OK.  JMHO - after seeing maybe 100 wedding programs.

    JYHO does not constitute "etiquette."

@CMGragain, you give great advice but your experience doesn't mean the same as proper etiquette.   We all know that tone is hard to interpret in written context but this sounds to me like you're saying, "Well this is just my opinion but what do I know - I've only seen 100 wedding programs (eyeroll eyeroll eyeroll)."

I think we both know that you can do things both differently AND still be within the bounds of etiquette.      After all, where you come from you would have said that my 2:00 wedding would lead to a tea and punch reception and instead we hosted our guests with a full dinner.
No, it is always OK to offer your guests more than they expect.
    No eyerolls.

  • Actually, I think I will take a break for a while.  I need some calm in my life right now.  See you later, friends.

  • @GMGragain, get rested and hope to see you here, soon.

  • We (aka DH) designed our programs, and then we had them printed at Staples on nice paper.

It included the names of our parents and WP. The order of the ceremony, including the titles/authors of any readings. It also included a short description of what to expect after the ceremony, something like, "Please enjoy cocktails after the ceremony, dinner will begin at 6pm"; I think it can be nice to know something like this, as the invitation itself will only say, "Reception to follow". On the back we also had a general thank you, "Thank you to our friends and family for all their love and support, we couldn't have had this day without you" (something like that).

I will keep wedding programs (for my sentimental things album), but I know most people don't keep the program.

They are completely unnecessary, so your choice. If you do get some, I don't think you need one per person. One per couple would suffice.
