I can't even - TR

Yes, I made up a new acronym - TR:  Trump Related.

This morning, per the usual, I woke up and turned on my local news/Today Show combo and heard the following:  "Trump makes a big announcement about his replacement FBI Director.  He tweeted this morning....."

So this is it, he gets criticized for his irresponsible tweeting and decides to double down on his tweeting using it for his important announcements from now on.

I typically hate the twitter stories about this guy, but his judgement is so flawed that I can't even with this today.

  • Well Spicer did say this week that the President's tweets should be considered presidential statements.

I'm pretty sure he feels that way about all sorts of people.  He's a real life Gaston, that one.

Yeah!  I was reading about that.  And a group is questioning if Trump can be allowed to "block" people on his Twitter account, because one could argue it is impeding their free speech.

According to the article I read, there is a POTUS twitter account that Obama used and now Trump can use.  But Trump usually uses his personal Twitter that was set up well before his presidency.  He has not blocked any users on the POTUS account, but he has for his personal account.

TBH, I was initially a bit on Trump's side for that.  He shouldn't be able to block people on the POTUS twitter account, but could for his personal one.  Though I morally think that is lousy for him to do.

But then, I read Spicer's statement that tweets should be considered presidential statements.  And I changed my mind.  If he wants to use social media to issue presidential statements from his personal Twitter account (cue major eyeroll), then he can't block people.

I did want to add for clarification, though I'm sure most of you know this.  A blocked person can still read Trump's tweets, they just can't post a response back on his Twitter feed.

  • I think people grossly  misunderstand "free speech". The constitution literally says "Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech..."

Morally and politically, I do not think politicians, especially those who represent ALL Americans, should cherry pick people who support them and shut out those who don't. *AHEM* Trump's motus operandi... But it's not a violation of the law or free speech, IMO. Those people can still practice their free speech on Twitter or anywhere else and they won't get arrested for it (unless they're violating others' rights).

  • Oh but also, I saw that someone created a bot that puts Trump's tweets into Presidential statement format. It does make you stop and think how ridiculous and unprecedented this president really is. And by "you" I mean people who have brains.

I just popped in to wish everyone a very merry Comey Eve.  Who knows what bright, shiny gifts await us beginning tomorrow?  Throw Trump's live tweeting into the mix, and let's just say, I'm trying to get as much off my desk today as humanly possible.

I hope trump is exercising his thumbs right now and that he live tweets the shit out of this. Implicate yourself, moron.

But you know his staff is basically scheduling the shit out of him so that he's "busy". Either that or they are fashioning a straight jacket made from gold thread as we speak.

Sadly, I'm not holding my breath for this. Comey may be a disgruntled ex-employee, but I don't think he has the balls to throw the President under the bus.

You're probably right. But I am naively clinging to hope right now.

I'm sure Comey knows how powerful he is right now. Like this one dude can tip the scale on the leader of the free world. People in positions of power are probably chomping at the bit to get their hands on him and/or their money in his pockets. Have I been watching too much House of Cards? Probably..  :D

Where have you been?!  COME BACK TO US!  ;)  And YAS, tomorrow is going to be something else.  I'm currently watching HoC and Underwood seems like a puppy, LMAO.

I don't even watch House of Cards but I'm pretty sure his testimony is going to be just enough to make the Dems happy and not enough to piss off the GOP.  Whoever lines up the best job offer for him will be the ones who get the most out of his testimony.

  • I want him to totally go off script and be like "well here's the real story. The administration knew exactly what they were doing. Directly asked me to shelve the Russian probe, and here I recorded everything". A woman can dream, right?
  • @charlotte989875 Vox is trying really hard to convince people that's the plan.

Vox's description for this article on my phone was something to the effect of "Comey's prepared statement for Congress is so detailed and dramatic, it reads like a novel."

Short summary: Comey not reading prepared statement, defending the FBI & people who work there, said Trump lied about him, says he has not doubt Russia meddled in he 2016 election.

More interesting than I thought it'd be.
  • I'm out on calls all day with a product manager whose an uber republican so I'm missing all the fun!

  • I'm watching.  Wow, Comey is pretty pissed.  I don't blame him, but I think it's pretty clear that he is very unhappy about the entire situation and not pulling any punches.

Paraphrasing, but "If he wasn't doing anything wrong, why did he ask everyone but me to leave?"  Shady AF.
  • I also believe that Comey stuck around because he wanted to give Trump enough rope to hang himself with.  Just my personal opinion.
  • Comey canceled date night because Trump wanted to have dinner with him. LOL.  Sorry, Mrs. Comey.

    I'd say that's a legit excuse.

Right?  "Sorry honey, I have to go expose government corruption.  Tomorrow?"

  • Every time we come back to Comey taking notes on his Trump meetings.

  • Does John McCain sound SUPER old and kind of out of it, or is it just me?
