Wedding Woes

Friday!

What's up for the weekend?

We're going to IL to visit DH's family.   Sunday is one year since MIL's 'd' day.  So the weekend certainly going to be a mixed bag of feelings.

DH did the last mow yesterday. Woohoo.

The kids were home this morning since they had cleanings and I'm sure glad they don't get up together in the morning.  They are annoying.

Re: Friday!

  • Baby girl spent most of yesterday under my right rib cage so my ribs were sore last night. At 9:00 Mouse still wasn't in bed, but he was sleepy so I asked H if he could handle getting him to bed so I could crawl in the tub. He said sure. He was wrong. About 15 minutes later, he bangs the bathroom door open to tell me that "Our son is not going to sleep any time soon." He was pissed. He then decided to tell me that I need to not let him nap in the afternoons when we get home. I told him that if he doesn't get a nap, he becomes a whiny shit. He said he didn't care because "it's now 9:30 and he's not asleep." I took that as him saying he doesn't care if I have to deal with a whining cranky baby as long as he doesn't have to. We talked it out, though, and Mouse passed out around 10 and slept until 6. Had H gone to bed then, he'd feel as refreshed as I do today.

Weekend plans include getting new shoes for H and more winter clothes for Mouse, grocery shopping for Thanksgiving, and maybe a run to the antique store to replace the hook Mouse broke yesterday. Oh and possibly seeing "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" on Sunday with the oldest.
  • @mrsconn23  do something that would be good as 'self care' for the family Sunday. Even if you think you're ready for the day to come, it's never what you anticipate to feel. <3

This weekend not much. Didn't end up getting the front hall bench last night, so we're going tonight. M wants to look at Value Village for board games, etc. He said it'd be good to have lots of options when people come over .... I asked him when we were going to cave and buy our own copy of Cards Against Humanity lol
I'm likely building the bench while M puts our resumes, because I'M done with his job.
So he's suppose to be paid today but wasn't. End of day yesterday, whole company gets called into board room and said pay is being held off until some point next week. This happened twice before - once was a payroll issue, second time was "we're waiting for new investors to blink" deal. This time they're waiting on lenders and the money wouldn't come in on time.

This basically shows you how well that company is doing right now ....

Saturday M's has to do his tires. It's basically the last day of decently warm weather, then it'll drop right off on Sunday and we're expecting flurries. :'(
While he does his tires, I'm going to see if I can find xmas gifts and winter boots. I was hoping to see a friend but she has an exam then has plans .... boo-urns.
Then I have baking to do Saturday evening.

Sunday we're having family come for a house warming! I picked up brownies and I'm making scones. I have lots of tea, so I'm going to set everything out on our table for people to pick at/snack on. I'm pretty excited for people to see our place.

Other than that, hopefully our weekend isn't too busy - even though that sounds busy lmao!
  • Hugs, Mrs.Conn, for you and H. I feel like the helpless feeling of not being able to help H when he's upset is almost worse than being the one who is upset. I hope family helps get through this weekend.

Ugh, Cat, glad you worked it out, but that would have pissed me right off.

H's brother is working with him today and they left the house at 4:30 this morning. I may make them both dinner when they get back. BIL doesn't really ever eat "real" food so he likes when I cook.

I'm currently debating whether or not I should starve most of the day and then stop for sushi on my way home from work at 2:00. Hmmmmm....

  • @ShesSoCold thank you! He said "I said WE need to stop letting him nap" and I said, "Okay, but when it's ME who's home with him, you mean ME when you say WE."

  • @DrillSergeantCat  That would have pissed me off too! Is there a compromise? Like let him sleep a bit so he's not whiny but not as long so it's easier to put him to bed? Does your H forget you're also pregnant so dealing with whiny toddler isn't easy? {not that it'd be easy if you weren't lol}

    @ShesSoCold  I vote starve {or small snacking?} then sushi! It's Friday ;)
  • @MisskittyDanger, wow - I wouldn't know what to do with myself if my paycheck wasn't regular! That's crazy that they can do that to their employees.

I have tickets to go see Nick Swardson tonight with some good friends of mine.  I'm sure it'll be a blast and hilarity will pursue.

