting with the photographer to get our wedding pictures (yay!), returning some stuff the antique store let us borrow to get the new dresser home, and either going to a wedding that my brother told me would be the "hillbilliest wedding I've ever been to" or meeting some friends for Cards Against Humanity.

We're also going to shampoo the carpet in the former cat's room again, move the rest of the furniture out of there, and paint the accent wall. The skeleton keys I ordered came in so I'll start on the flying key mobile. We're doing a Harry Potter theme.

  • I didn't sleep AT ALL last night.  I normally don't suffer from insomnia.  I don't know what was going on.  It was an upsetting day and I came home late and unhappy.  But I wasn't fretting and worrying or anything.  I felt tired, but just spent hours in bed in this half-asleep, but more awake, stage.

I have SO much to do today.  I was already overwhelmed by it and I don't know how I'll survive.  Right now, I'm surprisingly awake.  That's a shocker.  But it is just a matter of time before I crash and burn hard.

On other notes, is summer finally over?  We broke out the down comforter last night for the first time since last winter.  I put the heater on in my car this morning.  THE HEATER!!!  Also the first time since last winter.  We still haven't put the heater on in the house yet, though.  Probably won't for awhile.  Forecast for the next 10 days is highs mid 70s and lows mid 50s.  Finally!  Good temps.

  • Oh Friday, we needed you!

I'm working tonight and tomorrow night for the caterer, but also going out with friends tonight for a much needed evening of debauchery. I need to be physically removed from Google right now.

Sunday is the shower FMIL is hosting for her family, and I can't believe I am saying this, but I'm really looking forward to it and think it will be a nice time.  I don't think I was posting on WW yet, but at the time we decided to do two showers it was a compromise I made with FI because she had said some awful things about my family after a party we hosted in February.  He challenged her on all of the things she said which resulted in them not speaking until Easter.  I really didn't think we'd recover from that, but we did, and she and I have a much better relationship for it.

  • I'm so happy it's Friday. This has been a depressing week not only because of the election results, but also because I was sure this month was the month I would finally be pregnant - only to have a visit from my Aunt Flo a day early.

I have a half day at work today and it's gorgeous and sunny out, so I think I am going to take the dog for a nice walk and then maybe try a new recipe for dinner...
  • USA vs Mexico soccer tonight!!!!!  I'm so excited.  Dinner, soccer, time with the husband!

Saturday morning 6let has his first reconciliation.  Instead of asking what it is MIL is just pretending she knows.  It's kind of funny.  I want to enlighten her but she never hears my words so why bother.

6let has his first indoor game tomorrow too.  I'm excited for him.  He's playing up a level with kids that are good.

Sunday church.  That's all I know.
  • Sending good vibes to you and your mom today, @Heffalump!!
  • good luck to your mom in her procedure @Heffalump
  • I'm laying in bed trying to motivate myself to get up and go to the gym. Tbh I still feel a little despondent about the election. I have lunch with my bff and that's about it for the day. Tomorrow I have prenatal pregnancy training so I can be a certified peer educator and patient advocate. It will be a long day. And I'll be with the undergrads for all of it. Uhhh.

  • @DrillSergeantCat  That sucks about the cleaning. I would probably cry too tbh
You better AW that mobile ;) Sounds neat!

I'm so proud I know what @mrsconn23  means by "bye week" because @ShesSoCold  explained it not long ago   H ended up mentioning it last weekend and asked if I knew what it meant lol!

H doesn't have to work until later today since he's been on overtime a lot. He still got up at the same time and ended up driving me to the bus stop this morning.

    Tonight is likely not much. We have a photoshoot tomorrow so I have to trim H's face {he hates doing it and I don't want him to shave it all or else he looks 12 lol}
I finally got some better moisturizer last night and the weird dry patches are getting better. I think between my cold and the weather, just made my skin dry right out.

Tomorrow we're doing the couch. It's positioned wrong for the walls, so we have to take it apart.
By we, I mean H is. Lol! I'll be vacuuming the dust bunnies from underneath when he's done.

Our photo shoot is at 3pm, and I'm still not 100% sure where we're going. It's either the photographer's friend's farm or a dock. Regardless I'm excited, there isn't a lot of nice photos we can print off of us.
My mum gave me a shirt she got me for xmas, early so I had a nice top for the shoot.

Sunday we're liking going to a mall we don't normally venture to so I can pick up a Lush g.c for my friend. I'm seeing her next weekend hopefully and it's for her bday. She said awhile ago she had never bought anything from Lush, also she used her first bath bomb {Charmed Aroma} recently. So I knew I had to get her that.
    I'm likely picking up something from Bath & Body Works for my mum, since I half stole her bubble bath {oops!}

It's also cleaning day, so I'm hoping that I'll just hit mall alone and H will clean some.
  • Heffa, I hope that your Mom procedure goes well.

  • Good thoughts for your Mom, @Heffalump!

Got my first pair of glasses today.

Half marathon tomorrow and resting all day Sunday!
  • @charlotte989875 good luck with your half marathon! I'll be rooting for you in my head tomorrow morning!!

I live in the mountains and still haven't turned on my heat.   We still  have our bedroom window open.  Highs have been in the mid-to-high 60's lows in the low 30's.

