Here we go again!

How was the weekend??

Saturday was divide and conquer.  I took 6let to soccer where he won both games and got to the championship game. He played AMAZING- only let in 2 goals (that he couldn't have stopped) and scored one.

DH took Max to his first ever tball game.  That little stinker hit twice off of a coach's pitch.  DH took him to lunch to celebrate after and apparently Max was telling the waitress all about his game- it was his first, there are no winners or losers at his age, etc.

Then we all met up at 6let's baseball. I dropped him off an went to park.  By the time I got back to the field he was running across home plate.  His team of ragamuffins (seriously they were terrible in practice, 6let took a ball to the head because of it) got their second win of the season.

Saturday night was burgers and fries and corn on the cob.  6let exclaimed "Life is Good."  That's all I needed for Mother's Day

Sunday was church then one more soccer game.  The previous two tournaments our kids won one total game.  This tournament they won it all!  The final score was 6-1.  And the snot in me- in the fall we had guest players from another team.  I heard more than one parent "these kids are awful" "I'm afraid my kid will pick up bad habits" "I'm never playing with these kids again."  That team took 4th in the same tournament.  They lost 1-0 to the team we smoked.  eff them.

Re: Here we go again!

  • This weekend was good. On Saturday I did Mother's Day with my Mom and Grandma. It was nice to see them. Then SO's sister and her bf came over later that night and we made tacos. Yesterday I skipped out on my dad's family's shindig because I can't stand that side of the family and life is too short for that nonsense. SO's sister and I went on a hike instead and got our nails done, and then I made steaks for dinner and we played some games. It was a lot of fun.

Today is homework and cleaning. I inexplicably woke up at 3:30 and have been up ever since. It's also too early to get up without waking SO up.  Guess I'll sleep really well tonight. I'm debating if I should go to the gym today or take a day off. So, SSDD basically.

  • Oh 6!! That is so awesome!! Congrats 6let and Max! Sounds like a wonderful weekend!

@levioosa I would take a hike and pedi over family drama any day. Smart choice.

DH and I got into tiff about children on Friday. He wanted me to say Yes or No but I am a firm Either would be fine. It blew his mind that I, a lady in my 30s, don't know whether or not I want kids. It blew over but still. Saturday, we lounged around. Yesterday, he worked and I picked up a little.

Today was SSDD. I made cabbage roll soup and I hope DH likes it.

  • I get the same reaction from a friend of mine @missJeanLouise who doesn't get why I don't know. I'm not a strong no, or a strong yes. I don't understand how that's not a valid perspective.

Weekend was great. We got in to Buffalo Friday afternoon, hung out with my sister and her H and spent tons of time with the baby. She's up over 9 pounds now and growing like crazy. Saturday was MIL's surprise party; the restaurant was quite possibly the best meal I've ever had. Yesterday was more family time with brunch with my sister and Mom. We ended up driving back last night because our hotel room sucked and just wanted to sleep in our own bed.

Today is finally finishing the bathroom!
  • Woohoo to the 6 kids!!  That's awesome.

Our weekend was pretty good.  There was a snafu with my mom's present, but it got worked out.  Friday, we went out to dinner.  Saturday, we had dinner with my parents.

Yesterday, was glorious.  We had nowhere to go. DH made an excellent breakfast.  He then took the kids to the cemetery to visit his mom's grave and gave me some alone time.   The rest of the day was pretty relaxing.  I got a GC to my fave boutique, a 'best mom' coffee mug, and a headband thing.

I didn't sleep well at all last night.  :/ Go go gadget coffee.

  • Those pictures are adorable @kvruns! Your dad looks so happy.
  • Your dad and baby are the cutest @kvruns!!!  <3
  • @kvruns They are so cute! I love babies in little sunnies!
  • @6fsn  congrats to 6let and team!!

    @kvruns  aww too cute!

Dragging my damn ass today because I've been up since 4am.

Friday was pretty lowkey. We did groceries, I picked up new polish options for Sunday and we didn't do much else.

