Wedding favors and charitable donation??

My fiance and I decided to do small little favors for our guests (mini jars of jam/preserves in cute packaging.)It's very inexpensive because I wanted to have most of the "favor " budget to go towards my favorite local animal rescue charity. It's a cause that's very near and dear to my heart.

Is it silly to do both favors and a charitable donation? Some people have told me to pick one or the other but I'd really like to do both. Since the donation wouldn't be in lieu of favors, how would you word the plaque announcing that a donation has been made as well? Just looking for some suggestions:-)

  • Do favors and make a donation but you also don't have to announce that you made a donation. Just make the donation. IMO, it's a bit tacky to be like "hey look how much of a saint I am. I donated to a good cause, look at me I'm awesome." Just donate and don't make mention of it. No one needs to know.
