Wedding Woes

What A Wednesday!

What a Wednesday! And it's only 7am.

PA came to talk to me this am (still waiting to talk to the attending physician - apparently there were a LOT of babies born here last night!) I'm still here - have a regularly scheduled weekly ultrasound this morning at Maternal Fetal Medicine and at some point a plan will be devised.

There's possible talk of me being kept here until I deliver, but I would prefer that doesn't happen. While my blood pressure has gotten to more favorable levels while I've been here, I've still had headaches that are concerning them. However, I got 3 hours of sleep total yesterday (including a nap) and 6 hours total last night, so I feel like the headaches I'm having here are related to lack of sleep and the ones I had before were related to the pressure I'm under at work. But I have a B.S. in Journalism, so clearly I'm no medical expert.

i would prefer to go home for a few days, get rest, gather myself, and come back to be induced than stay here. So that's what I'm going to lobby hard for - wish me luck!

What's going on in your neck of the woods??

Re: What A Wednesday!

  • Advocate for yourself as much as you can @sparklepants41?  Not saying ignore medical advice, but you know what you're feeling better than anyone else and if something does or doesn't feel right make sure you speak up (way easier said than done, I know). Is the house ready (as much as it can be) for SparkleBaby if you have to stay?

Still feeling like a fish out of water and work. I'm not totally sure what I'm supposed to be doing and yesterday I was just left to fend for myself, which was fine because I got a ton of background research done, but I'm still feeling like I'm not sure what I should be doing.

H went back to Ohio yesterday to finish up the house. And I did yoga for the first time without hating it.

Good luck @sparklepants41 ! I can't imagine being on bedrest at the hospital until delivery. Hopefully they can let you go home if it is safe and just let you know what to look for should you need to come back in.

@charlotte989875 yoga without hating it? I didn't know that was possible. I know if I did it with regularity maybe I would like it but even when I used to go almost weekly it just wasn't for me

Oh I didn't go anywhere, I did it at my house. I used the Beachbody on Demand Yoga retreat videos. I've tried a bunch of different videos and gone to a number of classes and always hated it. My sister loves it and swears by it, maybe I just had to find the right program? That, or I'll hate it tomorrow.
  • @sparklepants41  yehhh sounds like you need sleep. Is it possible to push to go home if you're on bed rest? That way you're in comfortable spaces and can take it easy until you deliver?

@charlotte989875  you'll feel more comfortable soon :) you seem like a great person so I don't see it being long before it's better

    Pretty much SSDD here.
Yard should be dry enough tonight for M to clear it up. I have so much vacuuming to do. I have the upstairs to finish and then main floor to do. I've had to do the upstairs constantly because feels like there's small grains of sand from a couple weeks ago being at the beach. Such a pain to deal with .... then on main floor it's cat fur GALORE!! Why Penny .... why must you shed so much! Dear gawd ....

    M texted me while on my way home saying Angel had the crazies. {he's 11, this is rare but hilarious}
Apparently he'd run into the living room, skid, twitch and look around, then do the same to another room. Darted upstairs, almost fall on the stairs and skid around the upstairs.
LMFAO! Some days I worry about his health because he's getting older, then he does this and I'm like "nah, you're good"
  • SSDD.  Work is starting to settle in a bit, but that just feels like a precursor to hell, so I'm trying to stay on top of things still.  I'm thinking about taking Friday off.  K has an unexpected vacation and it'd be nice to surprise her with a day for us.

  • @sparklepants41 Good luck, I hope they let you go home! Obviously L&D will go much smoother for you if you're well rested, and it sounds like that's not happening for you at the hospital (I also can't sleep in hospitals :s )

@charlotte989875 How do you like the Beachbody videos? I've been looking for a good at home yoga video.

SSDD for me. My life is consumed by packing. My poor pup doesn't know what's going on haha. She just stares at me while I fill boxes. We're gonna have a BBQ up on our rooftop this Saturday (then we're loading the Uhaul Sunday, and on the road Monday morning!) so we'll get to see all of our in town friends one last time.

I've also been studying for my drivers test (embarrassing, I know). I've never needed it living in downtown Toronto, everywhere I need to go I can walk or subway. But since we're moving to the boonies, I figure I better get on it.
  • @sparklepants41, sorry to hear you're still in the hospital.  I'm fortunate to rarely get headaches, but lack of sleep will do it!  And being in a hospital is hardly restful.  It's not your own bed.  It's noisy, even in the middle of the night.  I really hope you get the green light to just go home.

@charlotte989875, I'm sure you'll find your stride soon at the new job!

@MissKittyDanger, I know the "cat crazies".  It is always so funny.  Like, out of nowhere, they just HAVE to be in the next room.  Then wildly look around.

My finances are looking so ugly for August.  Whomp-whomp.  It's just a bunch of things all at once.  No rent for July and probably none for August for that one unit I have vacant because of the eviction.  My H should be finishing the clean up and touch up painting today, so we can put an ad up.  But we'll need to buy some used appliances over the next few days.  That's going to be about $600.

