I'm just trying to decide if I'm disgusting or not. (barring any illness or other issues)

Re: How often do you change sheets?

  • Once a week, but now that we have a pet I'd like for it to be more often than that. I just need to get a job so I can buy more sets of my nice sheets. I'm a sheet snob.

  • I aim for once a week but it can be up to 2 weeks.

  • I voted for the last one.  I try to remember to do it every 2 weeks, but I suck.  So, yeah...if I look at my bed and think, "When did I last change sheets?", it's time.
  • I voted the typical amount, but right now that's because we only have 2 fitted sheets. In summer I tend to wash sheets more because it's warm and M is a sweaty dude lmao
  • I aim to change/wash every 2 weeks. The comforter and duvet cover though - that's another story.
  • I voted for the last one. I really should do it more often. It's probably once a month or so.
  • I voted for every 2 weeks because that's what I think it should be.  It ends up being way more than that because we have dog....issues.  For example, our Boston barfed in the bed this morning.  Voila - Monday morning became sheet-cleaning day.

  • @Ro041 my kid puking last night was part of what prompted this.  I was happy it at least happened on sheet week.

Every 2 weeks is about all the energy I can muster for 4 beds.  The kids help by taking stuff off, but it's hard for the little ones to help put it back on.  DH once complained it wasn't enough so I told him to have at it.  He did bedding once and it was only ours.

  • Currently I change them every week because I am a sucker for a crisply-made bed. I have a feeling this will become every two weeks once Beans is born.
  • I do it every 2 weeks or so. I would love to think that I do it more frequently than that, but I always forget and I hate putting the sheets back on the bed.

  • Not as often as we should!
  • I use to change the sheets every two weeks. When DS2 was diagnosed with allergies, the allergist said to change them a minimum of once a week. Now I'm in the habit even though we are empty nesters.

  • i shoot for weekly, but it can be up to 2. it just depends on how busy we are and if anyone hasn't been feeling well. (even if it's migraines, if i've been in bed more often, i try to swap them out more frequently.

i'm that awful person that tells hotels to swap them every day or every other day. i love fresh sheets - it's just not practical at home.
  • i'll also add that i do pillowcases (at least mine) every few days because I have combo skin and always use products - so i've noticed it helps prevent breakouts.

  • I voted for the last ...it's probably just under once a month  :| although in my defense, we usually have sex in the living room or the shower (sorry for the TMI) and I change my toddlers' sheets as often as needed (so like 3x a week).

I should do this -- I also have combination skin. Thanks for the tip!
  • I shoot for every weekend, but sometimes life gets in the way.  *Barbie* you make a good point, and I should be more aware of my pillowcase washings.

We only do laundry every 2-3 weeks, so it's at least that, maybe more if we run out of time.  But I do try to throw the pillow cases in with the whites every time to fill up more of the machine.

  • I thought my laundry every week was impressive. Every 2-3 weeks?
  • I wash them every other week.

This stems from living in the islands where electric was very expensive and water was from a cistern and we could go weeks without rain.  Saved the water for showers.     Actually they are in the washer right now.  I should do it more often, but never got out of the habit.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • This is making me think I have no idea when was the last time I changed the guest room sheets.

The rescue dog uses the guest room as his bed.  I have Mack sheets and guest sheets.  I wash Mack's sheets once a month or whenever I have to change the sheets for guests.

  • i only do the guest beds when we actually have guests coming.
  • oh yeah, I will wash the guest bed sheets usually when someone leaves - unless I Know they're coming back soon.  Then they can use the same sheets.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. Lol.

  • I plan on doing our sheets once my husband stops being sick.  Its about time anyway, as we average once every 2-3 weeks depending on how hot/sweaty we are at night.  The guest room gets a fitted sheet for the cats and real sheets for the guests.  I will typically launder the guest sheets the following weekend and then just use the spare fitted again until someone else is coming over.  I have no shame in my single set of guest room linens!
  • I would wash sheets every day if I could. Love fresh sheets! I currently do once per week. I only do 4 total loads of laundry a week as that was my new years resolution a few years ago. One for sheets, one for towels, one for dryer clothes and one for non dryer clothes.
  • Fresh sheets are my jam. But I haaaaate making our bed. The mattress sits down in the side slats so I literally have to lift the whole mattress up off the frame to tuck the sheets in. YUGE design flaw.

Still change those things once a week though most of the time. When H is traveling for work, once every 2 weeks because no sex and I usually shower at night.

We don't have kids, DH is a shopaholic and I have been known to buy new underwear/socks to avoid washing, so I have more than enough to get me that long between washes.