Sunday is my BFF's baby shower.  The one where I didn't know if I should host or not but her sisters stepped up and hosted.  Thank goodness!

  • @CharmedPam  The past year-ish things have just gone nuts. We're in a good place to wait, but some of his other coworkers aren't. One of them even commented "Well I guess I'm not doing groceries this week" and that just irked me so bad. I told M to gtfo before shit goes belly up!
  • I didn't wind up getting stitches yesterday.  Which is great on the one hand! I've never had stitches and the idea kind of freaks me out.  But on the other hand I feel like an absolute dumbass for spending all damn day (11 AM to 4 PM) sitting in the ER only to walk away with literally a bandaid on my arm.  When I finally did get seen the doctor said he would recommend two or three stitches, but that it was mainly for cosmetic rather than medical reasons.  I don't care one iota whether I have a big scar on my elbow so I decided not to have them do it.

It's supposed to snow this afternoon.  I've been a big slacker and I haven't finalized our snow removal service for the winter, so I have to get that taken care of ASAP.  FI comes back from his work trip to the Virgin Islands late tomorrow; when he left it was in the 60s here and when he comes back it will be in the 20s with snow on the ground.  Poor guy!  It's 85 where he is.

Tonight I have a skype date with my best friend who lives far away.  He and his wife have been having a pretty crummy couple of weeks, so hopefully the conversation isn't to depressing.  (Loss of pets, election results--particularly since they are both very visibly queer, family troubles.)
  • hugs conn.

My neighbor's mother just passed.  She's having a bit of a rough time so she just spent the morning sharing coffee and doing a brain dump.

It's supposed to be 70 today!  I'm paying some bills, doing some work, then having a picnic at the park with the kids.  Tonight we're dumping stuff from 6let's room to get ready to paint.  We've been here 5 years and the most we've done is tape stuff to his walls.

Tomorrow we're buying paint and going to 6let's indoor soccer game.  The rest of the weekend is painting.

It's supposed to snow this weekend.  After 70 today.
  • @MissKittyDanger I told him that I'd try to cut him back to only half an hour, but this is the first time he's done that. Last week he slept for an hour and a half and still went to bed at his normal time.

Your H needs to get the hell off that sinking ship.
  • @DrillSergeantCat oh I would have been so pissed! That sounds like something DH would say without thinking. Glad you guys were able to work things out.

Hugs to you and your family @mrsconn23. That would be so hard :(

I've only been at work 1 day this week and I already feel like I've been here all week long. Ugh. Tomorrow I need to buy groceries and do some laundry and cleaning. I have a housewarming party to go to tomorrow afternoon.

Sunday will be church and then a "Friendsgiving" that some of my good friends are hosting. I'm always down for an excuse to eat Thanksgiving food more than once :)

  • @DrillSergeantCat  ahh! Hopefully something works :\ Your kid was up later than me last night lmfao!
Yup. I have told him I'm done with playing nice and either tonight or tomorrow, he's on those resumes and sending them out. I even hunted for a few places for him to help out lol
  • Weekend plans are a play tomorrow afternoon and dinner with friends after that.  At least I hope we are able to do that much as DH fell on Tuesday night and dislocated his hip.

Tuesday night we went to bed early and he got up about 10 PM to use the bathroom and fell.  He pulled himself up on the end of the bed but then fell again as he took a few steps.  I was unable to get him up and we ended up calling 911.  Firemen came and helped him up to a chair but his left leg was tingling and he couldn't move it like he should.  Ambulance came and took him to ER.  X-rays showed his left hip was out of place.  They decided to take him to an OR to put it back in place under anesthesia.  He was in the hospital overnight and came home Wednesday afternoon with a hip abduction brace and a walker.  He's off work until at least 12/5 when he has a follow up appointment.

  • @MissKittyDanger your H needs to RUN!!! I have been in that same situation before. My company has been late on paying us twice in the 6 months I've been here and I fully expect it to happen again. That's not a good sign at all!

@MNNEBride ouch!!! Your poor H. I hope he heals up soon! That sounds so painful.