Saturday M had a buddy over to do something. After he left we went to get a hand saw and do dollarama stuff before people came over.
Sens won in OT vs Pens

Saturday morning I woke up because I was thirsty at 3am .... couldn't fall back asleep until 5am. Was up again at 8am and gave up.

Sunday we slept in. Went to my mum's place for about noon-ish. I picked up snacks for us because she didn't wanna go out to eat. I grabbed smoked salmon, Starbucks drinks and red velvet cheese cake.
I had previously got her skin care, but she decided not to open anything until Mother's Day. I did her nails and used her nail care stuff on her.

My granny came over {my mum spent Saturday with her} and was just in a really sad mood because 2 of my mum's brothers basically did jack-all for her. She was really hurt.
One said "oh we'll do something next year" My mum was pretty appalled by that. My granny is 76yrs old. She's fine now but why would you risk something and just celebrate the next year? I'm pretty pissed too. She doesn't expect a big deal, but even if they brought her a tea and stayed for a few minutes - that's all she wants. Guhh

M ended up picking me up, and actually my granny called later on. She gets a lot of coons, so she sets live traps so they'll go in and then get released into a field away from her place. They're destroying under her place, like wiring, etc.
Since M was there, he offered to go pick up the coon and take it to a field.
    We did that.

I crashed pretty early, but there was a coon fight on our roof then one fell off. He was fine, but this was 4am. I could NOT fall back asleep so by 5:15am I opted to just get up. I'm likely gonna pass out at 7pm lmao

@misskittydanger you need some good sleep!  that's sad that your uncles didn't do anything for granny :(  Things like that just made me sad
  • @kvruns, awwwwwww! What a handsome pair!

So the weekend was bad.  Saturday, we sat at Sports Clips for DH's much overdue haircut foreeeeeeverrrr because they got a new computer system which could do everything but print receipts, and some asshole held everyone up for literally 45 minutes because he HAD TO HAVE A RECEIPT for an $18 haircut. Which of course tied up all the hair stylists because they apparently have some company policy where they have to check out their own customers.... And DH was the next one in line.

Guardians was good. Best part of the weekend.

Then we got home, DH wanted to burn, I said, "Not today, tomorrow," and then I got a call from work which meant I worked yesterday.

So I worked all morning and some of the afternoon, came home to find DH had burned without me, and I got bent out of shape because it was gorgeous and I wanted to read outside but DH didn't because he "did that all morning."  A lot of the sting was hormones, but I was still a little hurt that he did a together activity without me and then, after I'd put in almost a full day of work, he didn't want to do what I wanted because he already did it. So I was a little pouty and called GMIL and my mom for mother's day and felt better.

AND THEN I got a lecture from DH's aunt about how I needed to "congratulate" BIL/SIL on the birth of their child (which I had already done via text to BIL several days before) and how she expects me to be the bigger, more mature person, so I lashed out about how I already had despite my better judgment, that it's inappropriate to expect or require me to do anything, and that my feelings are valid and they don't make me any less adult or diminish my maturity... And she said, "well I've heard you were really mean to BIL when you guys were roommates." Which stunned me into silence because BIL had been my best friend in grad school, and this shit storm meant I lost a brother AND a friend, so IDK WTF that came from but it plunged me into an even lower low.  And then she asked if we were going to the christening which we haven't been invited to (yet, probably never) and refused to believe me when I told her I was on call that weekend, but we'd decide IF we were invited. AND THEN asked when she could come visit.

So I said to hell with everything and opened a bottle of wine.

Right!? My mum's gonna try talking to her brothers and smarten them tf up. Family drama. *sigh*

And tbh I think with crazy weather changes, that might be affecting my sleep. I usually get a migraine though.
  • @atomicblonde, I'm sorry it was such a bad weekend!  Especially the part about your BIL :(.