I need to replace the convertible top on my car.  That's $2600 (yikes!!) in the trash.  Then we're going to Chicago for a week at the end of August.  At least that will be fun!  But it is also even more money out of pocket.  The a/c for one of our rental HVAC units hasn't been running properly.  My H is going to clean the coil and other parts today.  Hopefully that will do the trick.  I have wished so many times I'd just put window units in that particular duplex.  HVACs are so insanely expensive and break if you just look at them wrong.  Never again.

Long story short, I had originally been planning to do a cash-out refi loan this month for a fixer-upper (now fixed) I had bought with cash.  But I need to get my debt paid down more before I can do that.  I'll be lucky if August is just a wash for debt pay down.  I probably won't be able to do that refi loan until October.  Maybe even November.  It's just such a Catch-22.  My finances would ease up considerably with that refi.  But I'm not in a good position for that refi until I pay down some of my debt.  But if I already had it, some of those debts would already be paid off, lol.  Argh!  I'm just disappointed I'm having to push the refi out so far out from what I'd originally been planning.

My H hasn't had a driver's license in almost 15 years.  The majority of the time, it's fine.  We live in the heart of the city, so he is able to bike most places.  Or takes a bus, when needed.  And I've always had a car.  But it is sometimes really annoying and I've been nagging him for a few years to JUST GET HIS LICENSE.

This was his weirdness.  He moved here from Oregon and never bothered turning in his Oregon license to get one for Louisiana.  Until it expired.  Then he finally made the effort.  Only to find out that Oregon is one of the few states that will not "reciprocate" driving records.  Because of that, as far as LA was concerned, he was a brand new driver.  And has to do the whole 9 yards to get his license.  First, he has to take a driver's training class.  Then the written and driving tests at the OMV.  It's a PITA, so he's just never done it.

  • @short+sassy That's almost my exact situation. I DID have my licence, but it expired when I first moved to Toronto. Living here I've never needed it. In Ontario, if your license expires, you do have to start over, but you don't have to wait the mandatory waiting periods, so you can basically do all tests in one day if you wanted (and drivers training isn't mandatory here, although I did take it - 11 years ago..). Anyways, it IS mandatory in Saskatchewan (where I'm moving) and I'm not sure if they're going to make me start everything over, including the waiting periods because my licence has been expired for 5 years. I called and they basically said it's up to the person I get when I go into the licence office to make the call... which makes no sense to me, you'd think there'd be solid rules..

Sounds like it is time to start practicing your friendliest smile and "woe is me" story, lol.  But that is odd it isn't just a "set" procedure.

@MissKittyDanger Omg thats EXACTLY me too! FI says he's scared for when I get my licence because I have such bad road rage as a passenger lol.

ETA: Although, I was never this way til we moved to Toronto! I think it's just this city lol.

I have rage as a pedestrian also. There are 2 places I have told M and my mum that if I get hit by a car, they know where.
One is a parking lot. Like ffs people watch!
Second is at the lights near by. There is a YIELD space for people turning right so they don't have to wait for the light. I can literally stand there and watch 4 cars keep going and ignore the fact that they have to YIELD TO PEDESTRIANS! Or if I'm crossing, they BARELY stop or even slow down ....

    *shakes fist*
  • Hope you get to go home soon SparklePants!
@MissKittyDanger I love it when the animals get all crazy. I swear our little cat used to race herself, running from the upstairs window, around the corner, down the stairs, flying out the back door, and up a tree. Then she would come running back in and do it all over again. Too funny. When dog does it, we call it Zooming.

my week has been good. DH is out of town and it is just the break I needed. Not from him necessarily (though he does make a mess) but just a break from regular life. I scared myself silly the other night. I awoke with a start at 2:30am, it felt like someone shoved me awake and all I could recall from the dream I was having was getting a text that said there had been an accident. Then it was several hours before I could get a hold of DH. I was a mess.

  • @missJeanLouise  we had another cat growing up, he got it often - right up into his old age - and called it 'the runs' but with Angel it's 'the crazies' because there is a crazy look in his eye lmao!
My mum's cat gets 'the twitches' because she'll run into the middle of a room and start twitching and jumping about, then either stroll away or take off running

There are two intersections in my downtown exactly like what you are talking about.  They are usually heavy with both car and pedestrian traffic.  Disasters waiting to happen.

With my "taking pics of hotel event boards" p/t gig, I do a lot of driving in the tourist zone.  Pedestrians are a huge problem.  Even though I've seen it 100x, it is still astounding that people will just waltz across a busy street without even looking.  They need to take lessons from kindegartners.  Here's my snarky advice for tourists:

I know NOLA is a party city and you're on vacation.  Hope you're having a good time.  But I PROMISE you, physics works exactly the same way here as it does in wherever you are from.  And when you walk directly in front of my car traveling at 35MPH.  With a Hurricane cocktail in one hand and buried in the text messages on your cell phone in the other hand, I might not be able to stop in time and then you're dead.  That's how it works.