I'm jealous of all you ladies with snow in the forecast. High of 79 today for us and no sign of temps cold enough for snow any time soon. We are supposed to get rain next week though. I'm hoping and praying that we actually do. We need it so bad to help put the fires out!

  • That's crazy @MNNEBride, hope he's feeling better soon.

We have an interesting weekend coming up. The MOH from my wedding (who at one point was my best friend and we were as close as sisters until some serious shit happened around my and her wedding) is coming into town tomorrow. Her and her H are going to Cincinnati (from Buffalo) and are stopping in Toledo to say hi and we're all going to get lunch and they can see the house. I'm glad to see them, but really our friendship is just not like it was, and I'd be happier just running into them when we're home, or meeting with a group, not having something where we're one on one. I should have been an adult and told her I wasn't into this plan, but I didn't.

At least H and I are going to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Saturday night.
  • @thefanciestbeckler  Oh I know. I told him last night that I was afraid of the company going belly up and him being out of a job. We split most of the bills but he is a higher income, and we can't really afford for him to lose his job right now. It's scary.
  • @DrillSergeantCat, I would be LIVID if DH said anything like that.  My mouth probably would have gotten the best of me, and I'd probably have said something really stupid.

@MNNEBride hope your H feels better soon.

    And, hugs @mrsconn23.

More unpacking this weekend, some grocery shopping, and just trying to stay busy.  Looking more and more like I am going to have to put some time in at work this weekend.  Joy, of joys.

Hopefully, H will get the TV mounted so we can have a toasty fire and hot cocoa this weekend.  Temps are supposed to drop to more fall-like weather (finally).  He wants to take Hiccup to the state park near our house.  He believes that if we keep her active, she'll start to find her new normal (it has certainly been working for me).  But it's not the time we're home to entertain her that I worry about, it's the 10-12 hours she's home alone.  Still, though, it can't hurt, and it's been a really long time since we've been able to do things like this with her.  Plusandalso, fall colors.

Oh, and we still need to buy a dog door.  Lowe's is the only place that carries the size we need (storm door with jumbo doggy door), but it has to be "custom ordered" and @GBCK's horror stories are giving me the FUCK IT LET'S JUST CUT A HOLE IN THE WALL ideas.

  • Holy shit @MNNEBride!

I'm glad your H is OK.  What a week for you!
  • @mrsconn23 hugs, this has got to be a tough weekend for all of you.

@MNNEBride oh my gosh!  I'm glad he's okay and hope his hip heals quickly.  That had to be terrifying.

@MissKittyDanger your H needs a new job as bad as @thefanciestbeckler does!

Last night we attended our local Democratic Club meeting and it was awesome.  It was our second meeting, third event and I just love it more every time.  75% of the people there were first timers, and most of the meeting was spent sharing our fears and frustrations and then brainstorming what we can do today to start creating change.  Since quitting politics in 2005, election day is hard every year because I miss my work having a purpose.  I signed up last night to help with recruitment and it feels good to feel like I may do something that matters.  I thought this city was super conservative so it's great to find like minded people.

I just took my best friend to the airport and halfway home I started to feel ill.  I think it's because I had SBux so my sugar is high and am hoping this goes away soon.  I have to work a Holiday Party for the caterer tonight.  Tomorrow we see some friends who moved to Germany and then Sunday is the Lions game, and we have tickets in the 28th row off of the 40 yard line.  It will be pimp.

  • @mrsconn23  - hugs.

    @MNNEBride - Yikes.  Here's to your H's having a speedy recovery.

I need to go to the bank today.  However, I mistakenly thought it was suppose to be in the 50's today. So I told DH I didn't need the car I would just walk to the bank (just over a mile away).  Well, the high is only in the 30's. (tomorrow it warms up).  Currently it's 25.   At least it's sunny.  I'm trying to get motivated to go.   It's not working.

DH is now a Costco addict.   We have been just using a friend's card.  Tomorrow we are going to get our own.   Mind you Costco is an hour from our house.  So that will kill sometime time for us.    This is DH's last free weekend until the end of March.  I feel like we should do something.   His leg isn't healed enough to go hiking.  So that's out.    Well, out as a couple's thing to do, I might still go on my own.