    Sorry you didn't sleep well.

Another uneventful weekend for us.   It's going to be nice and sunny, so I'm sure a good hike will occur before the weather changes.  Which needs to happen soon. We need a good dumping of snow.

  • I'm happy this shit week is coming to a close.

Tonight we are going to a happy hour for a friend and coworker of FI's.  It runs 4-7, so I will be at work or in rush hour traffic for most of it, but after that is should be fun.  Hoping after that to get together with another friend and his girlfriend.  She just moved here a few days ago from their mutual hometown and from when she visited previously she seems super awesome!  I'm very excited to get to know her better.

Saturday we have a CouchSurfing guest, so we will hang around with her a bit and perhaps try to pull together a small gathering.

Sunday we have to deal with FFIL's computer.  He is super gullible and he just got hacked again for the second time in a few months.  Scammers call him on his land line and tell him they will "fix" his computer, and he believes it and gives them remote access.  Yikes!

On an amusing note, FI and I have been trying to plan our trip to Europe over New Years.  I found crazy cheap tickets a few weeks ago, so we are going to visit his friend in Milan.  We have enough time to do a second destination, too, but it has been tough figuring out where to go.  FI decided he wanted to do a second country since this is his first time in Europe and only his second time abroad ever.  He wanted to focus on big-name "world cities," but he was completely overwhelmed about actually picking one.  I have traveled a lot and worked in the travel industry so he kind of wanted me to pick, but I wanted his input too.  We just kept going around and around, with me naming off cities where the flights were within our budget and him being enthusiastic about every single one.  I get it; I want to go everywhere too!  But it's not super productive.

Well anyway, the one and only criterion FI had suggested was that it be a big, famous European city.  Then he was looking at the map of cheap flights and saw Luxembourg City and was all "That!  That's it!"  Way to stick with literally the one thing you had finally, painstakingly decided, you silly guy!  So now the top contender is flying into Brussels, spending a couple of days, and then taking the train to Luxembourg.  Totally not what I would have expected, but I love the idea and think it's hilarious.
  • Hope all goes well with your mom, Heffa.

I'm sorry @sparklepants41 :( that's really disappointing. DH and I aren't trying yet, but lots of my friends are, and I know it's like a punch in the gut every time Aunt Flo comes. Hugs.

Morning (afternoon?) WW! I slept great last night for the first time in days and just rolled out of bed about an hour ago. Made myself some eggs, toast, and good non-Keurig coffee for breakfast (sorry to all the Keurig lovers, but I hate that that's what I'm stuck with at work!) and now I'm on the couch watching Chopped. Today is the first day of my first vacation in well over a year. It's a great day to be alive and off of work :)

I'm hanging out around the house washing clothes and trying to find my coat. I'm actually going to need it in Cinci. Mom and I are heading to Nashville later for the Keith Urban concert. I'm so excited! We've had these tickets since March. That's a long time to wait! It's going to be a great night.

TOMORROW I see DH!!!! He's not a feelings kind of guy and even he's excited. Bad news is, I started my period this morning. Here's hoping it's light and short. I don't want to feel bad the whole time I'm with him.
Thank you. I had a very cathartic sobbing session last night with (too much) wine. I am starting to feel okay again today and am hopeful about this month hopefully finally being The Month.

Also - I am a huge fan of Chopped. And I hope you and your H have a really great time together!!

Chopped is one of my favorite shows! I have my DVR set to record all the new episodes. I love it! And thank you! I can't wait to see him.

  • Good luck to your mom @Heffalump
  • Happy friday everyone. I don't have a lot planned for the weekend. Work at the barn tomorrow morning, sunday is a free day, barn work on Monday, then dog to vet monday afternoon. Tuesday I think I am to take my car to the shop. It is a repair that cost almost what the car is worth but I feel like I have to do it since I promised the car to my brother. I am 50/50 on whether or not I am going to go home for a visit before I leave. Con. I don't want to drive there. Con. It will be cold there. Pro. I do want to see my friends. Con. I am not really ready to see my family.

Thanks everyone! Last one of the season, then a 10k Thanksgiving morning.

@MissKittyDanger I haven't done a full yet, I'm still contemplating one in the spring. I'm not worried about the racing distance but about all the training time. Training for a half isn't bad because the long runs are still only like 2 hours, but the long runs for the full will take up a lot of the day. Have you done one??
  • @ShesSoCold - That's terrific news!  Fingers crossed!

training for a full can be rough in the winter if you are somewhere you have to worry about snow/ice. Now if you don't mind long runs on a treadmill or weather isn't an issue then a spring full isn't a big deal. The downside to a fall full is summer heat but I would just get up and run super early to beat the heat and always preferred it to fighting with snow/ice
  • @charlotte989875  I'm not a runner but one of my friends runs and has done a half marathon. I keep saying she runs marathons though ;)

@kvruns  my friend {mentioned above} runs in all weather as long as it's safe. Apparently there are runner shoes that can help with traction for snow/ice runs? She found too much of a difference when running on treadmill vs ground

I lot of people up here will wear trail runners in the winter.  They have good traction and most are water-proof or the very least water-resistance.

If you live in icy areas you can get  ice grips like these:

They just slip over your shoes and do not weigh much.