  • SP - Glad to hear that babypants is still baking away!  Fight for your right to sleep at home!

Charlotte - Lots of people feel like that at the start of new jobs.  You will get it!

    Last night was SSDD.

Today is yoga and pulled pork nachos for dinner!

As for the yoga, I have taken many different classes.  There are certain styles and teachers I prefer over others.  And for some, its just too slow of an exercise program.  I also can not tolerate any type of hot yoga class.  I would probably pass out!  I once took a cardio yoga class by mistake.  I lasted less than 10 minutes!  I was also newly pregnant and already had 1 loss, so I knew it was too much for me.  Had I not been pregnant, I would have stuck it out for the hour and probably stayed in bed for the remainder of the day!

  • Sp--good vibes for you and baby!

I love yoga. I might even do it today. I'm still in bed (8:45 here), lol. And it's glorious. I haven't been able to cuddle with Aurora in weeks. She's so happy she hasn't stopped purring all morning. I have a shit ton of stuff to do though. I was going to do dinner with some friends but none of us have finished our papers/study guides so we have to do those instead.

Ofherwise, ssdd. I'm really just happy to be home.

  • @sparklepants41, good luck with everything! really hope it's not hospital stay for the rest of your pregnancy (although think of all the pudding and jello you'll get!)
@charlotte989875, I kinda sorta get where you're coming from with the videos.  I do like some at home workouts more than the studio. It can be really intimidating in classes.  that being said - I could never get into yoga.  I heard Pilates was fun..... but workouts will never be "fun" to me.
@VarunaTT, enjoy your day off with K!
@apollymi, Gl with your drivers exam.  Aside from not needing cars because of public transportation, a lot of city dwellers here find it expensive to keep a car they rarely use.  It's common for no car/license people in Chicago too.
@short+sassy, will you be trying to recoup the money from the fridge (was that what he took?) your tenant took?  Or are you calling it a wash?

  • @sparklepants41 if they try to keep you, tell them that you're unable to get quality rest in the hospital, but that you'll track your BP at home and come in if it gets too high. Good luck!

Has anyone heard from @OurWildKingdom? I saw some shitty Trump news and it made me think of her. I don't remember seeing anything from her in a while.

I have a week and a half left here at work and I'm nervous but excited to start my new job. My friend at the new place and I have a plan in place to take the CPA exam and study together. I've been working on basically an instruction manual for how to do my job; it's halfway done and already over 100 pages.

The rest of our furniture was finally delivered this morning. It's so pretty, but it's now a bit cramped. It's on H's side of the bed, though, so I'm not going to worry about it.

True!  I hope all is well with her.  If I'm remembering correctly, I think their wedding is coming up this November.

We also haven't really seen @thefanciestbeckler, since she got her new job.  She abandoned us!  Lol.

Or AtomicBlonde (don't remember if that is her exact username).

@short+sassy, will you be trying to recoup the money from the fridge (was that what he took?) your tenant took?  Or are you calling it a wash?

Yes, it was a fridge he stole.  We're also planning to buy a used washer and dryer.  He had his own for those, so we never bought them the first time around.

I'm going to file a small claims case against him and his wife.  Probably this Friday.  Though I'm sure it will be a waste of time and money.  You can't get blood from a turnip.  After he gets served with those papers, then we are going to call the police about the stolen fridge.  We just didn't want him to skedaddle somewhere else, before he gets served for small claims.  Because we currently know where he is ;).

And how is this for crazy.  He actually moved next door to some little MIL unit behind our neighbor's house.  It was really funny how we found it.  My H was over there getting the unit ready and happened to be outside when the neighbor was.  They were chit chatting and he mentioned something like, "Yeah, we just had to evict (tenant's name) because he stopped paying rent."  She gets this cloud over her face and starts asking a few questions.  Then she comes out with it.  He had just moved over to her small unit because "we had raised the rent on him"...um, yeah, a whole $25/month.  Obviously had not mentioned the real reason he needed to find a new place.

She was not a happy camper!  I doubt he will be there long, so hence why I want to hurry and get him served for small claims.  Our damages, after subtracting his security deposit (which was June's missing rent), are $1802.  Most of that is July's rent, court fees, and $350 for a "new" used fridge.  He only "stayed" for 9 days into July, as in against court orders.  But if he stays for one day, he pays the whole month.  I only pro-rate for tenants that give me 30 days notice, allow showings, and don't screw me over!

The 3 Day is only 10 days away, so when I got to my cube I had travel sized toilet paper, carabeners, ice packs and a cool towel also sitting there.  Later someone dropped off two sleeping pads and a bag.  If our team wasn't company sponsored people would think I'm about to go off the grid!