I love Costco too, @lyndausvi.  However since we're already on the home delivery meal system, I'm not sure if and when I'd use it.  then again we have 4 other nights of meals to make and I could buy chicken and veggies in bulk to use on the cast iron skillet I'll be getting for Christmas.....

edit:  and the raspberries in bulk are pretty much gone in one day for me (but sometimes not any cheaper than other stores)

Funny you mentioned that.   Almost 2 weeks ago was our first trip and we bought a Ninja blender system.  I bought a huge bag of a mix of raspberries, blueberries and blackberries for smoothies.    I discovered quickly I hate those berries.  Well, maybe not hate, but do not like them in large quantities and definitely not all together in a smoothie.   I like pineapple, banana, mango and strawberries more.    So now I have this huge bag that I doubt will be used.

I might pick other fruits though.

  • If you were my husband, what would you want on the side of sausage and spinach stuffed portabellos for dinner? Potatoes? Macaroni and cheese?

Potatoes au gratin!  But my H hates potatoes, and I'm deprived.

My DH would like Mac-n-cheese.       He even buys sausage stuffed with mac-n-cheese.

    I'm going potatoes because I feel like mac & cheese would be too heavy {as delicious as it is}
  • Hugs to the Conn family this weekend.

    Speedy Recovery to MNNE's H

DSC - I can't believe what your H said.  Glad you were able to talk it out!

I'm just now getting to post for the day!  It was a hectic morning here and I was trying to straighten out something that were filed all the way back in 2007, before I even worked on this particular case.  But I got it worked out.  Then H texted me that he was close by and did I want to grab an early lunch - heck yeah!

I'm hoping the remainder of the day is not as crazy.  We will see.  Only 2 1/2 hours left!

Last night was good.  I ate a whole box of mac n cheese (my odd pregnancy craving) for dinner and it was just SOOOOOOO good!  It made for a happy baby and mama!

I also got to take my niece shopping for her birthday gift.  And many of the things they were selling now in the juniors was what was in style when I was her age.  Plaid shirts are back in style apparently.  She picked out a cute top that had some female Disney villains on the front and then "Not Sorry" across the top.  She then got a new pair of jeans.  She was very excited and best of all - everything happened to be on clearance!

Tonight I'm taking the $5 community yoga class at the school I go to.  Anyone is allowed to show up for the class.  Its once a month and different styles of yoga are shown on a beginners level.  Tomorrow my H wants to finish up the final skim coat on the bathroom so we can start painting very soon.  Then on Sunday my aunt and uncle are stopping over for a bit.  They will drop off the turkey for me to cook (they always qualify for a free one from the supermarket).  And my uncle will show us how to put together the sectional they gave us all the way back in April!  Then H has some hours to put in at the office on Sunday afternoon, which will add to his bank of comp time for when the baby arrives.

  • So speaking of needing a new job, apparently all hell broke loose while I was on vacation and I missed out on a bunch of drama.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I have a coworker with kidney disease and emphysema, and my boss is intentionally doing things to get her to quit because he's mad that she has to go to the doctor frequently. We'll call her M. My boss's plan was to move M to the lowest paying position in the company in hopes that she would quit. Well. He hired someone to take M's position and never even talked to her about it. New girl started a couple of weeks ago and he was trying to get everyone to be all hush-hush about the fact that she was hired to replace M.

OBVIOUSLY that didn't work, because M has a brain and realized what was going on immediately. She got super upset and left work because she couldn't stop crying. The next day, she called in sick. My boss called her and chewed her out. M got really pissed off and called him "shady" (which he is), a liar (which he is), and "the worst manager ever" (which he is). They got into a screaming match on the phone that was apparently so loud that the entire office could hear. As a result, M got put on probation. She has 15 days to "straighten up" or else she's fired.

Now, I'm not saying she handled the situation appropriately, because she obviously didn't. But she is totally justified in being pissed. I should also add that she is not the first person who has walked out or got into screaming matches with my boss, yet nobody else has ever been put on probation. Discrimination, much?

I'm telling you, you can't make this shit up. More fuel for my job-hunting fire.