H and I had a pretty nice weekend.  We went on a marathon grocery shopping trip on Saturday.  It was supposed to be just "picking up a few things" that we couldn't get from our Costco trip a few days ago.  It ended up going hog wild.

Then, later in the day, I had a cute Vera Bradley wristlet to pick up from Harrahs and we took the opportunity to have dinner at the buffet, since I had a coupon for two free buffets.  They had a Pho station!  Yums.  That was the highlight of my meal.

Sunday was just relaxing, didn't do too much.

  • Saturday I took my mom to lunch, which was super yummy, relaxing, and fun. Yesterday H was going to take me to brunch, but he didn't realize it's the busiest restaurant day of the year, so he didn't make reservations anywhere. After driving around the South Shore for almost 90 minutes, we said screw it and went to Whole Foods and picked up some strawberries, OJ, and brioche and made cinnamon brioche french toast. OMG SO GOOD.

Then, because it was raining cats and dogs and I was tired from all the driving, we put our sweatpants on and curled up on the couch with the puppy and watched Lion and bawled our eyes out because that is one amazing movie.

Today my coworker was supposed to come back from paternity leave, but he didn't, and we are not sure when he is coming back. And then one of the junior members on my team gave her notice. And we are already short staffed. So I'm about ready to call it a day and go home.
  • Side note: Since M is paying extra in June to the house, I opted to do some stuff for myself. I love the Gossip Girl series and I truly regret giving away all my books, because it's taken me nearly a year to get the first 5 on kobo {cost me $50 ffs} But I got them and I am happy. I also decided to order tops from Dresslily. Never used them before but I saw a cute top advertised on facebook, opted to look at spent $50 online lmfao! Then it says "order will be there in 15-30 days"
    Thanks ....

At the end of the month, M and I are going on a date. I'm craving crepes so we're doing breakfast then Guardians 2
  • @NiceKindaSpice pix?? Of your dress and/or the flowers :) your brother and sister's gift is so creative! I bet your mom was so surprised!
  • @kvruns I love those pics of your dad and the baby!!

@NiceKindaSpice pictures! Pictures! Pictures! please :)

  • @NiceKindaSpice ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!
  • @kvruns, so so so cute! Love it.
@atomicblonde, why is it like pulling teeth for men to get their hair cut?  It takes 10 minutes and usually costs under $20.  Women would LOVE a cut under $20 that didn't take up half their day! LOL (oh, I used to go to the beauty school and a hair cut for a student WAS 2 hours.....but I'm cheap).

This weekend was awesome.  Scratched off a bucket list line of mine and we saw Rent: 20th anniversary tour.  It was freaking amazing.  I used to wear out my CD years ago and always wanted to go so it was awesome.  Plus we had good seats PLUS no big head in the way.  Restored my faith for the musical industry.

We wanted to eat downtown since Chicago has a lot of good and unique places, but the theater district sucks (there's a nice Italian place, but we're not Italian foodies). Why are the choices so lame with so much foot traffic in that area?  anyway we drove half way home and found a gem of a place through my restaurant. com cert (read above: I'm cheap).

  • @NiceKindaSpice your dress is breathtaking!

My H and I had the same problem in NYC!  We went to a late Broadway show and planned to get dinner afterwards.  I didn't have a specific place in mind, but figured we stroll around the area and pick a restaurant.  I was looking forward to it!  I mean, it's NYC, hard to go wrong with food.

Every restaurant was either already closed or just closing!  So much for the city that never sleeps, lol.  I'm sure real New Yorkers know where to go for a late night dinner in the theatre district, but this tourist gal didn't stumble across anything.

I spent the weekend at a lake a few hours away for my grandfathers family reunion. I met my mom and SD, aunts and uncles there and we all had a nice relaxing weekend. I thought I'd get much needed sleep in a hotel bed by myself but I kept waking up about every hour, I think it was to quiet, lol.

I used to stay in the theatre district for work years ago and it always felt like the whole area was shut down after 6pm. Granted that was mostly on weekdays but still even when I've visited on weekends I haven't had luck with food
